Still loving this song...simplicity at its best! Now I'm hoping for a good music video and one without spastic or weird hand-facial movements. Is that too much to ask for?? Anyone know when this will be on itunes?

Song makes a quick splash on the Mediabase Country charts.
117 JESSSICA SIMPSON - COME ON OVER 23 0 23 0.237
Wow. Looks like country radio will pick this up faster than I thought.

with all the great reviews from everyone on here, i expected something great! but this is not great. it is good and much much better than i first expected Jessica to give, but by no means would i call it great For a pop star completely crossing genre's, this is quite fantastic. I just hope fans of certain female country acts (none in particular) don't hate on her just because she's "competition" for their country diva. (And, except for a few amazing vocalists, Jessica could probably sing better than most females in the genre)

Jessica has country in her. It's not like say Mariah trying to do this. Jessica is from Texas and has country "twang" in her voice.

Jessica Simpson's New Single Is Released By Eileen Finan
Originally posted Wednesday May 28, 2008 11:40 AM EDT Jessica Simpson Photo by: Soul Brother / FilmMagic
Her romance with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo may have overshadowed her singing career of late, but Jessica Simpson is back with a new single, the first off her upcoming country album.
The lighthearted, upbeat "Come On Over," airing on Jacksonville, Fla. radio station WQIK, features her breathy vocals over a steel guitar. (Visit wqik.com to hear the song.)
On the tune, she sings: "I need you now/ I need you bad/I need you baby looking just like that/Don't pack a bag/Don't make me wait/ I want to kiss that smile that's on your face/I need you wrapped up in these arms/ I want you just the way you are/Come on over."
Early feedback has been positive: in a poll on WQIK's Web site, of the more than 6,600 people who listened to the track, 58 percent gave it a thumbs up.
Simpson's record label says that she will be performing at fairs and festivals this summer in support of her country album, due out in September. Simpson's father told PEOPLE last year that the album will go back to her Texas roots. "She's a singer from top to bottom," Joe Simpson said. "And everything in the music business, especially pop music, has moved away from singers. And I think country is the only pure, storytelling kind of genre left."

It's not terrible, but it certainly doesn't stand out when compared to some of the other singles out there right now.

This song isn't great. It's not even especially memorable. She has easily created better works I Wanna Love You Forever, I Think I'm In Love, With You, Take My Breathe Away evne that horrid Boots cover has more of a hook then this. This is really bland and banal. It's not awful but it's nothing great either.

^ I like it a lot more than 'TMBA', 'Boots', and 'With You'. I still don't understand how 'WY' was such a hit when much better songs like 'A Public Affair' and 'I Belong To Me' underperformed. I guess it was because Jessica was just becoming a superstar with Newlyweds when they released it.

"With You" definitely became a hit because of all of the attention behind Newlyweds, but "A Public Affair" and especially "I Belong To Me" didn't exactly scream hit to me. I mean, I loved "A Public Affair" but I don't think pop radio was dying for a campy, early 80's dance record.

Well APA did go top 20 on pop radio AND the Hot 100, so it was shown quite a bit of love.

I hated the entire APA era so I can't argue how good it was. I think it got what it deserved. As to ITS that had a few good singles on it. I think Irresistable and Sweet Kisses deserved more success. But this song is really tepid.

^ Yeah, the era itself was a disaster, but I love the album. Most of the songs are really catchy and enjoyable. I think "ITS" is definitely her best and most cohesive album. It has some of her strongest vocal performances as well (her voice is stunning on 'Underneath' and 'Everyday See You').

Yeah, probably because she barely promoted it. She only performed it once, at that gay club on her MTV special (and it was hardly a performance, since they only showed a few seconds of it and she lip-synched). It's just too bad she got that throat infection right before the album's release and had to cancel most of her promotional appearances. The album might have done a bit better. But back to "COO" - has it picked up anymore spins?

I just felt like her record label pushed her into releasing an album that she probably didn't even want to release. That whole era was just awkward and I'm actually glad not too much was made of it. For this country record though, I feel like she might ger her fanbase back, she's on track!

Especially from most of the male artists. I think that this song will help do what I think is already in motion...females are making a comeback on radio. I do believe this will be most added next week.

For this country record though, I feel like she might ger her fanbase back, she's on track! Yeah, she even said she didn't want to release the album. Her label forced her into doing happy, poppy music when she was still feeling down over the divorce. Her heart wasn't in it, which is probably why she just let it sink. It does seem like she's back in a good place now, though.

^I hope not. After all the shame they have placed on some country artists for crossover hits and work, they want to embrace a pop star?! What's wrong with this genre? I'm sure everyone knows who I'm talking about since I argue this everytime another pop star crosses over, but it just ain't right! Why accept another genre's artists and cast your own artist out when they crossover to the other genre?

I finally gave this a listen and I do not care for it at all. It reminds me of Danielle Peck's "Bad For Me"...which isn't a good thing.

Everyone is being so cynical with this song. The first two pages are filled with nothing but compliments...now page 3 is turning to the dark side. What happened?

Is country radio really gonna embrace a pop tart? Initially I'm sure they will, but in the long run it's going to depend on the quality of her music. Plenty of artists have tried to cross-over, and several have had initial success (Bon Jovi, the Eagles, Michelle Branch, and even Jimmy Buffett), but none were able to sustain success. If Jessica has more material like this in store, then she'll be fine, b/c country radio eats this kind of stuff up. But if her subsequent efforts aren't as strong (radio-friendly), the format will likely forget about her as quickly as they "adopted" her.

^ Exactly. As long as her later singles are on par with or better than "COO," she'll be fine. It all depends on the music. She definitely won't coast by on the Jessica Simpson name alone.
