I was watching an old episode of Charmed (all the way from 1998) and this song was prominently featured in that episode. The chorus for this one was undeniably catchy. Not quite as good as the singles from the first album, in my opinion, but I still like it.

Great song, but unfortunately it followed a huge showing by "Hands" and so it suffered what we would now term "recurrentitis" or maybe the hard-to-diagnose "second single syndrome."
In any case, I liked the song, but Hands was 10X better. And you're right, this did not compare well to anything from her first album.

Subsequent singles are bombers (i.e. this, Break Me, and Stand). As for the song, I thought it was one of the stronger tracks off the mediocre "Spirit".

I heard somewhere that this song was #100 for the year of 1999, according to AT40, even though they only did a Top 40 of that year. I guess someone added up the spins of the songs that didn't make R&R's Top 99 of 1999 to figure out what song #100 would have been had Casey Kasem done a full year-end countdown in 1999.
As for my opinion of this song, it sounded less poppy than most of Jewel's songs. Sounded almost like classic rock to me. Maybe that's why it didn't do so well on the pop charts.

I really like this song. When the album came out, this was an immediate favorite.

This is one of my favorite Jewel songs. I actually think it was better than "Hands," personally.

This is one of my favorite Jewel songs. I actually think it was better than "Hands," personally. I think it is, too, basically, because I never really liked "Hands" very much. I'm not sure why; the music was nice, but the lyrics were sort of cheesy. My favorite Jewel song used to be "You Were Meant For Me", but not long ago, I heard it on the radio and was surprised at how my opinion of it had changed. For some reason, I just didn't like it anywhere near as much as I used to. The same thing happened with "The Sign" by Ace Of Base. Maybe the gross overplay of both of those songs just took awhile to sink in, or something like that. Sorry if I'm not making sense, but I just haven't had much sleep this week...

I can't believe I didn't reply in here.
I always loved this one, definately more than 'Hands' too. I'm not sure where I'd rank it among her other songs though since I love 'Foolish Games', 'Do You?', '2 Find U' and 'Til We Run Out Of Road' more.

This is one of my favorites from Jewel, along with "What's Simple Is True" and "You Were Meant For Me." There was another song I loved from her second album, I believe it was called "Jupiter."

Very underrated, should have been the first single of Spirit instead of Hands!

This is possibly my favorite Jewel song. "Standing Still" is it's only real competition. I actually think it should have been the first single from that album. I know "Hands" was huge but I think she would have gotten 2 equal hits if they were released in reverse order.
