Anyone been noticing this year that more than one song by an artist has been on the chart a lot, and many times BOTH songs have bullets?
For the 12/19 chart, there will be 6 artists (T.I., Britney Spears, Pink, Beyonce, kayne West, and Rihanna) with 2 songs each (not counting featured spots) in the top 40 of the pop chart, resulting in 30% of the pop chart positions being dominated by 6 artists.
Does anyone know the record for a chart week of the most number of artists occupying the pop chart with multiple songs in the top 40?

I'm sure it has been more than that back when I closely followed the charts in the 90s but I'm not really positive. I'd have to check my old AT40/CT40 papers.

Yeah I was thinking this exact same thing when I looked at the charts a while ago. I have no idea if it's a record or not but it seems like it should be one.

Yea. Lately it doesn't seem like having two singles out at one time is affecting the performance or bullets of either of the songs. Heartless and Love Lockdown both have positive bullets, same with Single Ladies and IIWAB, Womanizer and Circus, and Whatever You Like, Live Your Life and Dead And Gone. It wasn't like that in the past.
I would say its because the amount of product shifted to Top 40 has decreased and popular artists are now given more attention regardless if the record is exceptional or not. PDs are taking less chances with their playlists and spinning the most dominant artists right out the gate. Even though The Veronicas, Lady Gaga, and Jason Mraz's singles eventually did well when many thought they all officially flopped, it was months late because of the dominance of popular artists with relatively crappy songs on the charts.
Z100's playlist changes over the last two years or so definitely initiated this trend, and the rest of Mainstream has followed.

I couldn't fine any with that many. The closest I found was the November 6, 1998 chart with 4. They were Goo Goo Dolls (Iris/Slide), Matchbox 20 (Real World/Back 2 Good) 'N Sync (/Tearin Up My Heart/GMSALMTOY) & Will Smith (JTTOU/Miami)
