LeAnn noted in a show a few days ago that this would be the next single and would be out in the coming months.
IMO, they need to kill GFAAGOW and get this one out there ASAP! They always take so much time between singles when they need to rush them to radio. I'm also assuming this will be the last single from "Family". With the bad sales and single success, I think they need to get a new album out- she is going back to the studio next month.

Wow, next month back in the studio already! I've heard the first 2 singles from Family and I thought they were pretty good, but I never heard this one. I'll check it out. :)

Wow! That's what I have to say about that. Curb has made an excellent choice. I know how much LeAnn wanted this to be a single, so I wonder how much influence she had with Curb records.
I have no clue how this will do on radio. If GFAAGOW would have done better, then I would be confident that "What I Cannot Change" will do well. It should do well PERIOD because it's an amazing song - lyrically, instrumentally, and vocally... just perfect in every way possible.
I could see it pulling a "Some People" and not catch on at all. But then, I could see it being the "Probably Wouldn't Be This Way" of the album. If there was any justice at all on counrty radio, this would a multi-week #1.
Oh well, at least people who don't have the album will have a chance to hear this gorgeous song.
And then to hear that she's going back to the studio, I'm thrilled. I've said it about SheDaisy and I'll say it about LeAnn Rimes: I don't care too awfully much how little radio success they have, AS LONG as they keep making music then I'm happy.

This is good news. I think it can do well if given a fair shot. If it gets just enough exposure where people can hear it a couple of times, I think it can settle in for a nice climb.
I think they'd have to edit it because of the length. But I think when they took out the musical interlude for Reba's The Only Promise, it kind of lessened the song a bit.

I am really surprised she is going into the studio already. Seems this CD hasn't been out that long or maybe it has?? I love the CD. I thought there were plenty of songs on there that could have been singles. Family is one of my favorite songs too. Oh well. I do love this song though!

If they follow through with this, I'll be very happy. If LeAnn is ever going to finally shake off the "teen pop/country starlet" image and get taken seriously as an adult, she needs a quality "grown up" song. No, I don't mean "Tic Toc" ;).
WICC doesn't have that hip, upbeat, radio sound to it, so it might not be a radio darling right away. It is a work of art that shows how LeAnn has grown as a writer & performer, though. Fans & critics will love it. I'm just torn on the video. A good story video would be nice, but there's something intriguing about the idea of taping LeAnn onstage, live, in a darkened area, just letting her voice pour out into the night. Maybe they need two videos. :)
I'll stick by my prediction that this song gets nominated for Song of the Year on one of the award shows next year.

I was thinking it might be "Family" since she performed it on the ACM's, but this sounds good too.

They already said no to "Family" a while back and I agree. It's not radio-friendly because there are many parts where it's like NBTD- you almost need an interpreter. While I know what she's saying, way too many complained about NBTD so I know it would only continue.

this during the summer = flop. no one wants to hear a 5 minute slow song while driving down the road with their top down. wait til September to release this

I think she messed up the era with GF&AGOW honestly. I don't know anyone that could even tolerate hearing that song. Reba should've released When You Leave Someone second to get LeAnn back on radio, and LeAnn should have had a better second single. And this era could be in a totally different direction I think. :(

LeAnn noted in a show a few days ago that this would be the next single and would be out in the coming months. What do they consider "coming months"? As slow as they are at doing things this could mean August or September. Zaclord , you might not have to worry about hearing a slow song in the summer. I am a huge LeAnn fan and if she had said the next couple of weeks then I would get excited. Coming months is just to vague.

yes i agree. they really ruined it with releasing GFAAGOW. that shouldn't have even been considered as a single. they should have done "Fight" after, then "Family", then "What I Cannot Change" or switch WICC and F

You have to understand that with LeAnn, coming months could mean a year, haha. There is really no telling, she just said it would be the single.
If it were me, I would rush "Fight" to radio and then close the album out with WICC.

This is my favorite song on the album, so I'm glad it's getting released, but I'm not sure how it will fare coming off of "Good Friend And A Glass Of Wine", which will be lucky to break the top 30 at this point. I think her best chance at getting this to be a hit would be if Reba releases "When You Love Someone Like That" after "Every Other Weekend" peaks, and then release "What I Cannot Change" as the follow up. I hope this can be a big hit though, it's a great song.

Zach, that is what i would do too. i love "Fight" and think it could possibly do very well at radio. and i think "What I Cannot Change" would do better if it was released after a decently charting song, not a complete flop like GFAAGOW. i really hope WICC does well for LeAnn because she does deserve way more success than she is getting. "Nothin' Better To Do" should have gone #1, as it was one of the best songs of 2007 but then it peaked at #13 (correct me if i am wrong)? that was just a complete mess. i really hope LeAnn can just comeback with SOMETHING! i don't really care what (just not GFAAGOW). almost anything on her album i can tolerate, so i just want to hear her on the radio again

Agreed zaclord. She has some of the best music out there, radio just won't play her for some reason and it's very frustrating! Hopefully she'll catch back on soon.
NBTD was a SMASH if you want to put it in popularity terms. They played her 2007 Fan Fair performance of it on the big screens on Thursday night at the CMA Music Fest and (I was in the upper level) and you could hear everyone singing along to the chorus. I thought that was neat. Too bad radio wouldn't play it to #1 because it was, IMO, her best song to date!

Radio has a reluctance to play anything by the majority of female artists out there right now.
I hope this will do well, but I think her best bet would be a little time off and new album. I was majorly disappointed with this album, especially after the outstanding This Woman disc.
"Nothin' Better To Do" was one of the best singles of last year, hands down, and it barely cracked the Top 15. I can't see this one making much of an impact, unfortunately.

i was at Music Fest too and it was awesome to hear everyone sing NBTD. LeAnn sounded great when she sang it too! and NBTD is definitely my favorite song from her too. nod doubt it deserved a few weeks at #1

I just don't get all the hype about "Family". I'm glad it's the first song on the album because I can skip it and listen to the rest of the album, skip-free. The melody is just eh and she has her enunciation problem in this song. I just don't get it....

Curb HAS to send this to pop and AC! There is no way around it! PWBTW did well on AC and this could do just as well. If it was "spruced & shortened-up" a bit, she could have a really big hit on her hands.
What about getting the song on some sort of commercial?
