Michelle Branch
"Everything Comes and Goes" (Warner Bros. Nashville, summer)
On her next solo album, Branch stays on the country path she began with the Wreckers, the duo she formed with Jessica Harp. The artist's first solo set since 2003's "Hotel Paper" sounds like "a really natural progression from the Wreckers," she says. "It's more singer/songwriter than, I would say, country, but I think the term 'country' is all relative now. There's really no room for singer/songwriters anymore at radio, so I think this is a natural step." Dwight Yoakam duets with Branch on "Long Goodbye."

Shouldn't we have recieved a single by now?
And I'm honestly a little sad that it's still going to have a country direction to it, I liked The Wreckers, but no where near as much as I loved Michelle's solo studio albums.

It ruined her solo career when she formed The Wreckers.
I don't think this will be big, and with it being pushed to rot somewhere in the summer, it might flop.

She's been at her best playing with others I think
The Santana songs, for example, are my favorites

There's really no room for singer/songwriters anymore at radio Umm... I don't know about that Michelle. Well they seem to be making their way back, but I'm Yours and Love Song could be one-hit wonder phenomenons (yes, I know Remedy was a hit)... There isn't really a singer-songwriter 'superstar' at the moment the same way Alanis Morissette, Fiona Apple or Bob Dylan were.

Well when she was out, it was her, Avril, Pink, and Vanessa Carlton. Avril and Pink are still doing fine, and then you have the occasional random singer-songwriter hit just like you did back then. I'd say singer-songwriters have a better shot now then they had the last time she was around, when most hits required a crunk beat. That statement just leads me to believe that she's lost touch with popular music, which also leads me to believe that she probably won't have a successful comeback.

Did the reason for the breakup of The Wreckers ever come out?

I'm not sure of the real reason, but I remember her making a comment in 2006 about how The Wreckers wasn't the "real" her, and that she would have preferred to do a folkier album, which was kind of funny because that was only about a year after she said she was tired of her solo career because she was being forced to do music that wasn't the "real" her.

Then what is the real her?

I hate when anybody uses that excuse. It's annoying. A better reason would be "that was me then. I've lost interest in that." or whatever. People change.

It looks from her website her cd will be delayed. She is adding 2 additional songs to it. She does say she will have some of her This Way song and video on her site Monday. There is some rumor she will be touring with Holly Williams later. I'm not sure, but they are singing together with Yusef Islam on a song on his new album.

Its on the front of her website now. I'm not sure how to rip it off,or if it would be proper to do so. The song is so good with the pedal steel entry into it. She also looks so pretty also. She says somemore present next Monday.

The song is nice, but I don't quite get what she's going for. The song is way too pop for Country, and the steel guitars make it too Country for pop.

I am a big fan of Michelle Branch. I appreciate her solo work the most though. My favorite album was probably The Spirit Room, even though I enjoyed Hotel Paper a lot too. There were a lot of songs on Hotel Paper I really loved like Tuesday Morning, Empty Handed, and Find Your Way Back.
