From what I remember, this was a huge hit back in the 90s. A great song. I noticed on Amazon.com, she released a 2003 Lp, but it only an Import. Is she still big up there in Canada?

It's good. Kind of depressing.

It's good. Kind of depressing. It is a very good song and very depressing as well. I never liked the movie this was in "Bed Of Roses" I think. I remember LeAnn Rimes did a version of this song too. I actually like her version better I think. Anyways the original was a #1 hit on my chart

I really liked this song. She's had continued success in Canada since then as well, and many of her songs are good as well.

This song kinda annoyed me at the time, I thought it was overrated. I also remember it coming out at the same time as Alanis came out and I always think about Alanis when I think about Jann, probably with them both being Canadian and radio stations mentioned that? Not sure.
Anyway, now I really love the song, it's great. The lyrics are really good.

I heard this while I was in Lowe's today. Hadn't heard it in a while, but I really liked it when it was out and still do.

I love this song... finally was able to track down the single remix a few months back.
I remember it had a really strange, lengthy chart run on CHR/Pop. Finished just outside the top ten on the yearend chart despite peaking at #12.

This song holds the record for the most weeks in the Top 40 without hitting the Top 10.

I was never able to find the remix for the song. I liked it at first but by the time it made the R&R charts, I was sick of it and still am.
Jann has continued her success in Canada with 4 albums, I think, since 'Living Under June' (1994), one of them being a Greatest Hits called 'Greatest Hurts' and then she has two live albums.

Oh I remembered hearing this song all the time on CHFI years back. It was a great song. Well, now I don't listen to CHFI anymore....

I liked it and forgot all about it until this thread. Good song, perhaps a little overrated at the time, but I never hear it anymore.

This was the subject of an AT40 question letter 2 or 3 years ago. Then there was a follow-up letter because someone in Canada was upset that Casey called her a "one hit wonder," so he had to verify that she'd had multiple hits in Canada. :)

It peaked at #5 on the US Music Survey. Did Dick Clark play it on his show this past weekend? I remember thinking this song got sort of gypped on the AC chart. Now, like on the CHR chart, it had a lengthy run. Back then, the recurrent rule was 15/-3, meaning that songs were moved to recurrent after three consecutive weeks of decreased spins and below number fifteen. I later figured out that the song could be at or below number fifteen, but this song dropped to number fifteen, then moved back up one to fourteen and then moved up to number thirteen the week after. The next week, the song was gone. If my memory serves me correctly, no other song was moved to recurrent like that. This, however, was when they made multiple mistakes involving the recurrent rule (like moving a song to recurrent a week ahead of time, moving songs to recurrent even though one of their weeks below number fifteen was with increased spins, and so forth). When they re-adopted that rule in 2001, however, they made sure they did it right. I hear that the guy who was in charge of the AC chart in 1981 was a total screw-up. I wonder if the same guy was there in 1996.

Did Dick Clark play it on his show this past weekend? Yes, the substitute host Mark Wallengren gave it a spin.

I like it, but I prefer "Where No One Knows Me" from 2005.

I hope you people don't call HER a one-hit-wonder! That would be annoying. lol!
I got so sick of this song though so I'd place it among the bottom portion of her singles, but I can listen to it and like it now so it's all good!

Probably my fav. Jann Arden song... then would be Good Mother and so on. lol like 5 years ago I used to play this song all the time. I feel like listening to it now, lyrically it's great and her voice is so on point.

She's a little bit whiney but I suppose it's a decent song.

She's hilarious on twitter. She's known for her depressing and sad songs but her live shows are one of the best I've been to because she's so entertaining. Such a strange contrast.
She released her 11th or 12th (whatever) album this year as well. It was okay.

Love this song. I saw her live again on Friday, and of course she played this one. Such an interesting story how this song came to her (especially considering that she writes almost everything). Sheβs really funny and personable - highly recommend seeing her live if you ever get the chance.
