I'm so glad to see that people here are more confident and excited about this song than before.

It has a very good chance to do very well. I like the comaprisons of "Stay" and if that could do well (although Sugerland is the duo of the month right now), this should too.
The amount of talent in LeAnn's index finger is greater than most pop/country stars entire bodies. It is a shame that she isn't up at the top as she should be. I toodesperately want her on another label. HEY, maybe sh is the one sabotaging so that she will get released and she can explore other options...I don't know.
ITA about this being sent to AC/Hot AC and CHR. It could sneak in and pull off something big.

I just start laughing when people think that if Stay did as well as it did then this should too.
They aren't close to being the same and LeAnn isn't popular enough. I still think it's going to tank.

I agree with Steelo to a degree. I agree that just because Sugarland had a hit with a stripped down song, does not mean LeAnn will. The connection is not likely to exist in the minds of most radio programmers and the two tracks honestly don't sound that similar to me to begin with.
That said, I remain a bit more optimistic about the songs chances of becoming a hit.

i don't think it will completely tank. i say it will do about as well as Trisha's last single. hopefully it will go much higher though

just got emailed from LeAnn's official website:
What I Cannot Change
LeAnnRimesWorld.com will have some exciting news surrounding the release of LeAnn's latest single, "What I Cannot Change." Keep an eye out early next week to see how you can become involved in what's sure to be a huge song for LeAnn! ---
I'm curious now!! I'm wondering if they decided to promote the single properly

I still have not heard this song on the radio. Is it even released yet? My local radio stations have a habit of not playing Leann's new songs right away. I had to practically BEG them to play NBTD. Anyway, I would have thought Sirius would have been playing it by now. I wonder what the hold up is.
I answered my own question by reading the upcoming singles thread. Release date August 25. it should STILL be on sirius by now, though.

My station never plays her until at least three or four weeks after the song has been released, don't know why though. Hopefully it will begin catching on soon.

Bks, it may be more expensive for them since they are from Europe if I remember correctly.
I haven't heard this song, well the radio edit yet. I did hear it though last night on sirius so maybe it'll pick up more off of there soon?

I haven't even heard LeAnn say if they've shot a video yet or not. Hopefully so as they need to get it out ASAP!

My station hardly ever plays her music. The newest single of hers that I've heard on there was 'Something's Gotta Give', and that was probably about 2 years ago. I haven't heard 'NBTD' or 'GFAAGOW' on there once.

But then again, these are the same stations that are playing stuff like Bailey Grey (yuck), so...

WOW...this song got its own website! That's awesome promotion for the song. Go to www.leannrimesworld.com and watch the video of LeAnn talking about the song and then you can click SHARE YOUR STORY at whaticannotchange.com. This is great, very nice idea!

The email I got from Country Aircheck's weekly adds advertised this song as going for adds on August 25th on the top of the email. That's a pretty good start (along with 2 adds already)

I finally heard this song on Sirius and all I can say is....AMAZING! WOW! INCREDIBLE!! I had not heard this song before, since I don't have the CD and I was wondering what all the fuss was about, and now I know. Her vocals are incredible, and I especially like when she goes into her little falsetto a bit on some of the song. .She has never sounded better in my opinion. This song sort of reminds me of how she sounded on "Love Is An Army", one of my all time favorites which was never released.
My only fear about this song is that radio may think it's too slow, but I'm not sure. When I heard it, the guy on Sirius introduced it saying "This is about as close to a prayer as I think you'll hear...".. And I think he's right. The only problem is that it will be one of those 25-30 week climbers and that might not leave time for her fantastic duet with Reba to be released. Anyway, this song is absolutely terrific and I'm glad they're finally playing it. Now if only the other stations will catch on. Have a nice day!
EDIT: I had to add one small foot note after seeing all the comparisons with "Stay" and Sugarland. When I heard this song on Sirius yesterday it was immediately followed by "Want To" by Sugarland. It was a perfect segue, and it was really interesting to compare the two voices back to back. They are both tremendous and both have a place on the radio. I prefer Leann, but Sugarland is definitely an awesome talent and I hope the song CAN do as well.

I'm not too concerned if she has any more huge hits soon anyway. I saw her live in a very small venue and it was amazing. She doesn't need to do the big shows, she already has a good enough song collection and can command the stage as good as anyone. This song though, deserves to be a hit.

that site is really nice. will be sending my story! haha. I hope this song blows up at radio. I know I always make this comment in the LeAnn thread, but I cannot help it--I HOPE AC Plays this song and it becomes huge there! This is a great song for both formats!

I just read through a few pages of stories on WICC.com, and damn, some of them are really depressing. It's cool to see that LeAnn has inspired and helped so many people with her music, though.

I wish they'd at least say something about a video. This song seems to have the pattern of "Some People." Fan favorite, rave reviews, LeAnn calls it her favorite recorded song to date, etc. I just hope it turns out much more successful. Anyways, if anyone is interested, here's a song that didn't make it onto Family for whatever reason, but may appear on the next album. I WISH I WAS WRONGIt's the right thing This has nothing to do with loving each other It's too easy repeating the saddest lie we ever told To keep staying just for the sake of it I think this time we both know There's no way around us facing it I wish I was wrong, oh I wish I was wrong Truth is we were gone long ago I don't know why we keep holding on I wish I was wrong, oh I wish I was wrong I can't help but wonder what we'll do without each other You'll go your way, I'll go my way Let's promise that we won't run back Even when the memories kick in Just remember that we'll be better off being just friends I wish I was wrong, oh I wish I was wrong Truth is we were gone long ago I don't know why we keep holding on I wish I was wrong, oh I wish I was wrong When we walk, we're not human if we don't second guess If we're not looking back with a hint of regret If we don't lose our minds when we're asking ourselves What we should've, what we could've, what we would've done different I wish I was wrong I wish I was wrong, oh I wish I was wrong Gotta work up the nerve Let it bruise, let it hurt We both have to be strong I wish I was wrong, oh I wish I was wrong I wish I was wrong, oh I wish I was wrong. DOWNLOADwww.yousendit.com/download/Q01IYUlwYUllM1R2Wmc9PQ(I hope that works.)

^Very nice, thanks.
That song is actually quite better than most of the songs on "Family". I don't know where/when you got this, but that recording is good as well- she enunciates really well in it, I understood every word without lyrics!
