Neither are MOST artist's under the country banner. I find this more "country" as say .... Carrie or Taylors new singles. I can at least draw a short line from country to the Southern rock influence of this song. I find there latest singles just as "disgusting" as you find this. Maybe I should post 17 times in those threads how much I dislike them....

I think the highest prediction for this song in this thread I saw was #7... I'm beginning to think top 5? 3? #1?? It currently has the highest bullet on the Mediabase chart, and it's gonna be either KR or Toby with Most Increased Audience this week. The only competition I see is Carrie and Toby...

Danny Wright (http://www.wrightallnight.com/) really ripped into this song on his syndicated overnight show on Tuesday morning. He said he can't get on board with the blatant use of sampling for a country hit. But he said the song is going to be a big hit and he's probably in the minority opinion. His poll question (at the above site) asks if this song is wright or wrong, and, as of last check, 2/3 are for it and only 1/3 are against it.

I personally love the song and think it's awesome, but I was wondering last night if Kid Rock had to get permission to use the signature sounds of the 2 classic songs or if he could get sued for some kind of copyright infringement?

This had another huge gain this week (I'm guessing right around 3 million). A couple weeks ago I thought this would stall outside the top 10, but right now that doesn't look likely (and that's fine by me).

^ Same here. I crank the radio up everytime I hear the song. It's easily one of my 5 favorite songs on the radio right now. Now if only Kid would give in and make his library available to iTunes or Amazon, then I'd really be happy.

I HIGHLY HIGHLY dislike this song.
"Sweet Home Alabama" is one of the MOST overplayed classic songs ever. It seems like it's in every movie and it's always THE song you think of when you think classic rock. IT'S SO OLD! I've heard "Sweet Home Alabama" a trillion times in my life, and I'm only 20. I REALLY don't want to hear a remake of it.
This song is extremely boring and even more unoriginal. I have even MORE dislike towards country radio than ever before.
I can forgive them for playing pop country because most of it has evolved from aritsts that were "originally" country (Shania Twain, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, etc). In pop country, there still seems to be come country elements in it. It's more accepting because it's been a gradual change (in my opinion, of course) But playing this outright and obvious ROCK song is crossing the line for me. I am beyond disgusted with country radio for playing this.

I do agree with you about this not having any country elements though. I'm completely perplexed at the way country radio has jumped on this. I thought it would recieve enough airplay reach the T40, with mostly southern stations playing it (where the country-southern rock connection is most evident). Instead it's become a smash hit that appears headed for #1. Even though I love the song, I'll admit it sounds very strange on country radio (and hearing Bob Kingsley introduce it on CT40 sounded equally strange).

this song is now #1 in UK, Ireland, Sweden and several other countries. His biggest international hit ever.

I honestly think that this has as much country in it as anything that LeAnn puts out. Besides, look at "outlaw" country. There has never been a country element in that (to me anyway) yet it's considered country.

If nothing else, this song has country lyrics. And I really don't think country radio would play a Kid Rock song if their audiences didn't want to hear it.

It's pure southern rock. Not country infused southern rock (or vice versa), but straight up southern rock. You don't hear country stations playing Sweet Home Alabama do you? That's all I'm saying. It's odd to hear a pure southern rock song mixed in with today's pop-country stars.

You don't hear country stations playing Sweet Home Alabama do you? Actually, I do sometimes (of course, I live in Alabama so that's probably why). To me, Southern Rock and Country are very similar. They're like brothers, so I'm never surprised to hear songs that sound Southern Rock on Country radio. There are many Country artists who have hints of Southern Rock in them, so I really don't know why anyone would be surprised that Country radio is playing a Southern Rock song (but maybe I'm alone in my opinion). My problem with this song is the fact that it's so unoriginal and a total rip-off of such a classic song. It sounds just like "Sweet Home Alabama" and even uses that title in the chorus. Yes, it's a catchy song, but I don't think I've ever seen a song be successful that copies a song as much as this song does. I know that there are some current hits that might sound a bit like past hits, but this one just blows my mind. I keep waiting for a lawsuit, but I guess Skynyrd doesn't mind.

I like "Picture" much better than this. "Picture" was helped in large part by Sheryl Crow's flawless delivery, in my opinion.

I agree Sheryl Crow brought credibility to the "Picture" record but I do enjoy "All Summer Long" especially the 6 + minute revamped version they're playing in the U.K. where this week Kid Rock is number one in the Official UK chart...amazing!!!

This decrepit song brings an entire new meaning to the word 'excruciating'.
I have no idea why it's soaring up the charts as if it were the next 'Live Like You Were Dying' or 'Better Life'.

It's a classic song that I really love, but I've never once heard it on a country station. I'm not condemning country radio for playing this song (the way some are), i actually would like it if country music went a little more in that direction, but for now it just sounds odd to hear this song sandwiched between Brad Paisley and Taylor Swift on the radio.

I like this song. It's fun, upbeat, and distinctive. Plus, I'm *from* northern Michigan, so I know exactly what he's singing about (except I haven't fished since I was 10 and I wouldn't dare smoke anything, funny or otherwise), but it stands out on radio, and it's a refreshing change from the sometimes interchangeable songs.

This song is available on iTunes as a single. Search "hit masters" and it is first on the list.
