Wow- did anyone see the big promotion for this song in this week's Country Aircheck?- HA, what a joke! She gets a little mention on a general CURB ad with three other artists and her name and add date (which has been bumped back a week to Aug. 25th- surprise!) under a photo ad for Heidi Newfield. With this type of promotion you know this song will go all the way to Top 50 and stall out there without ever being noticed at radio. On p.3 of this week's Aircheck issue, I'm seeing a banner ad that has equally-sized promo shots of Heidi Newfield, Lee Brice, Tim McGraw, and LeAnn, advertising their songs. The banner is topped with the words "Love, Laugh, Live, Learn"; the word order corresponds to the artist/song order in the ad (so "Love" applies to Heidi Newfield's song, "Laugh" to Lee Brice's, "Live" to Tim McGraw's and "Learn" to LeAnn's. I would actually argue that LeAnn got best placement in that ad...isn't it conventional wisdom in print media that the eyes are naturally drawn to the right?

^Yeah I see that one, but there is another one that's on a Heidi Newfield ad. It's just in a weird place.
S4C, is that a different version that AllAccess has now or the same as posted before?

It's different then the AllAccess version posted before, but the same as the AllAboutCountry one (and presumably the same as the one listed in your signature image). I just like to make sure both the Real Player and Windows Media Player versions are posted (if someone like kevin59 hasn't already posted them) in case someone prefers one player over the other. (As weird as the sounds. ;))

Okay, I have only heard the AllAccess version (the first one), so what is different? I have dial up and can't access the song at a reasonable speed.

I actually like that song more than this one and just as much as 'NBtD'. It was pretty damn catchy, in my opinion, and she looked great in the video. "Good Friend and a Glass of Wine" was just a chick song IMO. Nothing in there that I could identify with. Yeah, it was definitely a chick song, but still catchy with a good video. I guess identifying with music isn't really a big deal to me. As long as it's a decent song, I'll probably like it. I may be thinking of something else, but wasn't there a poll that showed that 'GFaaGoW' actually appealed to more men than women?

Especially coming after NBTD, it just looked quick and cheap with no concept. True proof that even LeAnn nor management or anyone involved expected much out of this song. Such a shame coming after such a string of excellent videos! I'm expecting a great video for "What I Cannot Change." Let's hope my expectations aren't let down. haha

I think LeAnn may be onto something great with this song.
Just take a few minutes and go to some blogs and read listeners' reviews of the song, I don't think I've seen a bad one yet, everyone is liking the song and it's receiving great reviews left and right. Someone even said that Gerry House (DJ in Nashville) played it on his radio show the other morning and had listeners call in their opinions and everyone liked it! That says something right there.
I don't know, I just have a feeling this may be the song that opens people's eyes to the creative talent LeAnn has to write, create, sing, and produce her own music and actually do a great job at it. Hopefully this will get her back on the radio too.
It just stinks I can't go and check Mediabase each day for its performance.

Yeah, I'm also being tortured until this song is in the top 50 on mediabase.

I hope this video is as hauntingly beautiful as the song itself.

For me, this is the only standout track on Family. I hope it does well.
(There are other strong tracks (i.e. "Fight"), but over-all I was disappointed with the album after enjoying This Woman so much. That was just one keeper after another. With Family, I ended up deleting all the tracks on my iPod save for WICC.)

IMO There are several really great tracks on the album: Nothin' Better To Do Fight Family Doesn't Everybody I Want You With Me What I Cannot Change Til We Ain't Strangers Anymore When You Love Someone Like That Nothing Wrong

"Nothin' Better to Do" is a great song and was the perfect choice for the lead single. They really messed up though picking "Good Friend and a Glass of Wine" to follow that up with though.

I think they also need to prepare WICC to send to AC radio as well. I think LeAnn has been a little slack to send any more singles over there, trying to buy back acceptance from country, but when everyone else does it, why not? Plus, I think it could be a super smash there where they still do actually play songs by content instead of artist.
Whatever they choose to do, they need to get a strong video behind this song. After GFAAGOW, we are really due for another good one!

This is easily my favorite song on 'Family.' I love haunting songs like this that are stripped down. I'm still kind of surprise 'Wine' didn't do better. It seemed like an obvious choice for a single and one that would fare well. I just hope WICC gets the recognition it deserves (i.e. like 'Stay') or it will tarnish the song.

This should have been released weeks ago. How is this song tarnished if it does not equal Stay? That does not make any sense to me.

This should have been released weeks ago. I'm guessing they're trying to kill her career. That's the only logical explanation.

^Yeah and over the past few years they have been succeeding. I know people say you can't blame the record label, but in this case, yes you can. I feel like she could have so much more success on a different label. We all know she has the creative ability and the voice, just not the push she needs and the backing to get her recognized and back on radio.

What I meant by tarnished is that it's such an awesome song and to see it not do well on radio will sort of ruin how I look at it. I wouldn't start disliking the song but I want everyone to like it too! If it's not going to do well on radio then I'd rather it not even be released. Hope that makes sense.

I was sad for "Some People" and it cut down the excitement I had for it. But now that it's run is long gone, I still get goosebumps when I hear it. I'm making it the theme for my parents' 30th wedding anniversary this year. yay.

This song gets better with each listen. I think this could potentially be a big hit for her.

^Well, the radio edit anyways. I have enjoyed the song much better since I've had the radio edit. The full song is just too long and it gets boring with all the instrumentation. The radio edit is quick both in and out and leaves you speechless.

I would really like to see radio get this into the Top 20, and in my opinion this is one of LeAnn's better songs vocally and lyrically, but there are no sure bets in Rimes's career.
It's hard to believe there was a time when radio would send a old cover song (UNCHAINED MELODY) recorded by LeAnn prior to "Blue" into the Top three, and now a hit for her is a rare event.

It definately is hard to believe but it seems like having a long career these days is rare especially for a female (ask Lee Ann Womack, Sara Evans and Martina McBride who can't get in the top 20 either).

^Exaclty. And LeAnn has been more fortunate than some of those in the past few years.
However, even though she may not be getting any play on country radio, she still has a thriving career and is VERY POPULAR! Think of all the people who have asked her to duet with her the past few years: Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, Bon Jovi, Hal Ketchum, Marc Broussard, and even Elvis (which is hysterical, btw)! She is always supporting some charity and will soon be featured in ads for Covergirl (I think that's the one) and is also doing commerical spots for some sort of charity as well.
LeAnn will also be one of the performers at the Republican convention. She is on the biggest country tour of the year with the Entertainer of the Year! She had the #2 club dance song of 2007, won an award for her duet video with Bon Jovi, and was nominated for several more, including two Grammys! She also has an independent film coming out sometime this year and is writing and recording her next album.
So, while she may not be so hot at country radio and sales reflect that, she is not in a rough spot in her career, she is still on top of it all 12 years after hitting the scene. I was watching a video of her performing when she first came out in 1996 and there were fans everywhere screaming for her and I made the remark, "That's the 'Carrie Underwood' of the 90's!"
