CMT played Nickelback??? I mean, I love Nickelback (probably my favorite non-country act), but hearing them on CMT would be very odd. Seeing Colbie Caillat on CMT (and I LOVE Colbie) is also VERY odd!

CMT played Nickelback's "Rockstar" quite often. that is disgusting I think it had something to do with John Rich and other artists (I think) being in the video. I personally love Nickelback... but would agree they shouldn't be played on CMT. *dies* I didn't know where to post this but I just had to! Watch "Rockstar [CLEAN]" by NICKELBACK, courtesy CMT www.cmt.com/videos/nickelback/166709/rockstar.jhtmlThey added this to their rotation!... I'd like to believe it's for reasons other than John Rich being in it... Seriously though, these guys are by far my favorite non-country act. I might actually have to watch CMT to catch this. The video is so cheesey, I love it. I love how they managed to get so many kids in this video.

CMT Canada used to have a show called "Rockin' Country", where they'd play edgy country stuff (not the pop crossover, but people like Lyle Lovett, Junior Brown, The Mavericks, etc.) as well as people like Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Amanda Marshall, Tom Petty and Jewel, who had country flavor in their music. I used to like that, but it hasn't been on in probably 10 years or so. This song would've fit right in there.
It's #57 this week, and still trending upwards on Mediabase. As the summer progresses, I'd expect it to stay in the 40s, and maybe even last long enough to go recurrent.

"All Summer Long" was sent out to country radio today. I think this will definitely make the top 40, and it might have a shot at top 30. I'm looking forward to watching its progress this summer.
Also, this note was in Country Aircheck last Friday:
» Kid Marks: CO5/Nashville's David Newmark checks in to report that his team will be representing Kid Rock's new Atlantic single "All Summer Long" beginning Monday (6/30).

^ thanks for the update rowdawg. Given that the song has become a fixture towards the bottom of the chart, it only makes sense to push this song to country radio. I agree with rowdawg, I think will easily make the T40, but I can't see it making it as high as Picture did.

I heard this song today, and the first thing I thought was: wrong key. The notes seem to partly fit in, but he really butchered the key and melody of the real song. I think if he gets a top 10 hit out of this, it's only because people liked the original song and it brings back memories.

I'm glad this is getting a formal push. I've been listening to this song a lot in my car for the past couple weeks, and I'm really loving it. It's easily one of my favorite songs of the summer. Now that the label is officially working it to country, I think it'll go top 30 for sure, hopefully even higher.

I'm not getting the country connection with this song but .... I LOVE the song so glad it's getting as much play as it is, regardless of the format!

On Billboard/R&R's Country chart, jumps from No. 44 to No. 32 and is already trending w/ one day into the new chart week at No. 27.
Multi-format chart smash with success coming from Top 40, AC, Adult Top 40, Rock and Country. His album has rebouned from No. 82 to No. 7 since the release of the song to radio.
In the UK, it jumps from No. 46 to No. 6 becoming his biggest hit ever and is a smash across Europe as well hitting No. 1 in Germany, Austria and several others countries...
Looks set to become his biggest hit by far...

lol, reading thru the posts on predictions....almost everyone before 7/11 was wrong as far as how far it'd get. Now, how far do we think? I'm thinking it could make #15 country, #1 Hot ac, #8 top 40, #11 AC, not sure about rock. I think it'll make #10 on Hot 100 air, and depending if it gets a digital single available, #4 on Hot 100, #23 w/o a single

That would be entertaining, as all the hard-line traditionalists would have to be put on suicide watch... We have already given up. "Uncle!"I've already resigned the fact that I actually like this song. Compaired to Bob That Head, this song is a 'breath of fresh air.' Now, If I can find this one on any pay download site, that would be great! If not, do they still make CD singles?

Folks, please don't post consecutively. If you have something new to say after just posting, just edit your most recent post with your additional thoughts. Or if you'd like to respond to multiple quotes, draft your post in MS Word, Wordpad or another word processing program, and just copy and paste quotes with your responses until you are done. Thanks. Getting back to "All Summer Long"...I do enjoy listening to it, quite a lot. But I'm still working through how I feel that its charm is so dependent on what it borrows from two already well-known songs. I mean, it's a good thing that one of those songs is acknowledged. But doesn't this also reinforce the notion that radio is overly reliant on the familiar and that what makes it on radio today is so uninspiring that people are flocking to a song that is so derivative of a pretty classic hook and riff? And is Kid Rock really doing any better than other artists we might consider derivative just because he acknowledged the sample and borrowed hook? In any case, I think this is going to make the top-10. It looks to be this week's greatest audience gainer and is the beneficiary of a good deal of buzz for the way it is driving album sales. edwin1961, I don't believe Kid Rock has made the single available in any form. To get the song, one would have to buy his album (which is presumably why his album sales have shot up lately). Here is a Billboard/Reuters story about Kid Rock withholding his catalog from iTunes and other digital retailers.

I would buy this and Picture in a heartbeat, but I’m not willing to buy entire albums for them.
I wonder if making singles available as soon as an album comes out hurts artist’s sales in the long run. I don’t know of a way to figure out how many singles sales it would take, etc. to make up for lost album sales. I know I buy some singles and don’t buy entire albums. Something that would be harder to measure is future album sales. I’ve bought albums and found songs that were never released as singles that made me pay more attention to an artist and then I bought their next album.

Wow, this is really exploding. I'm glad, but I didn't expect it to move this fast, even with a formal label push. It does sound great on the radio in the summer though - last night, I heard it on a country station, a pop stations, an alternative station and two HotAC stations (I'm terrible for flipping around radio stations on my car's preset). A true 'multi-format' hit. I wonder how high this can realistically go - there are only 6 or 7 weeks of summer left, and I can't really see radio playing this as much in the fall as they are now. If Kid can keep this pace up, he could be in the top 10 by Labor Day, and I wouldn't expect him to have a bullet much past the middle of September. So, now I'm predicting #7 (kind of like Faith's "Sunshine & Summertime").

Jumps from 32 to 27 on R&R Country (that's before recurrents are removed so could go even higher) -- 2nd biggest gain on the chart.
