I'm not as surprised as I should be, but apparently this is single #7, going for adds on January 12th. I do like the song, but I can't believe that they are going with seven singles, and not releasing "Between The River And Me" or, for that matter, "Train #10".
I can see why they would release another single, as "Let It Go" was the second biggest hit from the album, but this is not the one I would have picked. It's not bad though, and much better than "Suspicions", "Kristofferson" and "Last Dollar". I guess this means we won't see a new Tim album until the Fall.
Chart run so far: 57-49-35-31-24-20-16-13-11-11-10-10-9-7-7-8-6-5-10

^Times about 4,029,481,010,394,285. Those are the only two single-worthy songs left on the album, IMO.
This song does nothing for me. It's not terrible, but it's forgettable and kind of boring at best.

That's pretty much my thoughts as well. It's a decent song, but forgettable and fairly contrived (the blatant god, family, and country reference). I posted my thoughts on Curb in the Singles thread. It's a real shame that it has come to downright pettiness between Tim and Curb.

Really, what gives? I'm thinking if two artists as diverse (as diverse as two singers in the "same" genre can be) as Hank III and Tim have had such vehement disagreements with Curb, it must be the label and not the artists. Decent song, but I'm ready to hear some new Tim.

Curb needs to be ran out of town.

This is unquestionably the most ineptly promoted CD by the marketing department of a format mega-superstar in the past fifteen years.
I don't know of any other format superstar who's whiffed on more than one single from any of his/her/their CDs of the past twenty years.
Tim admitted in a wonderful August 2004 R&R tribute marking a decade in the industry that he is a stubborn person; his misfortune is that there are similarly stubborn people overseeing his career at Curb Records, and their ineptitude continues to grow exponentially, and that certainly includes his 'GH Reflected' CD.

the album should never have been released, not to mention getting 7 singles. What a horrible mess.

How much does he have left on his contract with Curb?
I give it six months max before they release a CD with the best unreleased Tim McGraw tracks.
"Seventeen" "The Trouble With Never" "Senorita Margarita" "She'll Have You Back" "Telluride" "You Get Used To Somebody" "Things Change"
etc....... "Blank Sheet of Paper"

How much does he have left on his contract with Curb? One more studio album. From which they'll release 15 singles. And then issue everything from Let It Go and his next album as Greatest Hits 3.1416. And then they'll find a loophole to keep him on the label until he's 80.

Ironically, the number one single in America exactly four years ago was Tim's 'Back When'.
The last four years of botched choices for singles since that wonderful song reached the penthouse still boggles my mind; most of the choices for singles between 'It's Your Love' and 'Back When' were pretty solid, as opposed to the more recent choices.
This will undoubtedly be a top ten single, but wouldn't rank in the top half of the best songs on what is nevertheless a very strong CD, IMHO.

At this point they need to just come to a settlement and go their separate ways ASAP. Tim's a very wealthy man, so surely he could make it worth Curb's while to release him. I doubt Tim would want to do that, but it'd be worth it to get out from underneath the wrath of Curb.

Perfectly stated, and spot-on as usual.

Is he free the day they release that final album? Or does he have to wait for them to finish whoring it out for every penny possible?

Perfectly stated, and spot-on as usual. But not always that easily done. I don't think it's as simple as just writing a check. Shania fans often gripe about Mercury's promotion of her, and they ask 'why doesn't she just buy out?' I have a feeling that there's something in the contract (or bylaws) or some other overlying reason as to why some of these big name artists, and not just in country, stay at labels that aren't necessarily working for the artist's best interest.

^ I don't think Shania's situation ever got as bad as this though. I'm sure leaving would cost a pretty penny (not to mention the cost of legal fees), but the "cost" of staying seems pretty high right now as well. You could be right though, there may be literature in the contract that could cause a stumbling block.

what the hell!? i want new songs! UGH! i hate Curb. at least they didnt release "Shotgun Rider", "I'm Workin'", or "Comin' Home". i hate all of those. but i seriously can't believe they are releasing another single. i thought this era was over 4 singles ago, but yet, its still going.
i actually bet they will release more singles off this album.
08. Between The River And Me 09. Whiskey And You 10. Train #10 (to be ironic)
and then maybe they will end. or maybe they will try to out-do Shania and release...
11. Put Your Lovin' On Me 12. I'm Workin' 13. Comin' Home 14. Shotgun Rider
why not just release the whole album? they are half way there already.

Is Curb expecting this single to increase album sales? I mean, isn't that the point of singles on the radio? Pretty much a commercial for the album? I think the general country radio listeners have heard enough commercials from this album. People either have it or their not interested.
It seems that Curb is just wasting time.

I would love to be inside Curb's head right now. I would really like to know the thought process behind releasing all these singles and delaying the new CD forever.

The fact that Tim missesd the top ten with back-to-back singles for the first time since he became a format megastar in 1995 is unbelievable; this could only happen at Curb Records.
I was hoping he'd mount a serious challenge to prevent Kenny Chesney from being the format's #1 overall artist again in 2009, which would make three times in the past four years; McGraw was #1 in 2007.
Now it's up to Toby, Brad & Alan to derail Mr. Chesney.

I had to re-listen to the album to even remember this one. It's an OK song and will do OK at radio, but if they were doing anything other than delaying his next release, "Between the River and Me" was the obvious choice.
"Whiskey and You" and "Train #10" would both go Top 5 as well.

I don't know what's going on behind the scenes in regards to release of the next album. I do know that they're probably not expecting Let It Go album sales to reignite from this single. The only money they'll make is from spins and they're probably assuming drinking and driving may touch a nerve during this holiday season.

That 1,260 collapse in spins for 'Let It Go' for the week ending this past Saturday, as detailed in last night's edition of Country Aircheck, is the biggest single-week plunge in spins I can recall in many years as a R&R/Mediabase/Country Aircheck chartaholic.
The previous record-holder (if you want to acknowledge that!!) would be Toby Keith, whose 'High Maintenance Woman' plunged 1,176 spins in a single week.
2008 was a really mediocre year for these two format stalwarts (chart-wise) after a stellar 2007 for both of them.
Whomever coined the phrase' The bigger they are, they harder they fall' was definitely not kidding!!

Toby had a pretty decent year. with "She Never Cried In Front Of Me" anyways. and "God Love Her" is going to be a hit.

I went back and listened a couple times. While I still think it wasn't the best choice for a 47th single, and it is kind of forgettable, it's not as bad as I original made it out to be.
I think this'll peak around #4 or 5.... and do nothing for album sales.

I think this ties Suspicions as my least favorite single from this era. I would much rather see Train #10, Between The River and Me, or Put Your Lovin On Me as a single instead.

I'm surprised at how well this has taken off in the last couple of weeks, considering that we're in the midst of the Christmas season. This may actually end up doing quite well if these early signs are any indication.
