I dont like when they cut the performances though. The trend started last year they cut them like they do there videos on TRL so they been doing that way before this, hahaha

I hate, hate hate when award show hosts go off on a political tangent. Shut up! I don't care if I agree or disagree, I don't want to hear that s**t at an awards show! And his constant talk about the Jonas Brothers was painfully unfunny. Stick to making fun of celebrities or pop culture, please.
Oh, and Britney. WTF. She looked nice. But, seriously? That was it? Her presence did not anywhere NEAR warrant the endless promotion or speculation. MTV is mostly to blame for this but Brit's team isn't innocent either. They knew damn well what they were doing when they released that video of her dancing. And POM's sweep? Please. You're telling me she's been nominated a bazillion times and has never won but suddenly swept the awards in ONE night which coincides nicely with her "comeback" image? Ugh. Sorry, but that just rings false to me. POM didn't deserve it (her previous videos did though, go figure). I am glad she looks better.
Rihanna, I love you but girl you NEED to work on your stage presence, like yesterday.
Pink and Paramore kicked ass.
Christina was looking like Brooke Hogan :( I did like her show but was not feeling her outfit. I liked the Genie remix.
I loved when Slash started to laugh about Linkin Park. That was great!
Loved, loved, loved Kanye's closing song.
All in all, this show was all hype and very little delivery. Britney being over hyped to the max and then getting about two minutes of air time, Russell Brand not being as funny as he thinks he is to the uninterested crowd (which I think was mostly filled with celebs. The hell. Bring back the fans! While they're at it, bring back New York) it just fell flat.

MTV gave Britney those awards out of sympathy. Sway alluded to it. I think MTV humiliated Brit's fans. The fans were inconsequential. Britney is blameworthy too.

Britney A+
Fat kid from Superbad F-
Rihanna "Disturbia" B+
Lil Wayne F
Kid Rock D+
Kayne West F- Boring as hell
Christina Aguilera C+ (since she lip synced which is unusual for her)
TI? and Rihanna F
Jonas Brothers F (vocals OK but screaming fans are a turn off and that song sucks ass)
Pink A+ (best performance of the evening)
Katy Perry F (her voice sounded horrible)
Miley Cyrus A (I think Rock Band said she was in tune)
Paramore B
If anyone else performed they didn't even register to me.
Russel Brand A+ hilarious
Jordin Sparks A for hilarity on sluts
Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus arriving in same limo A+
Taylor Swift banging a Jonas Brother F
Ashley Tisdale A+ for looking f'n hot
Josh Peck F for looking high and unclean

The first headline about the show on my homepage says, "Britney Fails to Surprise at MTV Awards". Seems like the media noticed the ridiculous hype as well.

While there were some good parts to the show-- ie- chris brown, rihanna, christina, kid rock and kanye--- the rest was pathetic.
The host was offensive, annoying, and boring. I do not want to hear about politics at the VMAS- and who is he to insult our president so brutally? I am not saying I am a big fan of bush myself-- but somehow it offended me that a UK celeb comes in and bashed our president for like 20 minutes. It was way over the top-=- and inappropriate.
Second-- He was SO OFFENSIVE to insult the Jonas Brothers for their decision to wear promise rings. Even if it is all a disney ploy like the lie that britney was a virgin--- it really hurt alot of teens and kids--- and it was very insulting. They have every right to be pure and have Christian values if they desire- and for that jerk to bash them like that-- made me want to slap him. They looked pretty down too when they showed them in the crowd.
JORDAN SPARKS ROCKS FOR PUTTING HIM IN HIS PLACE! You go girl!
I think it was an insult to Chris Brown that Britney beat him for Video of the year... and an insult to the other more deserving ladies who she beat for her other 2 awards. I am fine with her winning one pity award-- but seriously---- the VMAS are so political and fixed-- I truly do not think that the votes count.
Not that I wanted miley or katy perry to win Best new artist necessarly-- but does anyone here actually think the Tokyo hotel dudes got more votes then Miley? lol come on people. Talk about fixed!

This is the VMAs... not say the Nick Kids Choice. Expect there to be sex, drugs, and rock and roll.

^ No kid deserves to be mocked and ridiculed for being clean.
I expected to see the usual flash of private parts from britney-- but I did not prepare myself for innocent teens getting humiliated in front of the whole world for their beliefs. Not cool.

^ wow so everyone here thinks it was ok to bash the jonas brothers like that? wow.
They are just kids-- how would you feel if that happened to you at that age in front of the whole world?
I am not a teen or a jonas brothers fan-- but I really felt for them tonight.
No one deserves to be ridiculed for their beliefs especially if it is a religious belief.

No one deserves to be ridiculed for their beliefs especially if it is a religious belief. That's actually all the more reason to ridicule it. That's like saying the KKK don't deserve to be ridiculed because they justify all their bigotry by saying that THE BIBLE says that heterosexual caucasians are superior to everyone else. Seriously, all this superstition and ignorance regarding sex is so Puritan. It's time to move on as a country.
