I've found a few websites regarding this now. Please tell me this is a joke.
In July 2008, Tim McGraw's new single and the title track of his album, "Let It Go," was released to country radio. Tim McGraw will release his third Greatest Hits package, "Greatest Hits 3" on October 7th, 2008... The album will feature 12 tracks. No new material was recorded for the compilation. A new album of all new material was scheduled for release in October, but has since been pushed back to 2009
WHAT'S GOING ON OVER AT CURB?

Not sure. Guess they are trying to get all the CDs they can out of Tim before his contract is up. Although there are a # of artirst with a number of different GH cd packets and there's no big deal over it.

his career has just fallen apart with his last horrendous album. time to change labels, style, sound etc and get back to the Tim everyone used to love.

I don't believe Tims career is in any serious trouble yet .Nor do I believe his last record was "horrendous" by any means. I think the entire album lost its momentum when Tim decided to perform If You're Reading This right as I Need You was flying up the charts. I believe the success of the record was just derailed at that moment. As others have stated the record as a whole was actually good by 2008 standards. The only two singles I had problems with were Suspicions & Last Dollar (which even went #1, so what do I know).
Kristofferson was my favorite from the record and probably my favorite song from a major recording artist of the last two years. I thought it was great that an artists had the gonads to release an actual traditional country drinking song in todays rehashed pop environment, where theres little difference between country's current rising star and Hannah Montana. Were they expecting it to be huge? Of course not. The genre turned its back on the core audience years ago, and now chasing the teen market like a rabid dog. Your average country listener wouldn't know Merle Haggard if they bumped into him on the street, and certainly didn't want to hear Kristofferson which sounded like something Merle might have cut in his hey days. But it did go top 20, and I'm guessing thats all they were hoping for to bridge this record to the next.
Curb is obviously going thru some restructuring and perhaps they are even in there death throws. I actually kinda hope they are. Theres no excuse for major recording artists to have no more control over there on destiny's then Tim and LeAnn. I suspect thats the reason for the Greatest hits 2.5 package. Perhaps there trying to make a few bucks just as the ship is sinking. Why Tim doesn't have more control over his own career as others seem to is beyond me. Maybe it has more to do with the shady dealings of your average Independent record label. Thats the reason most were ran out of town in the 60's and 70's....

I think the entire album lost its momentum when Tim decided to perform If You're Reading This right as I Need You was flying up the charts. I believe the success of the record was just derailed at that moment. That's exactly what I think happened. Neither of them performed to their full possibilities (not that I wanted either to, other then for the sake of most every other song on the album). Then he had to release a remake. Much less one that was so disliked... Follow it up with something so unlike what radio is playing now (Kristofferson) and you've killed the album and risking your career. I do think he'll be able to come back from it. But he/Curb is rubbing salt on an open wound by prolonging the release of a new album.

I agree. The decision to perform "If You're Reading This" derailed the album, as well as "I Need You", which I firmly believe was at least headed top 3 (and probably #1). Had IYRT been a single after "I Need You" (and not at the same time), he could've been 3 for 3 as far as #1s go. But, it didn't go that way, and the two initial singles derailed things even further. I actually believe that the release of "Let It Go" as a single is the best decision Curb has made with regards to this album. The third hits package may also allow a little room to breathe between studio albums, which is probably also a good thing.

I think Last Dollar is not only the worst song on the album but one of the worst of Tim's career. Why it went #1 is beyond me. ???

I concur....Last Dollar = Last Nerve Any song that contains the lyrics "Everybody say ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha ha," should not chart, much less reach number 1. I guess little kids like it or something...

I guess little kids like it or something... I'm 22 and I like it. Yeah, my roommate loves the song too. It's either a like it or hate it thing I guess. Considering the song went #1, I guess the like crowd outweighed the hate crowd.

I concur....Last Dollar = Last Nerve I wrote a parody of this song entitled "Last Nerve (Go Away)". Go dig up the Last Dollar thread if you want to find it. Any song that contains the lyrics "Everybody say ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha ha," should not chart, much less reach number 1. I guess little kids like it or something... I'm 21 and I like it. It's just a silly, harmless song. He sounds so happy on it that I can forgive him some silly lyrics. Plus, it was written by Big Kenny, who really knows how to be silly.

GHV2 was just before Let It Go right? So there's going to be singles from Let It Go and the ones from LLYWD that they didn't put on V2? Maybe we can finally have Blank Sheet of Paper released.

Tim McGraw is not involved with the release of this GH #3 album, not at all. Based on what my DJ talked about yesterday on the air, and what info I know, Tim has ONE more studio album left on his contract and they are doing everything possible to delay it.
As you know his first GH album was against his wishes and that was the reason there was no new singles. Even with that its sold over 5.9 million copies and that was before the limited edition GH album came out a couple months a ago.
The 2000 GH has been the #1 or #2 country catalog album of the year since 2003.
His 2006 GH was against his wishes and that came from Tim's own mouth, he was all set to release Let It Go but it was going to be called Train #10 in November 2005 but Curb put a hold on it and released the GH instead. The new songs in that album were supposed to be on the Train #10 album.
Tim was all set to release the Southern Voice album earlier this year but the label held it up and released Suspicions instead. The album like my DJ stated yesterday is 100% complete and has been, the LABEL is holding it up not Tim.
Tim doesn't even mention the GH #3 on his own site, no advertising, no news it is 100% against his wishes. He takes alot of pride in his albums and doesn't just throw anything together just to have something out there, CURB is giving him the shaft trying to squeeze every penny out of him they can and delay that LAST studio album on his contract. Heck Curb is putting all kinda double disc packs of his albums out there, has anybody been to Walmart lately. They are not Tim's doing he ignores even mentioning them on his own site. They have a double pack of Set This Circus Down with Let It Go, double pack with All I Want with Not A Moment Too Soon, even a triple pack.
I think Curb should be ashamed how they are treating a artist that has made them millions over the years.

Even though it's low, it makes sense what Curb is doing.
Think about it, after Tim leaves to go to his own label, who is going to be the money maker at Curb?...... Jo Dee? LeAnn Rimes? Steve Holy? Clay Walker? Sawyer Brown? I don't think so.
The only artists I can see giving Curb some good sales is Rodney Atkins, who is well on his way up there. Also, Heidi Newfield has the potential.
Other than those two (and the other few I mentioned), Curb has no other artist that they every TRY to support. So it makes sense to milk Tim McGraw for all he's worth before he leaves. I don't condone it in the least, but it does make sense.

I agree with you---but this is still very reprehensible behavior on the part of his label.
'Let It Go' is definitely not a horrendous CD, but several of the choices for singles from both it and the GH Reflected CD were pretty dumb.
'If You're Reading This' finished eighth on BBs year-end chart last year, nine slots higher than 'Last Dollar' did, so that wasn't too shabby.
I really don't think that having the rather lengthy period of overlapping on the charts between it and 'I Need You' turned out to be a problem for most country PDs out there.
He's been at odds with his label for years, but if he leaves, Curb is going to be in big trouble.
Based on their treatment of him, I'd say that they deserve it!!!
'Train #10' would have undoubtedly been a huge single, and might have spent several weeks at #1, and possibly stopping the underwhelming 'Beer In Mexico' from topping the charts in the process.

This is pitiful. Tim McGraw is a SUPERSTAR. He has sold millions and millions and has had well over 20 #1 hits. I don't understand why he has absoutely no power over his career at this point. It's so confusing.

I wouldn't be surprised if the first week sales figures for this CD turn out to be the worst for any CD he's released in the past 10-12 years.
The fact that 'Let It Go' is streaking up the charts is wonderful, but there's no compelling reason for buying this repackaged and thoroughly insulting stuff.

1. 'Back When' 2. 'Last Dollar (Fly Away)' 3. 'If You're Reading This' 4. 'Do You Want Fries With That' 5. 'Unbroken' 6. 'Can't Be Really Gone' 7. 'Angry All the Time' 8. 'Suspicions' 9. 'Find Out Who Your Friends Are' (with Tracy Lawrence and Kenny Chesney) 10. 'Let It Go' 11. 'Real Good Man' 12. '9 Lives' (with Def Leppard)
I can honestly say I don't even remember this Can't Be Really Gone song.

I can honestly say I don't even remember this Can't Be Really Gone song. Really? It was a #2 hit back in '96 (and a #1 on R&R), and one of Tim's absolute best songs of his career, IMO.

Was it on Everywhere?
I still think this is a pretty awful tracklist. 4 of the songs are on Let it Go, and 2 of the songs aren't even his songs!

Tim hates Mike Curb so I'm not surprised.

All I Want is his best album by far IMO. I loved the sound with the heavy drums. It just has an overall different feel to it than any other album I own. I wish he could make another album that sounds half that good.
I can't believe that Curb is doing this. It has been said that the American buying public is stupid, but I am not so sure that is the case anymore with prices going up on EVERYTHING including CD's. There is no way in the world I would spend 15-18 dollars on this especially if I already have the two albums that this track list pulls the most from. If I wanted FOWYFA or Nine Lives, I would just go download it. I agree with an earlier post that it is hard to believe that Tim dosen't have more pull with what goes on. He must have signed his current contract when he was a nobody (Memory Lane) because if he signed it later than that, all new artists could really learn a lesson on this one.

I honestly don't think he's put out a bad studio album, but those two still rise above the rest for me.
