It seems like there's a few songs on some sort of death-list, because they just inexplicably died in a big way -- not just peakage, more like an absolute spin rupture. It started a while ago with Single Ladies, and then I Hate This Part, I Will Be and Untouched joined it on the uber-descent. Looks like this is joining their ranks. You can add "Green Light" to that list as well, even though it barely made the Top 20. The reason these died inexplicably in spins can be attributed to the long line of songs that came out of nowhere, caught up, had huge bullets and easily skyrocketed into the Top 10. It seems like this all started in mid-January, a few weeks after songs were just recovering from the holiday chart freeze. That gave little time for the aforementioned songs to finally gain momentum only to lose it and they never recovered. The only exception here is "Single Ladies" since it reached #1 but once it was done, its rapid fall was countered by the strong momentum of several songs that were moving up the charts fast (thanks to very high bullets). Just look at all the songs that passed them (and still continuing): "Gives You Hell" "My Life Would Suck Without You" "Dead and Gone" "Right Round" All these four songs have since reached Top 10. "Poker Face" "Kiss Me Thru The Phone" Both these songs will easily make Top 10. Very soon, "Love Sex Magic" and perhaps "If U Seek Amy" Close to approaching the Top 25, might reach Top 20 in the next week or so. As for the latter, once "Circus" begins heading downward, its spins will switch more momentum to Britney's next single. I would also include "You Found Me" even though it didn't have as much of a high bullet as those songs. It only picked up after reaching the Top 20, but had enough of a stronger bullet than both "I Hate This Part" and "Untouched" which were essentially banned from making the Top 10.

I would also say that some radios have preferred other songs as recurrents. Look at Let It Rock, I'm Yours and Hot'N Cold, which have taken long time to fall and even now they have good number of spins.

That was another point I was going to bring up, but I had to stop short of making my post on this thread become as long as the typical analysis that would be included with a daily update for a song (a la "I Hate This Part"). LOL

I feel like this single was forgettable. What was the point of releasing it if they are going to act as if it never existed in the first place?

??? The label has acted well. It waited till the song lost its bullet to announce the next single. It has been already struggling for the last month, so now it's time to say goodbye. This may have been a better 4th than 3rd single... but I am not mad at the label for this decision. It showed versatiliy on her side, some kind of feeling when singing a ballad, and it was an interesting change... Of course, it also had one of the worst sung verses in Pop history, but for some that was also cute or different or edgy In any case, comparing with Leona for example, I can accept a semiflop if it shows versatility.... not like I Will Be.

It's kind of unfortunate this was wasted as the 3rd single. It would've been put to much better use as the 4th single and wouldn't have slowed down her momentum.

i'm surprised it even did this well. i don't care that it follwed two big hits...this song is truly awful and could very well be the wrost non-rhythmic song to hit the top 40 EVER.

It's not awful. You just need to get past the vocals. It's actually a great song, but yes, the vocals are terrible.

Just curious what u (and other people) didn't like about it...(just seems like a pretty average pop/rock ballad to me) - wonderin if it's her voice or the untypical chord progressions Explains why it peaked so low though IMO (for a KP single) if this many people "hate it"

I think her voice in it is polarizing. It took me a while to get past the vocals, but once I did I couldn't stop listening to it.

She's still pushing this song WW. Has she ever performed it with the live band? Every single performance I've seen so far has only been an acoustic version. I wanna hear the full blown thing already.

I think she will have a problem moving forward now with songs that are non in the same realm as "I Kissed A Girl" and "Hot N Cold". Even though I think this song sounds atrocious I was pretty confident it would have done well enough and she would become another Pink, Kelly Clarkson, or Gwen Stefani who can get hits with uptempos, novelty songs, and ballads. I think they were trying to prove she can do different types of song with "Thinking of You" and it didn't work. She may have another shot to prove her versatility but she already lost this round.

www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,25215251-5009160,00.html KATY Perry channels her best Vegas showgirl in her latest video clip. For the upcoming single Waking Up In Vegas, the American pop star teamed with director Joseph Kahn, who has worked with everyone from U2 to Gwen Stefani.

I would have loved to have seen this bigger because ballads like this just don't seem to exist anymore except for AC and we need some good ballads! On the other hand, at least this song won't be overexposed and overplayed. lol I give the label props for taking a chance with this. It's a well-written song.

It's not awful. You just need to get past the vocals. It's actually a great song, but yes, the vocals are terrible. That's like...how Katy Perry sings, probably her most genuine song. People kept bitching about her singing ..uhm to put it in nice terms 'way different from the record' on her live preformances so they finally release a song that keeps her voice pretty pure and it bombs, go figure. I still like this song, it's beautiful. I agree with the polarizing vocals comment, very dead on. I definately do not listen to a Katy Perry song for vocals, I listen to her lyrics. She's a good song writer IMO.

Not surprising that this song didn't do well. Like everyone else said, Katy's voice on this is absolutely terrible, and I thought the song was boring. Her previous two singles were miles better.
