I agree, great video.
Billboard is now crediting this song to Reba as well as Brooks & Dunn, so I wonder how it will be treated if it ends up doing really well (ie. #1). Would it be considered her 23rd #1?

Here is behind the scenes footage from the video as well as a rehearsal clip of the song for the CMAs...and you get to hear how the chorus was supposed to sound.

sbp17 - THANKS so much. Good stuff--too bad the mics weren't working for the earlier chorus at the CMAs.
Awesome new video!!!!

I'm much happier with Reba's contribution after seeing the video. It's truly one of B&D's best videos.

What the heck. This is the second week that Bob Kingsley's ripped out the third verse. How dare he.

I think they've been having issues this week (they shorten songs all the time, but still). I posted in another thread about this. Just now on CT40 they played the longer album version of Montgomery Gentry's "Gone", but with the Hammond solo cut out, which is almost as weird.

Attention all Reba fans! Saturday night at the Las Vegas Hilton during Brooks & Dunn's show, Reba came out and sang Cowgirls Don't Cry with them. The audience went wild. It was so cool!

I like the solo version better. The key change in the Reba version is just too jarring.

Does anyone have the chart run for this song? The version with Reba has been out for two months and I think it's barely moved up in that time.

Does anyone have the chart run for this song? The version with Reba has been out for two months and I think it's barely moved up in that time. Debuted on Billboard's 10/25 chart, is now 14 weeks old: 40-34-29-23-21, made top 20 in chart week 6, 19-17-15-13 (so far so good) - 15-14-14-14-13 (treading water) That's a long time in the teens. Should go top 10 next week, though, with Zac and MG going recurrent and RF dropping to #11, or at least as of Saturday on a pace to drop to #11. The good news -- the song's almost 3 mill ahead of George Strait and more than 6 mill ahead of Taylor. But I'd be surprised to see this one build to an audience of 30 million.

I'm not giving up hope. As I've said before, it's the best track off Cowboy Town. I didn't think Sugarland or Brad/Keith were going to make it and they both did.

well Sugarland and Brad/Keith were obviously going to do well because Brad Keith and Sugarland are 3 of the biggest names in country music. Brooks & Dunn is not at that superstar level anymore. they have not hit #1 for a long time and i really doubt this will go #1. i think they will be lucky if this goes top 5. but this is by far, my favorite single off their very poor album.

Blargh, why does CT40 keep ripping out the final verse? is this their way of dodging the whole Reba thing entirely?

Even without this being released with Reba, CDC has been in the upper Top Ten I-Tunes songs forever as well as the video being in the top Five.
Glad to see it's in the RTM Top Five as well!
If there is any justice in the radio system this will go to #1. Great to hear country on country radio :).

If there is any justice in the radio system this will go to #1. Great to hear country on country radio :). I wouldn't quite go that far. I like the sound and style of the song, but the lyrics are very pedestrian to me. Plus I've really grown tired of the dying songs, and this one reminds me way too much of "You Can Let Go". I still expect this to go T5, but it's not going to pass the mega-trio in front of it, and Taylor will likely be waiting right behind those three.

From Allaboutcountry.com:
Brooks & Dunn Set Chart History Cowgirls Don't Cry With Reba Available Digitally Soon
Brooks & Dunn write a little chart history this week, as Cowgirls Don’t Cry – featuring Reba McEntire – vaults into the Top 10 making it Brooks & Dunn’s 41st Top 10 single.
Their track record on the charts now surpasses that of legendary group Alabama as the duo or group with the most Top 10 country singles in the 19-year history of Nielsen BDS-monitored airplay.
Brooks & Dunn’s original version is on their Cowboy Town album, but demand for the special radio version featuring Reba has sparked its release as a digital single, arriving February 10th.

Now that this is #9, I wonder if Billboard counts this as a top 10 for Reba. If they do, this is #56 which means that she has (finally) broken her tie with Dolly Parton to have the most top 10s for a female artist.

Congratulations REBA and Brooks & Dunn...
REBA'S 56: Until this week, Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton were tied for having the most top 10 hits for a female artist in the 65-year history of Hot Country Songs.
Parton scored her 55th top 10 single the week of Jan. 14, 2006, when "When I Get Where I'm Going" by Brad Paisley featuring Dolly Parton marched 11-8 (the song eventually reached the top spot).
McEntire's earned her 55th top 10 hit the week of Aug. 4, 2007, when "Because of You," credited as "Reba McEntire duet with Kelly Clarkson," jumped 12-10, eventually reaching No. 2.
The Reba/Dolly tie is broken this week, thanks to a 13-9 move for "Cowgirls Don't Cry" by Brooks and Dunn featuring Reba McEntire. The song is McEntire's 56th top 10 hit, and the 41st for Brooks & Dunn. That breaks another tie -- just counting since the charts were first compiled using Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems airplay information, Brooks & Dunn have more top 10 hits than any other duo or group. Until this week, Brooks & Dunn were tied with Alabama with 40 each.

Hmm, I wonder why B&D are better received in Canada? This, "Put a Girl in It", and "Proud of the House We Built" were all #1's in Canada but it looks like this album's going to be 0 for 4 in the US.

They might have to settle for another top three single with this tune, but that's pretty respectable nevertheless.
