The only affected stations would be WBLI/Long Island, KELZ/San Antonio, and WAPE/Jacksonville, so yeah, they probably will be dropped.
If larger groups like Clear Channel and Infinity follow Cumulus's lead, I think R&R will reverse their stance. They could just start reporting adds based on Mediabase detections.

Whoohoo. Now Clear Channel is gonna have even MORE of a stranglehold on the popcharts.

I agree that adds should be based on new detections.

Whoohoo. Now Clear Channel is gonna have even MORE of a stranglehold on the popcharts. I hope Clear Channel follows suit... I H-A-T-E Clear Channel and especially how they have destroyed the Southern California markets... Pretty soon, we just might not have an R&R... Greedy station conglomerates... gotta love em. :(

The topic title is somewhat misleading because on All Access Cox said their decision to stop reporting adds was made before Cumulus announced their decision. Slinky, CBS Radio owns less CHR-Pop stations than Cumulus did. I think Clear Channel is the only company that could stop reporting adds without risk of being dropped. If Clear Channel stations were removed from the panel the CHR-Pop chart would be worthless and maybe not even worth making. On this board we discuss the Radio and Records charts but if we don't like them there's nothing stopping us from discussing the larger panels with the Cumulus stations (h1m for CHR-Pop for example) instead.

Cumulus is back on the panel, so maybe they won't dump Cox stations after all? Memo from R&R:

So bullets will temporarily increase a lot more now?

This reminds me of when Infinity (now known as CBS Radio) did something Arbitron didn't like and Arbitron announced that they wouldn't release the radio station ratings to the public in markets with Infinity stations which includes many or most big markets. Arbitron changed their mind the next day. So hopefully Cox's WBLI will remain on the panel.

So bullets will temporarily increase a lot more now? I'm hoping they'll just adjust for the past week so that bullets go back to normal immediately... but most likely they won't. In this case, bullets will go back to normal temporarily when the adjustment is made, then will be higher than normal beginning this Friday, then back to normal a week from when the adjustment is made.

Oh great, so now you have to post 4 times about the removal of Cumulus stations and then report 4 more times about their reinstatement?? LOL

Why don't we just get rid of any stations not owned by the ClearChannel empire and just get it over with?
CC seriously needs to be de-monopolized.

I know CBS doesn't own a lot of CHRs, but they do own a lot of Alternative stations, as well as some big market Country stations, ACs and Hot ACs. Can you imagine an Alternative chart without KROQ? Remember, the Cumulus stations weren't just dropped from the Pop panel, they were dropped from every panel.

Maybe people will figure it out right away this time. --- The chart is only back to normal for now because Cumulus stations were still on the panel one week ago today. But beginning tomorrow, this won't be the case, and bullets will be temporarily inflated. In other words... Fri., Jan. 27 through Wed., Feb. 1: Lower bulletsThu., Feb. 2: Normal bulletsFri., Feb. 3 through Wed., Feb. 8: Higher bulletsBeginning Thu., Feb. 9: Back to normal bullets--DanG
