They don't know that God considers 2nd marriages adulterous (punishable by stoning unless the first spouse died). The Bible is clearly against divorce except in the event of adultery. That is the only time it is acceptable. Jesus is the fulfillment of the law. The law (Old Testament) is not invalid... it is still a guideline of how to live and a history of how God led His people. Jesus loves everyone... what he hates is the sin. While Jesus may have never specifically spoken on homosexuality, it's in the Bible whether you like it or not. No, he did not say that. He simply says that God called some people to be single. Not everyone is supposed to get married. Exactly! I love it too!

This is my personal experience with this song. I may have shared this before, but I think it belongs in this thread. Thank you for sharing your story. Most Christians who love to look down upon gays have never read their Bibles. Well said , I almost added my two cents, but didn't wanna get my hand slapped as well....lol. As far as this song, I think its quite beautiful. But I think all the Rimes fans are gonna be very upset. I'm gonna say this songs gonna be real lucky to break in the top 40. This tune doesn't exactly scream country "radio friendly".

I went back and listened to this song again yesterday and thought, wow, what an amazing vocal and song. It really deserves to be heard, but I am afraid it's not going to catch on at radio :( I hope I am proven wrong!!

LeAnn deserves another hit on country radio.

While I do agree with this part, I must say I still don't think this is gonna be the one for her. I loved Some People much more than this, but if Some People couldn't hardly climb the chart, I don't see this one being able to either.

I'm just glad she's taking a chance at releasing a song that really showcases her vocals. Since Love Is An Army and Weight Of Love weren't released from her last two cds, I thought we probably wouldn't see this one released either.

If I personally had to chose, I'd pick "Fight" as her next single. The vocals are amazing, it's radio friendly, and it's just an all around good song. I don't have anything against "What I Cannot Change" ...I just don't see it being a smash like some of the other songs off her album could be.

I agree with many of the previous posts:
I don't think this will catch on at country radio. But I don't see how if someone likes "Some People" more than this one and SP didn't do well, that WICCC won't do any better. How can the two songs be compared? Just because they're both ballads? No. First off, this is the 3rd single, not the 4th like SP was. Second, the two songs are about completely different topics. Third, they're releasing this one at the end of the summer/beginning of fall, which is normally the ideal time for ballads to be released.
I also agree that "Fight" would have been a better single choice, even though I think that WICCC is a better song.
I also agree, though, that I'm glad they ARE releasing this because I think it is one of her strongest ballads. It was a shame especially that "Love Is An Army" wasn't released. In my opinion, that is one of the best songs EVER performed.
But hey, I also hope this song does catch on. I can't see this being a mediocre hit. I believe it'll either be a dud or huge. It'll either barely make it to top 30, if it does that far, or it will hit at least #2 (because, well..... normally my favorite songs get stuck there).

I'm with bigblue note.
I have never liked the idea of people saying this song will fail because of "Some People" because they are two extremely different songs. I am probably one of the biggest LeAnn fans there is and I did not like "Some People", but it seems like this song is touching every person who hears it. All the comments I've seen about it have all been good.
Now, with that said, I am a bit concerned with how it will do just because it is LeAnn- she, along with others like Sara Evans (her career now reminds me a lot of LeAnn's)- and she is just hit or miss at radio now days. But, this is such a powerful song that many relate to so it may be a hit due to listener demand- well, what's left of it.
Let's just let them release it and see, but don't compare it to "Some People" and its chart run- I think they messed that up with the country version, which, IMHO, was awful!

I don't think it matters that this is only her 3rd single from this album. I still think that even if it had been the second single, that things would have tumbled tremendously.
I just honestly don't think LeAnn is gonna get much support from country radio anymore. If so, they need to shelve Family and move on.

LeAnn just made an appearance on the Red Sox pregame show. She'll be singing the National Anthem at Fenway Park tonight. She also got in a little plug for "What I Cannot Change" at the end of her segment.
And I'll be seeing her in concert tomorrow! :)

if this is Lenn's next single, then why was "Family" at number 28 on the Hot 30 countdown I just listened to?

Yes, actually it was Sirius radio. I have never heaelrd What I Cannot Change on Sirius as of yet. And I have my radio programmed to beep whenever one of Leann's songs comes on. I am in the car 15 hours a day so I wouldn't have missed it. There are some really good songs on "Family" it is only too bad that most of the world will never hear them.

sirius plays whatever they want to, not necessarily an artists next single

Of course they do Zac, that is why I like Sirius. But I have never seen a "non-single" crack their toip 30 show. I've always believed "Family" would be an awesome single so I'm glad they play it so much, but it's confusing. Have a nice nite everyone!

i have seen plenty of non-singles go very far on the Sirius top 30.
Brad's "Waitin' On A Woman" peaked at #2 after the "Time Well Wasted" era was done.
Kenny Chesney's "Just Not Today" went #1 i think.
Dierks Bentley's "Sweet & Wild" is currently on the countdown (or it was a few weeks ago)
and there are a few more, but i can't remember.

I have really been listening to this song lately and I honestly have no hope for it as far as radio is concerned. LeAnn nails it vocally, but I just do not see it catching on at radio.
It's got alot working against it. The previous single flopped, it's extremely slow, she is a female artist, and the album is dead as far as sales are concerned.
I hope she has a strong lead-off single shipped to radio early '09 so she isn't off the radio for too long.

I love what they did to this mix - the shorter intro, the added instruments, and the shorter outro should all help this song. On another LeAnn related note, I picked up this collection today. It contains three albums (Blue, You Light Up My Life, and This Woman) for $14.99. Quite a deal since I didn't own any of those albums.

Awesome, I love this song. Is it faster too? Probably not, but it seemed a bit faster to me than the original, but I haven't listened to it in a while so I can't say for sure. The instrumentation in the beginning is just so haunting--I love it. I hope radio gives this a shot.

It's not faster and sounds exaclty the same in most parts, but I like this better because I hated it being over five minutes and most of that being the long intro and then the outro as well. I like this song because of the way she sings it and you know she wrote this from the heart, but I just am not that big of a fan of this song.
But I hope it's a hit. She needs a hit, she deserves a hit, this song is hit material (yet so was NBTD but it was mediocre at radio, although it proved to be a popular song off of radio). I would say she will definately pick up a nod for this at the Grammys but it's unfortunate that Carrie Underwood's "Just A Dream" will too (just because that song is stellar as well and also deserves a Grammy)- if I am right on the eligibility period.

I'll wait until I hear this on the radio to completely judge, but I had a difficult time deciphering what she was saying on the chorus (hopefully it sounds clearer through actual speakers). It's a beautiful song, and I love the verses, but the chorus leaves a little to be desired for me. I don't expect this song to tank completely, but T20 is probably best case scenario.

"I will learn to let go of what i cannot change. I will learn to forgive what i cannot change. I will learn to love what i cannot change. And I will change, I will change, whatever I can."
is that the part you are talking about? it sounds pretty clear to me.

Yeah, that's the part. Bear in mind that I've only listened to the song once, and these internal speakers on my laptop aren't the best, I just couldn't make out anything but the words "What I Cannot Change". As I said, once I hear it on the radio I'll be able to better judge it.

I pretty much already has this radio edit on my iTunes. I like the intro and outro and all, but they go on forever, even though it is beautiful. So I cut it out on my computer a long time ago.
I'm glad Curb decided to do this radio edit. But really, they had to. Was it even an option?

Weird, that All Access has this.. I don't see it digitally at radio yet, but that doesn't mean they don't have it physically..

For what it's worth, on YouTube, this song has 350,000 views and it isn't even a single...yet. That's pretty good since it isn't a video and up til now, and album track.
I don't think it will be a radio hit, but, if it gets award recognition, it could be a sleeper.
