This has been confirmed for Christian radio, and since Switchfoot has sent the same singles to Christian and mainstream radio, I think it's safe to assume that "We Are One Tonight" is also the mainstream single. That being said... I think this is okay. The first time through, that is. It gets old for me on second play.

This may their most pop-sounding song to date.
I think its a good choice for a second single. I saw a commercial with this song hyping the Olympics on NBC. If this becomes the unofficial NBC theme song, thats great exposure for these guys.

Well it's a song by a Christian rock band, sort of like You & Me is a song by a Christian rock band (Lifehouse). If you consider that a Christian song, then I guess so.

Well, "More Than Fine, "Gone", and "Ammunition" were Christian radio-only singles. So, let's not jump to major conclusions too far.

I was hoping this would be a single when I first heard it, assuming it is. It's one of the more pop friendly tracks on the album, but I'm not sure if it'll do much here since "Stars" had a tough time making the top 40.

I'm interested in hearing this. Hopefully it's somewhat better than "Stars".

I'm interested in hearing this. Hopefully it's somewhat better than "Stars". I think this is better. It almost sounds like something that was made for the 90s. The only thing I don't like about it is the weak bridge. "Stars" was mediocre to me and wasn't nearly as good as "Meant To Live" and "Dare You To Move," or even "This Is Your Life." Whether this will be a hit or not is hard to say but I think it'll either be as big as their previous singles or it'll flop. I really hope it becomes one though because it deserves to be IMO and it's perfect for radio.

I like the song, but it ain't my favorite of the album. I would've preferred 'Lonely Nation' or 'Setting Sun' as a second single. I also think 'Happy is a Yuppie Word' would do very well on Alternative, where support for the band has somewhat wained.
Anyways, GO SWITCHFOOT WHOO! ;)

I like this and it deserves top 20 at least, I wouldn't be surprised if it peaked around #15 in May-June.

From the title, I thought this would be a "TIYL"-like ballad. I think this has a shot at the top 20, but it could just as easily be a relative flop like "Stars".

It's also on the American Idol commercials. Nice duo as far as ratings, huh?

I didn't know that. I don't follow CCR. Anyway, I adore "Gone" and wanted that to be a single. The great thing about Switchfoot's songs is that the lyrics are interesting and meaningful whether you're religious or not. The songs work on multiple levels.

I think I'm going to buy this album. I love this song! I bought their first album back in 2003 and loved it. I liked "Stars" but it really didn't convince me that the album was going to be something worth buying, but this song totally does it for me. I hope this is huge for them, it deserves top 10!

That's what I initially thought when I first saw this as a song title on the album without having heard it at the time. But it isn't. The song is definitely politically based. I think it's about unity in a patriotic sense, to stick together as a country. To not let a man stand alone and to have someone stand by you during chaotic circumstances (like in the middle of a war).

You know, you're right... the more I listen to it, the more I agree... it actually reminds me a little of Liefhouse's "Hanging By A Moment"... very catchy and memorable... If CHR gives this a chance, it could be VERY big!!!

^^^ Hmmm... sounds like the "Walk Away" syndrome that I'm going through right now... I'm over 20 listens on that one and it's still not growing on me..... :(
This one though, I'm only 5 listens in and it's already in my top 50... :)

They are having a lot more success at CHR than many more established, non Christian groups... weird, but I definitely don't mind that they are doing so well there... If this goes t-10 it will be their 3rd t-10 hit... that's pretty amazing for a CC group/artist... Only Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith have had that kind of success at mainstream radio, and you really can't count Amy's as she basically changed from a Christian artist to a pop artist...

Heard this on the radio tonight (on the local Christian station)... must say it sounds really good on the air... CHR REALLY needs to give this one a shot...
