Peaked at #6 Hot 100, #11 CHR/Pop
Sure Mariah's vocals were barely noticeable in the song, but this was still a fine Babyface song ;)

I think I'm just totally worn out on this. I used to like it, but I'm so tired of it now.

This was a good song; you hardly hear this type of R&B nowadays. Mariah Carey featured on this track, for real? I never knew.
One of Babyface's few vocal performances, though, right---I think he collaborated with LL Cool J once, forgot the name of the song though.
What a producer though; definitely one of the best.

Does Mr. Face also have a song called 'This Is For The Cool In You'?
What is his chart history? The only song I know from him besides this one is 'When Can I See You Again', a Top 10 hit from 1994 but I know he's had a lot of others. I like another one he did with Jon B. too from the Bad Boys Soundtrack.
FYI, Kenny G. is also on this track.

FYI, Kenny G. is also on this track. Yes, "For The Cool In You" was released in 1993. Here's his Hot 100 history: It's No Crime [#7] [#1 R&B] My Kinda Girl [#30] Tender Lover [#14] [#1 R&B] Whip Appeal [#6] Give U My Heart [#29] For The Cool In You [#81] And Our Feelings [#21] Never Keeping Secrets [#15] When Can I See You [#4] This Is For The Lover In You [#6] Every Time I Close My Eyes [#6] There She Goes [#31] What If [#80] "Love Saw It" with Karyn White hit #1 R&B in 1989, but didn't hit the Hot 100.

Did Mariah get label credit? I don't think she did. Rick never mentioned it and Casey only mentioned Mariah once.
I don't think Babyface was credited on "Take A Bow" either.

Mariah Carey featured on this track, for real? I never knew. Neither did I. I like this stuff, along with most of Babyface's singles.

Is this song in any way related to Mariah Carey's song "Close My Eyes" from Butterfly?

Did Mariah get label credit? No. But Babyface's label used Mariah's name to sell albums. There was a sticker in Europe saying it was a duet with Mariah.

"Everytime I Close My Eyes"
I LOVE this song. Classic mid-90s R&B ballad. This did well at Pop radio also. and AC radio.
Mariah, while only singing back-up, is still the highlight of this song.
The one thing that surprises me is how this song fell off the face of the earth.... haven't heard it on the radio since it was a current.

I still hear it on WRKS. It's alright. It's not really one of my favorite Babyface songs.

GREAT ballad! It reminds me of the winter. Mariah is so subtle in this song. I love this.

This is a very good song. But I agree that it is not his best. My favorite Babyface track is "How Come , How Long" with Stevie Wonder

I loved it until I played it about 50 times. Then it got kind of old.

This was a very soothing song. Very reassuring. I love to just close my eyes and sink into the song...
It hit #1 on my chart for 4 weeks and ended the year in the Top 10.

I love it, and I don't really like a lot of Babyface's solo material.

I totally forgot Mariah was in this. Great track, haven't heard it in ages though. Did you think Mariah's vocals were sung by Angela Via instead? Lots of people were confused about why they couldn't find any information on the unreleased Angela Via track titled "Whenever I Close My Eyes." They almost had the title right, at least! Even Angela was aware of the fan confusion. "I think I know what song they were talking about."
