Well, actually I have seen quite a few thumbs up reviews over there recently. I was kind of surprised he didn't like this one. He liked both Lee Ann and Leann's new song :)
Oops, well the other Leann was reviewed by someone else.

I don't agree with everything in that review, but he's right about the bridge. It just seems forced and unneccessary to me. Not to mension that Toby's big voice sounds rather awkward trying to talk that fast.

I'm not sure if I like this or not yet. It's a big step up from his last few releases (but that's not necessarily saying much). This pales in comparison to a lot of his 90s stuff, but I'm glad it's not a novelty song.

If I counted correctly, this has become Toby's 34th top 10 single (35th if you count "Hey Good Lookin'"). It's also his first top 10 since "Love Me If You Can."
This song really wore out on me pretty quickly. It's strange that they're waiting another 8 weeks to release the album since this single will be 18 weeks old by then.

This song has no burn for me. I've heard it a lot on radio and on my computer and still love it. So glad it's doing well.
Looks to me that Toby is trying a different strategy. The past 2 or 3 albums, he has released one song before the album was released. Then he has released a second single a week or two before the album dropped. .......... It seems that he's going the opposite direction and letting his first single climb the charts and take time to hit the top 5 and stay there for multiple weeks to really get the song heard before releasing the album.
Wonder if this'll work for him? His first week album sales have been consistently declining (excluding his 35 hits album) since "Shock N Yall" sold somewhere near 535,000 (if I remember correctly) in its first week. Hopefully that declining trend will end and his album will sell better than the 205,000 that "Big Dog Daddy" sold in its first week.

I really like hearing this side of Toby. It's always nice to hear a different side of an artist. I really hope this goes #1 cause it's a GREAT song and Toby deserves another huge hit. :)

I would not mind seeing him do something else different and not release a video. Just let the song stand on its own and see what happens.

It took some looking but I finally found this thread.
This is in good shape to make #1 after Kenny if he can keep it up. Maybe it will be at the top in 4 weeks.

Is this the next contender for the top spot?

I think so. Carrie is about 1.2 million behind..and Kenny is beginning to drop.

I do hope so. This is a mature side of Toby that I admire so very much, and although it's not a side that has been missing from his recent albums, it is one that has been missing from his single choices. I hope that this following Love Me If You Can to the top-spot (punctuated by the failure of She's A Hottie) will encourage him to be more willing to put some of his more thoughtful work out there. If anyone is interested, his official web site has some clips from the forthcoming album, and I have to say - after declaring my interest as a big Toby Keith fan - that they bode extremely well for an impressive album.

I think so. Carrie is about 1.2 million behind..and Kenny is beginning to drop. It will be a challenge, as the Billboard audience numbers were 33.2 for Kenny (a 0.8 increase), 30.8 for Toby (another +0.8), and 29.7 for Carrie (+2.0). I was thinking he'd have a better chance if he was heading into next week closer to Kenny than Carrie was to him. I could see Kenny losing a mill of his lead, I'm just not sure if Toby will hold up his end of the bargain. At least, with yet another big ad on the Country Aircheck issue last night, they still appear to be promoting the song as much as possible. But "It's OcTOBY!"??? Whichever promotional guru came up with that line needs to be fired pronto. ADDED: At least it was a good first day of the chart week on Mediabase for Toby's chances, him with a +0.37 mill audience gain from yesterday, Carrie a +0.324, and Kenny a -0.133. Six more just like that would do the trick. And if Toby shows up at #1 on R&R's Real Time Tracker by Friday, would be another good sign.

Well, with today's Mediabase update (and the fact that he's holding on to the #1 spot on the Real-Time Tracker), I think it's a pretty safe bet Toby will hold on to the #1 spot and be #1 on next week's Billboard chart. In today's update, Toby gained 0.418 million AI's today, Kenny lost 0.175 million AI's, and Carrie lost 0.078 million AI's, so it's obvious Toby is getting the push this week. And, if Toby and Kenny end up flip-flopping whenever the weekend arrives (which I doubt happens), Toby will still have the advantage since Kenny will lose the extra CCUSA spin that he had last weekend. At least, with yet another big ad on the Country Aircheck issue last night, they still appear to be promoting the song as much as possible. But "It's OcTOBY!"??? Whichever promotional guru came up with that line needs to be fired pronto. Well, it must be a clever line because it's working!

If this song makes number one, I will 'eat my hat.' I like Toby Kieth and respect his music for the most part, but how this song is even in the top ten is beyond me.

Can I suggest readying whatever condiments will make that 'hat' palatable? ;) This song is holding steady at #1 on the R&R Real Time Tracker and looks good to take over the #1 spot on Mediabase soon (maybe not in time to be Country Aircheck's #1 this week, but it'll be very close). I'm opposite from you in that I don't care for Toby Keith as a songwriter or personality and think most of his music is a waste of a very good voice, but I'm not surprised this is going to reach #1. Although I think it is horribly oversung and not very nuanced in its lyric, it's very much in the Rascal Flatts power ballad vein that, although it hasn't taken RF to #1 recently, tends to work pretty well on current country radio.

"God Love Her" was the first track sent out to radio today as part of the "Track A Day" program. It looks like Show Dog will be sending out a new track everyday this week. I'd say "God Love Her" is the leading candidate for the second single since it was the first track sent out and it already has a video.

With the confirmation from Hit Predictor (still no update for R&R's Chart Highlights), this is now Toby's 17th Billboard #1, tying him for 21st place all-time, with the Oak Ridge Boys, Eddie Rabbitt, Mickey Gilley, and Don Williams. Also, it's his 49th total week to occupy the #1 slot in his career.
