Favorite quotes from song: "Joni Mitchell never lies!" "I HEARD... that you were on the beach..." This song & video was like WTF when it came out. She reminded me of Coolio in the video. Nonetheless, I bought the import snigle.

It's a really good song with a great video but this is not really a good way to come back. It just wasn't really something that really hit you. It would have been better as a third single or something.

I've never heard this...is this an "out there" sorta-sounding song like "Son of a Gun"? Very... it samples a line from Joni's "Big Yellow Taxi", to give you one example. I hated it at the time, but like it now.

I could never stand this song. Then last year I heard the Counting Crows' "Big Yellow Taxi", and then discovered just how much better this song is. And this is coming from a Counting Crows fan.

I like it. Back in the other topic about this song started a few months ago, I stated that the song peaked at #16 on my chart last year after I finally bought the Velvet Rope CD!

It was a fairly good song, but not among her best.

It would have been better as a third single or something. I totally agree with you. I think she should've released "Together Again" first. Or maybe even "I Get Lonely"

I really don't know why she chose this as a first single, it's forgettable and nothing new. "Together Again" should have been first!

It was OK. But wasn't it one of Janet's lowest-peaking songs?

I loved it!! I wasn't familiar with the sample at first... I thought it was indian sounding. I thought it was very catchy. It was never something I would've expected from Janet but from the first time I heard it on the radio I loved it and I was so excited to have a new album coming.
I think it was a good first single choice... I like Janet doing non-predictable things. "Together Again" would've been a predictable first single. From a business point it may have been better to have the surefire smash as a 2nd single anyway... to ensure the album has momentum. If TA went first everything else would've been downhill from there success wise.
I want Janet to do more songs like this and less like some of the fluff on AFY. A mixture would be fine.

How long had Joni been off the charts before she was credited on this song? I'm surprised it wasn't some kind of record.

I like this song too! The use of the Joni Mitchell sample was really creative.
Those remixes posted were great too!

I hunted down that import single back when it was released. The Mellow Mix is sooooo good. This was my freshman year of college and I remember a dj playing it at a basketball preview game. I had to have it!

The flop lead single from 'The Velvet Rope'. I know a lot of people hate this, but it's actually in my top ten Janet singles. Clever sample, I love Janet's vocals on it, and she looks beautiful in the video, very natural as opposed to the rather sanitized image she normally projects. Y'know, when she's not getting her boobs out.

I love it. Completely different than anything she'd ever done. I remember that it did take some time to grow on me though. Initially it just wasn't as immediate as you'd expect a Janet single to be. I think that's what threw radio off.
The video's awesome.

I dont know what Janet was thinking of...I mean she had to know it was going to flop I mean she only sung like 2 lines out of the whole song.
