I predicted this song would peak around #9 the first time I heard it, and I would love to see it match my prediction.
I didn't really expect it to take this long to get there, though.

I will be glad if she wins the Grammy too, but she faces supreme challenges from both Trisha and LeAnn Rimes this year, both of whom also nominated for one of their finest performances ever. As a matter of fact, I'll be content with either of these three winning.

I have a feeling it will come down to Trisha and Lee Ann with Lee Ann narrowly winning

At this point in time (or even going back a decade or more), they're the most respected females in the format, alongside Patty Loveless.

Is this song is still inching up the charts? I'm hearing it more on the radio now. What a deal!

Is this song is still inching up the charts? I'm hearing it more on the radio now. What a deal! This week it jumped instead of inching. Now at 16 with a top 15 position awaiting it next week, assuming it doesn't suddenly fall apart. #12 is possible. Higher than that will require a lot more chart weeks.

Up to #14 but it lost its bullet. Now any negative next week will send this one to recurrent, and it's up only 1,000 so far at MB for the new week. I'd hate to see it leave the chart next week, so I'm hoping for a nice rally. If Pat Green can do it...

This is such a great song....I was really hoping for a top 10. Would have been nice, but I was just hoping for a top 20 myself. A miserable run ending at #28 or so might have signalled the end of her radio career. This way, she'll release another song and it might do better. For this to make the top 10, what has to happen? 1. She has to gain audience next week or she's gone. 2. Even if she does, I expect Jake Owen to pass her next week, Rodney Atkins the week after that, then it's Carrie and Rascal Flatts time. I forgot Tim McGraw -- he's a problem too. 3. So in 3 weeks, with Taylor Swift already in the top 10 replacing Paisley/Urban, Lee Ann would still be about 4th in line, or 5th. Can't even count on Pat Green leaving. It just looks bad. But there's still hope.

That's a perfect summation; the only question is how much more patience does her label have?

The label loves Lee Ann Womack. UMG does stick with artists longer than some others do (but not as long as Curb does).

Last Call has rallied and is now up a tiny 14k for the week on MB. Of course that doesn't mean she's positive for the week so far on Billboard's BDS, but with one day to go, the song looks to me like it will survive. Have to take it one week at a time from here, but top 15 and a 30-week run is pretty good. Then maybe a better run with I Found It In You, the most radio-friendly option available, or a worse run with a better song, Solitary Thinkin'.
Edited to reflect a look at the Chart Highlights for 2/14 -- no mention of Last Call, but if Carrie's at 22 and RF at 25, I don't see how LC could have left the chart. So the late rally seems to have worked.

Zazie, I am with you as far as the next single goes. "I Found It In You" is the only radio-friendly option remaining, but "Solitary Thinkin'" is my favorite album track. I'm not sure which direction they should go in. It's not like "I Found It In You" is anything close to a guarantee radio smash, so I'm almost leaning towards "Solitary Thinkin'".

Edited to reflect a look at the Chart Highlights for 2/14 -- no mention of Last Call, but if Carrie's at 22 and RF at 25, I don't see how LC could have left the chart. So the late rally seems to have worked. Yup. "Last Call" actually posted a small audience gain of 159K on the Billboard/ R&R chart, dropping one spot to #15. It could be my rather intense dislike of "I Found It In You" talking, but I don't think it would be a wise choice for a follow-up single. I understand that it's the most contemporary-sounding song on Call Me Crazy, but Lee Ann outperformed a lot of our expectations with a lead single that didn't cater to what many assume country radio will play (well, speaking for myself, I thought it would struggle to make the top-20). I think "Last Call" has done well on the radio because it has a good hook and it sounds distinctively Lee Ann. That's what I think Lee Ann and her label should be looking for in a follow-up single. Although Lee Ann still sounds like herself on "I Found It In You," there's nothing about the song that makes me think, "Wow, this is something that fits Lee Ann to T." It's quite the opposite, actually -- the song is such a step down in lyrical quality and fluidity and such a step up in treacly overkill that it makes me wonder what Lee Ann was thinking in recording it. I also think that a little of this song's melody goes a long way, and that it won't age well on the radio. Could be wrong. In any case, as austin suggests, there's no guarantee that giving country radio something that fits will result in radio play. Lee Ann may well be better off playing to her strengths. So I would root for pretty much any song on Call Me Crazy over "I Found It In You" for a second single. My favorite song on the album remains "The Bees," and I think it would make for a really interesting choice. It has a good enough hook that it could make a mark. But "Solitary Thinkin'" is probably a safer choice and I think it could make the top-30 on country radio. It has an engaging, almost conversational melody and it's a song that I think people will think makes sense for Lee Ann to be singing.

While I like other songs like "Solitary Thinkin" "The Bees" and "Either Way" better, I think that "I Found It In You" makes sense. It's probably the most radio friendly song on the cd aside from "Last Call".

I just don't get all of the love for Solitary Thinkin'. I've tried repeatedly to get into that song, but I just don't care for it. There seems to be such a struggle in deciding of the production for the song that I find it distracting (it's too traditional to be contemporary, and too polished to be traditional). Personally, I'm rooting for New Again to be released. It's simple in lyric and production (but not so simple that it wouldn't work on radio), and Lee Ann sounds as engaging as ever on it. The Bees is great, but I doubt that they will take a risk and release it (although I would to see them take the chance). The Story Of My Life would make a fine single choice as well, IMO.

I often find myself rooting for my favorite artists to ignore the songs I like best when it comes to choosing releases. On the other hand, Whiskey Lullaby had a nice run -- but it's not as if Brad's radio career was about to be endangered if a song or two flopped. Whereas we don't know how long we'll get to enjoy LAW.
I would be intrigued by a release of The Bees. Certainly I like that one much more than I Found. Plus anytime you can team up with Keith Urban you might get a little chart boost, whether he's credited or not. OK, I'll switch over to the apiary to find my preferred single instead of looking in the cliche bin.

While I do love "Solitary Thinkin'", I think it's too similar to "Last Call", lyrically, so it shouldn't be a single. "I Found It In You" is very radio-friendly, and very very pop (only thing country about is the vocals and the mandolin it seems like), but I don't want it to be the second single because it doesn't represent the album well (I love it, though).
My choice would be: "The Bees", lyrically, but it's different. It's not very radio-friendly, but with Keith Urban on harmony, it would help a lot. A great story song with excellent vocals and an invigorating production.
I hope "Everything But Quits" is released someday. I would love LOVE that.

I'm taking a Rate The Music survey right now for Lee Ann and it's for "Either Way", "I Found It in You" & "Solitary Thinkin'"

Probably "I Found It In You" because it's the most contemporary. However, I think it's also the least substantial. Tough call. If Lee Ann is going to get a hit, then IFIIY is her best bet. However, if the next single will flop regardless, I'd rather see a really good song (like "Solitary Thinkin'") at least have a shot.

Wow, glad to see this rallying up AGAIN. This song won't die!
But anyways, I STRONGLY believe I Found It In You should not be released. It does not represent Call Me Crazy AT ALL. And anyways, Last Call has done pretty well and it doesn't really fit anywhere on radio. I think she could could have a potential hit with Solitary Thinkin. If In Color went top 10, there's no reason ST couldn't either.

Hmm... this is tough. They're all great, and I would love ST as a single, especially if she performed it at an awards show. My only issue with it is the similarity in theme and lyrics to "Last Call".
"Either Way" would be interesting, though I think it might take people a while to immediately grab onto it. I love it now, but wasn't totally in love with it when I first heard it.

I don't like Either Way at all -- I think it's more of a caricature of a bad marriage than a description of one, with no particulars at all; and it lacks any subtlety. I think it would be a reasonable single choice (whether I like it or not), because she performs it well. But I think bittersweet is a better mode for Lee Ann than black despair without redemption. (Twenty Years didn't do too well on the radio, and EW is a lot more bleak than that one. I find it hard to believe EW would make the top 20.)
I assume the Strait duet will never receive permission for a release, but wouldn't mind being proved wrong.
It seems to me that any song that's on an album represents the album. Lee Ann has sung lots of traditional material but this is hardly the first foray into a more contemporary sound, and some prospective purchasers of the album will be happy that Found is on it. So from a sales perspective, I do think Found would be a successful choice.
If Solitary Thinkin' were released after a different-themed second song, such as Bees or Found It, I would like it better (for the reasons iCF stated). But will this album get 3 singles?
Oh well, I don't really know what I want anymore. I've been talked into Bees and I'm sticking with that for at least a week.

I'm just really disappointed that this wonderful son hasn't made the top ten yet, and probably won't barring a major surprise.
I'm also pulling for her at the Grammys on Sunday evening, although I adore Trisha's equally exceptional 'This Is Me You're Talking To'.

Now we'll see what the absence of a Grammy boost does -- she's still in the top 15 (for the 2/21 chart) but I wonder if she can still keep gaining. The top 10 is miles away.
