I go on vacation and tons of stuff happens! Hehehe! I Love the video! While I'm not a Roman fan at all, I think he did a decent job with this. I'm too tried right now to give a full critique and I'm definitely way too tired to read about it at Cf,lol, but overall I think this ranks right up there with DFTRM and BHC for me. Carrie's acting is superb and she looks gorgeous as always.
So do we know if Carrie went to the George Michael concerts in FL this weekend? maybe she had a Squeeee-worthy moment like we get when we see her!! Let's just hope she didn't pull a Jeff or another person that shall remain nameless...LMAO!!

Not sure if this was ever posted but BMI has an interview with Carrie from the 2007 Country Awards (songwriter awards). You can download it from my site under VIDEOS, INTERVIEW or stream it hereThere also pics of Carrie from the event but without credentials, you get the tiny version. www.bmi.com/press/entry/535644

Those numbers don't connect you directly to Edelblute, Galante, etc., as they don't answer their own phones. The numbers will typically connect you to secretaries or administrative assistants who filter out the "riffraff." The notion that a random fan would get through directly to these people is, frankly, laughable. As for why someone would lie, the world, and the Internet in particular, is rife with people who will take advantage of anticipation for something and lie for attention. We've banned a few such people from Pulse. These people tend to prey on the gullible. Well I have a funny feeling it is true, and the info was confirmed twice by both of them...also Stormy Warren said the same thing on XM radio when he wa asked to confirm a release date...he said 1-2 weeks. The same info was confirmed 3 times over. and at Cfans, we all had people look for phone numbers, and people kept calling, so someone got luck and got to talk to those people. Your right that it seems laughable, but because it was confirmed multiple times by multiple people it seems more likely than not. You were right all along! :)

You were right all along! :) Actually, the person claiming to have spoken to Ann Edelblute and Joe Galante was proven to be wrong. It looks like August 7th is the date, it could be up earlier than that on CMT though...no word on how it will debut. A girl at cfans called Jrecords, Arista, and talked to both Ann Edulblute and Joe Galante....Joe said the video was being sent out this coming monday to CMT and GAC, so its really CMT and GAC's choice of when they want to debut it. Also the video is over 5 minutes and is Carrie's best work....said by Ann.The video is under 5 minutes long (or is this where someone starts a new rumor about a longer director's cut to save face? ). As for the release date, once Storme Warren announced a 10-14 day window on XM16, anyone could have guessed the release date.

Well usually CMT doesn't debut video's on Mondays, and someone did say something about a Monday...but yes this person was wrong, I'm just happy it came earlier. Even Storme was wrong He said 10-14 days last Thursday, or maybe he was talking about GAC's debuting of the video? The video also is right round 5 mintutes long if you let it go all the way to the end. I'm happy it came out earlier! I still don't think the person was fibbing....CMT could have easily gotten the video early. I never said this information was confirmed, I just chose to believe it.

Carrie, LeAnn and More to Duet with Elvis Some of Country's queens are getting the chance to sing with the King on an upcoming album of Christmas tracks. "Elvis Presley Christmas Duets" pairs the voice of Presley with the likes of Carrie Underwood and LeAnn Rimes – both of whom were born after the musical legend had died. Martina McBride, Sara Evans, and Wynonna Judd also lend their voices to the tunes. Underwood 'duets' with Presley on "I'll be Home for Christmas," while Rimes takes on "Here Comes Santa Claus" and McBride croons with the King on the Presley favorite "Blue Christmas." Additional tracks include: "Silent Night" with Evans; "Santa Claus is Back In Town" with Judd; "Merry Christmas Baby" with Gretchen Wilson; "Silver Bells" with Anne Murray; "White Christmas" with Amy Grant; and "O Little Town" with Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town. The songs are being recorded in Nashville's RCA Studio B–the same studio where Elvis recorded his original 1971 Christmas sessions. "We are so pleased that these accomplished artists are collaborating with Elvis in this unique way to make exciting new versions of his Christmas songs," Priscilla Presley said in a press release. "I am sure Elvis would be proud to have worked with them." Tracks from the album will be previewed Aug. 14 during the 2008 Elvis Week in Memphis. www.people.com/people/article/0,,20217249,00.html

^^^ Very well-written, indeed ! I am sooooo glad Carrie/Arista has released 'Just A Dream'. This is the only single that I have loved from this record (I don't agree with the choice of singles this era, but whatever.)
- I have this hope of mine that she will sing 'Just A Dream' at both the CMA Awards and Grammys, where she will no doubt show the world again just how impressive she is at delivering such a powerful vocal on such an intensely emotional song.

^^^Great review. It looks like JAD was the perfect song to release at this time. They had to release it eventually, it's the best on CR.

Just a reminder that Carrie will be performing at the Opry this Saturday. It seems like it won't be televised though. Does anyone know why? Saturday Opry is always televised. I was looking forward to the TV debut of JAD.

I was looking forward to the TV debut of JAD. That's too bad. They might not televise it live, but the show will eventually end up being broadcast on GAC at some point, probably in the next couple of weeks. jmo

^ Vinman-- On CF--- someone from the Opry posted a reply in a thread where people were upset that Carrie wasn't performing on tv. They said they are showing some kind of Country Sounds of Summer special instead... that was already taped. So I guess we can listen on the radio. I was dissapointed as I thought this would be the premier of JAD on tv. :(
^ I really love the JAD video. I respect everyone's opinions, and some of you raise good points--- but overall, it accomplishes its objective very nicely. On other boards, and other sites- even non-fans are loving the video and saying that it brought them to tears. So I really think it is moving and emotional--- many ex-military or families of soldiers commented on CMT as well as other sites, that they cried because the video brought back so many memories- they felt that it honored the sacrifice and adequately captured the pain, desperation, and denial that you feel when someone you love is suddenly gone.
Here is my take on the video- for what it is worth:
1. I think the beginning scene draws you right in nicely, as the Eddy Arnold song playing in the classic tune "Make the World Go away" is a nice little tribute to him by Carrie and Roman. I think alot of people noticed that and liked it.
2. Roman used nice details and took his time to make everything just right re: the fashion, cars, and music playing in the car, to reference the time frame for when the scene is takinig place- 1965 or a few years later, Vietnam era. The car is a classic from the mid-late 1960's, per Chevrolet at CF. The uniform worn by her husband is a Vietnam war grade uniform-- per some ex-military people at CF- so Roman got that right too. Carrie's blue eye shadow, hair style and teh way her makeup was done was perfect 1960's Jackie-O--- if she had dark hair, she could have easily passed for Jacquelyn Kennedy-- I swear! Right down to the gloves-- which all the ladies wore in that era. ( I was not born yet- but I have seen the pictures and films from the 1960's so you can tell they did a good job).
3. Carrie's acting is very impressive. I think she is as good as, or better then, some young hollywood "actresses" out there right now...She definetly did not over-act, and that is important.. You don't want to go over the top here- you want it to be real, and it was.
4. The dream like, slow motion atmosphere of the whole video was perfect. Roman's theme was clearly to show how Carrie was floatiing in and out of reality--- she was in so much pain that she kept flashing back to the past, her wedding day, their last night together before he was deployed, etc. That is why Carrie was in slow motion walking down the aisle- because that part was the "dream" or the past. When they showed the flower petals and leaves, it helped create the mood of a dream. Then-- she is suddenly brought back to reality, the funeral, and her clothes change to black. In reality--- they were already black as she was already at the funeral...but didn't want to accept that he was gone.
5. The white imagery in the beginning was beautiful--- when carrie is getting ready for the wedding in her room, and they only show flutters of white veil, but then the bright, colorful flowers stand out among a sea of white lace, etc. That was lovely. It also helped create the dream like, fantasy atmosphere.
6. Carrie opened the "doors" to rhe church to follow the lyrics in the song- but they showed the wedding as outside-- because she was actually at the funeral. so of course there were no actual doors outside- that was also just a metaphor, or symbolic. I liked it.
7. The lighting was beautiful--- especially in the scenes when she was kissing him, or when he was shown in his uniform like a ghost, with teh sun shimmering behind him, casting an ethereal image. The lighting in the trees was also beautiful-- especially when they showed Carrie against the backrop of the trees-- very nice imagery.
8. When the sky turned darker and the dress turned black, etc- the pretty pink petals changed to black petals and leaves, creating a dark, foreboding atmosphere that was perfect for the funeral. The image of Carrie holding on to that coffin was very powerful.
9. My favorite part-- was the very last scene- which I think was extremely simple, yet powerful. Carrie holds onto the folded up flag for dear life, and she is noticeably all alone in the cemetary, next to the coffin.. All of the guests have left, and it is just Carrie, the flag, and her husband's coffin. The camera pulls away and shows her standing there, frozen, unable to move or accept the enormity of her loss or the pain. The lighting in that final cemetary scene was also kind of surreal-- perfect.
10. My only critique-- was that I wanted there to be a gun fired by the military to salute him, as is done at every military funeral. They got the folded up flag right though- but I think if they had shown the shots being fired, that image would have made this great video-- transcend to a career defining video.
Overall--- I think it is the best video to date by Carrie. Is it technically perfect? No- but it is perfect to me, and to most people who watched it that didn't get caught up in little perceived flaws. If you just sit back, and enjoy the dream like melancholy and pain of the video, you will love it.

^^^^Looks like T liked the JAD video. I did too. Sometimes we tend to overcriticize and over analyze songs and videos to the point of no return. Just sit, listen, look, and feel. If the video evokes an emotion, then it's done it's job. Some are better than others in doing that, and that's ok.
Some people liked the song "Cleaning this Gun" by Rodney Adkins, I hated it. But, it got to number one. Others love "Stay" by Sugarland, I thought it was just too whiney. But, look what that song did for them.
Art, it's in the eye of the beholder. The JAD video will be looked at by millions of people in the next year, some will love it, some will say it's not as good as "they" think it could've been. Hey, no song or video is ever perfect. I for one, love it.

I guess the fact that one of the JAD videos on utube has almost 1000 comments, the majority of which are positive, is a sign that people like it. It's only been out for 5 days, not bad. So far so good.
