I'm not sure where else to ask this question because it's not about the current single, but it does pertain to George. Can someone tell me why "Stars On The Water" only hit #50 (according to billboard.com) on the country chart? What's the stroy behind that? Was it the last single from the album? Was it not officially released? Thanks! It was not officially released, and got its airplay from a small number of staions. Awesome, thanks. It was played here, but then both stations here in San Antonio play all of his singles (every hour of every day, at that) and sometimes they play album tracks.

Interesting info. I thought "Stars on the Water" was an actual single. That explains why it did so poorly.

I imagine they played "Texas" quite a bit then as well, even though it was never released.

Because of that, it's one of my least favorite George songs. And it has awesome lyrics too.

now just 1 notch away from another top 10. Are you basing this on HitPredictor? Because HitPredictor has a different song at #40 than the R&R Chart Highlights page does. I don't know if it's just that HitPredictor didn't place "Just a Dream" on the chart, so songs ranked behind JAD on the chart are showing one position higher than they should be (in which case, "Troubadour" wouldn't be impacted). But if it isn't just that, we don't know for sure that "Troubadour" is #11 (even though it is likely, based on last week's chart).

Just some usual sluggishness on Hit Predictor's part, where they don't immediately remove the songs that are obviously recurrent. Gracin is showing at #15, but he'd definitely be gone this week. The songs above there are in their correct place (as you said, likely), and then you have to move up the songs one spot, starting with Toby, from the #16 listed, to the correct #15. Then the same with Carrie's Last Name, which shows at #23, but is also obviously gone. Starting with Wicks at #26, you move each of the next songs up two spots, so that you get Chuck at the correct #24. That would also get you Pat Green, liste don HP at #40, to the correct Chart Highlights position of #38. So in short, I think we do know 99% certain that George is at #11 this week on Billboard.

How about the top 30 artists? Billboard all-time top 10s: 1. Eddy Arnold - 92 2. George Strait - 79 3. George Jones - 78 4. Conway Twitty - 75 5. Merle Haggard - 71 6. Ernest Tubb - 58 7T. Red Foley - 56 7T. Dolly Parton - 56 9. Reba McEntire - 55 10. Webb Pierce - 54 11. Waylon Jennings - 53 12T. Johnny Cash - 52 12T. Charley Pride - 52 14T. Loretta Lynn - 51 14T. Alabama - 51 14T. Jim Reeves - 51 17. Ronnie Milsap - 49 18. Alan Jackson - 48 19T. Buck Owens - 47 19T. Marty Robbins - 47 21. Ray Price - 46 22. Don Williams - 45 23T. Sonny James - 43 23T. Hank Snow - 43 25T. Willie Nelson - 42 25T. Hank Williams, Jr. - 42 27T. Faron Young - 41 27T. Tim McGraw - 41 29T. Tanya Tucker - 40 29T. Brooks and Dunn - 40 I was going to wait to post this until next week, when I can officially change George's total, but I guess a little bit early won't hurt anything. And you can see that George is on the verge of claiming the runner-up position all to himself. Hopefully Fred Bronson and Chart Beat have been doing their homework, and can post that news next week with the correct top ten total that I have here. The third single from Troub gets him to 80 top 10s, and then four more studio albums, with three singles from each, get him to catch Eddy Arnold (as long as they choose singles wisely). Four albums; 1.5 years for each album, means we're hopefully a short six years away from George claiming the top stat on this listl! Updated: with the 79th top 10 for George....

I really hope, and think, that George will be around at least 6 more years. I would LOVE to see him get that #1 spot on the most top 10 hits list.

IIRC, he's only missed the top ten three times this decade, a mark he shares with Tim McGraw.
'Don't Make Me Come Over There And Love You', 'Tell Me Something Bad About Tulsa' & 'Seashores Of Old Mexico' are three good-to-extraordinary songs, IMHO.

I agree, those are three of his best songs he's ever recorded, especially the last two.

TMSBAT was very underated. I guess it probably would've been best left as a standout album cut (and it definetly shouldn't have been the lead single), but I still really liked it. I didn't care for SOOM though, and I have no recollection of DMMCOTALY

I agree that TMSBAT is a great song. I'm confused about why it didn't do better. ???

Watch NEW Video for song www.theboot.com/2008/08/07/video-premiere-troubadour-george-strait/Who: George Strait Video: 'Troubadour' Why We Love It: This is only Strait's second music video in the past decade, and it was well worth the wait! King George takes us on a trip back in time, sharing memories of his illustrious career. Watch the video premiere right here on The Boot, before you can see it anywhere else online. Nice pictures of George's early days on the concert circuit, including the touching one of Jenifer (I assume that's who's with George at the piano). And those are simple but effective touches they did with the "lights", on those old pictures, with the flashbulbs and such "coming alive". Also, that was interesting with the way they had the pictures have a "3-D feel" to them, with certain elements moving around independently from the rest of the photo. I did like just how simple and straightforward the video is. No danger of people here posting three pages' worth in trying to analyze it, like the latest Carrie video....

I really like the video. Too bad this song's second verse flat out sucks pond water and just brings the whole song crashing down.

You can't compare George's videos to Carrie's. His videos have never been one of George's strong points.
