'Check Yes Or No' has been among the top five 'power gold' cuts at country radio for the entire decade, and ranks second among all tunes by male vocalists, trailing only the perennial #1, 'Something Like That', so I don't know why any country station in America (regardless of market size) wouldn't spin it at least twice a day.
I also have to agree that 'Cowboys Like Us' ranks with 'Run' as two of the best #2 singles of this decade; 'Run' spent a month at #2 in early 2002 because Alan Jackson spent five weeks at #1 with 'Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning?).
I still think that 'River Of Love' will reach the top ten, and probably the top five.
Does anyone happen to know how long 'I Can Still Make Cheyenne' stayed at #1, as well as the year and month it reached the penthouse?
Thanks!!

I know it came up short on BB (#4 i think), which is a shame, because that is one of my absolute favorite Strait songs.

It held #1 for one week on R&R (11/15/96).

Bob Kingsley just mentioned on 'CT40' that this is George's eightieth top ten single.
Wow!

Taylor jumps up to #2? The chart will be on R&R tomorrow... No. Next week. I think tommorow is George Nr. 4 other 5.

It looks like "River Of Love" will officially be the number 1 song of the week in a couple days, and this thread has been around since October -- but it still has less posts than "You Belong With Me" -- Taylor's thread for her new single which was just started yesterday afternoon! Where are all the Strait fans????? :)

George Strait fans are just that: Fans. Not Fanatics.
There's a difference.

I'm completely baffled at the success of this song......it's horrid to me. It actually makes me angry at country radio. Guess I'm just weird!

Guess I am one that enjoys hearing George on the radio.
And going to #1 this week is fitting being he is ACM Artist of the Decade.

Some of the best songs in the history of country music are sung by King George.. but this song, well, it's sub-par to say the least.

I don't mind hearing George (although, I have to confess, he isn't one of my favorites), but I really do not like this. I think this is the weakest #1 in quite some time (assuming it does hold on, which I see no reason to doubt).

They make the charts based on #1 on Monday morning, not Friday or Saturday so it may still NOT be #1.

The Billboard/BDS Nielsen audience totals for the top 5 songs, for this week's Monday to Thursday period, were:
1. George 19.1 million audience impressions 2. Darius 18.6 3. Jake 18.3 4. Taylor 17.8 5. Rodney 17.6
So it should be an easy win for George come Monday morning, at least a mill over Jake (who will be up to #2 by that time).
From the negative comments here, sounds like we should be re-naming this song River Of Last Dollars. Or Watch the River Of Love Blow By.
For me, on my personal rankings of George's soon-to-be 44 Billboard #1 songs, I've got this one slotted in down at #36, in between #35 I Just Wanna Dance and #37 What's Going On In Your World. So it's definitely in the lower 20th percentile of George's #1s for me. But if he's going to be reaching 50 Billboard #1s before he's done, you're going to have a few mediocre ones make it mixed in with all the top-notch ones.
Besides, you can always consider this song hitting #1 as making up for an excellent song that missed in the past (Run, for me).

(I, for one, liked "Last Dollar", screechy kids' chorus aside.) How about "Please Remember the River" or "My Best River"? For me, on my personal rankings of George's soon-to-be 44 Billboard #1 songs, I've got this one slotted in down at #36, in between #35 I Just Wanna Dance and #37 What's Going On In Your World. Just curious, what're #1 and #44?

For me, on my personal rankings of George's soon-to-be 44 Billboard #1 songs, I've got this one slotted in down at #36, in between #35 I Just Wanna Dance and #37 What's Going On In Your World. Just curious, what're #1 and #44? The rest of the Pulse Country message board: "What, are you insane, Ten Pound??!! Don't ask Jonsolo that!! You just know he's going to take the invite as a reason to post his entire stupid freaking list!!!" Me: "Hmmm... Ten Pound probably secretly wants to know the entire list, and he's just too embarrassed to ask for it. I know. I'll go ahead and post #1 to #44, as I'm sure there's hundreds of other posters here that are just dying to know as well..." So be it. 1. Write This Down 2. Carrying Your Love With Me 3. Check Yes Or No 4. Blue Clear Sky 5. You Know Me Better Than That 6. Fool Hearted Memory 7. Love Without End, Amen 8. I've Come To Expect It From You 9. Ocean Front Property 10. Baby Blue 11. All My Exe's Live In Texas 12. Baby's Gotten Good At Goodbye 13. Nobody In His Right Mind Would've Left Her 14. I Cross My Heart 15. Easy Come, Easy Go 16. It Ain't Cool To Be Crazy About You 17. You Look So Good In Love 18. The Chair 19. Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind 20. The Best Day 21. Carried Away 22. Living And Living Well 23. She Let Herself Go 24. If You Ain't Lovin' (You Ain't Livin') 25. I Saw God Today 26. I Hate Everything 27. It Just Comes Natural 28. Round About Way 29. One Night At A Time 30. Let's Fall To Pieces Together 31. She'll Leave You With A Smile 32. Give It Away 33. If I Know Me 34. The Big One 35. I Just Want To Dance With You 36. What's Going On In Your World (here's where ROL will go, moving World and each ensuing song down one spot) 37. Ace In The Hole 38. Right Or Wrong 39. Heartland 40. A Fire I Can't Put Out 41. Famous Last Word Of A Fool 42. Am I Blue 43. You Can't Make A Heart Love Somebody Zazie already gives me constant grief for relegating Give It Away to the bottom quarter, so feel free to attack me for my idiotic choices as well! I do think there's a clear division in quality from #11 down to #12, and I doubt any #1 song that George has in the future will be able to crack that top eleven. I think there's also a gap in quality between #19 and #20, and again from #33 to #34. Enjoy! Anybody want to know my rankings of all the Billboard #1 songs by Chad Brock??!!
