wow nice info... his voice dont seem he is in black community. None of my white friends (well, those that don't listen to R&B/Hip-Hop Music) know of his existance so... lol. His debut videos were spun very heavily on BET back in the day. You know, back when the music video channels actually played videos.

I still don't think its Sammie nor Soulja Boy. Its the guy who knocked out this insanely addictive beat, Jim Jonsin.

T-Pain was removed on the radio version. It's disappointing to see that T-Pain is getting more respect on "Low". Maybe everybody was watching TRL and not listening to the radio at the time.

After looking him up, he really only had one hit on the R&B charts, "I Like It". All his others before this were just minor hits there, so I don't think there are too many people that are familiar with him, regardless of ethnicity or what stations you listen to.

I guess T-Pain was hot at the moment. If he's featured on a song, the public will wear it out. I believe 95.5 was the only station here that played the version with T-Pain. When I heard the other version I thought WTF??

I mostly heard the T-Pain version. That's because you don't live in Los Angeles and listen to big big radio stations like KIIS-FM, KGGI or Power 106. "Flo Rida" is a big big name to me because I hardly listened to T-Pain version.

Sammie is unknow, So he shouldn't be credit as "Soulja Boy's second hit helper". Jim Jonsin gave Lil Wayne "The Best Rapper Alive" and "Go buy my album this week!" image because of Lollipop.

I don't agree with that. While I try not to touch on the race topic because people tend to get very "nit piccky" & "sensitive" over it, I will say that being an african-american and hanging in mostly black circles, we tend to listen to hip-hop/r&b stations and watch BET. lol. Now at the time when Sammie first hit the scene (and btw, "I Like It" was his first single when he was 11 or 12. Everything else came after that) his video was spun heavily on BET and most of the black kids/t(w)eens knew who he was. He faded into the background for 6 years and came back. And by word of mouth you heard Sammie was back, but... lol. His first single wasn't that great and I don't think he was promoted properly. So I'm pretty happy to hear that this is doing well. Even if Soulja Boy's album continues to tank, this single doing well puts Sammie's name back out there. And people outside the Urban community will take notice and launch him into superstardom! LoL ok wishful thinking, but it could happen! EDIT: To The Above Poster, I Wouldn't Call Sammie An "Unknown". To his target "Urban" community, any of us who were around the teen'ish age group in the early 2000's know who Sammie is. Anyone listening to this song on hip-hop stations know of Sammie. Now pop radio listener's won't know him, but I'm pretty confident in the statement that Urban listeners are aware of who Sammie is.

I'm just surprised this is the single that giving him the mainstream appeal. And yes, Jim Jonsin should receive lead artist credit. He also helped T.I. majorly with "Whatever You Like", and also jump started Pitbull's career with "Dammit Man" back in 04. That was the hottest beat of them all.

I'm Italian, Mexican and only watch BET for Hip Hop music videos, That's the only reason why I know Sammie. I'm just completely offended by why the two people on page three who said "Sammie" and "T-Pain" made both songs a hit but when it's really the background music and production.

Well, you could quote that for most of hip-hop (Timbaland comes to mind), but most of the time the lead artist does fit the song really well. When you have the lead artist saying virtually nothing meaningful over a super hot beat, that's when you start to question how much digging the label did to make sure the one-hit wonder moniker is knocked off their artist. The chorus is the most memorable part of the song, so of course many will come to the conclusion that the singer is doing all the work for a successful rap/R&B single.

I guess I did make it more of a "race" issue than it really is. What I mainly meant was that people in the Urban community who listen to Urban music and watch BET are pretty aware of who Sammie is. If urban music isn't one of your main focuses when it comes to music and the video channels you watch, I guess it's true that he was probably overlooked. I just don't think it's proper to call him an "unknown". It really just depends on who you ask is all I'm saying. But I also feel where you're coming from.

Honestly, Sammie blends too much in the crowd like Keri Hilson and Dr Dre. So, This is considered Soulja Boy's hit. We won't be seeing Sammie making Pop aka popular hits in the future. Period.

Hmmm... there was so much wrong with that statement that I honestly don't think I can take your opinions very serious anymore lol. I was giving you the benefit of the doubt with Keri. Because while I do love her as an artist and everything, I just can't quite figure out why she isn't smashing up the charts yet. She's different and unique imo, but her delivery of the material I think is what keeps her from catching on. But Dr. Dre!? Do you know who Dr. Dre is!? He's an older guy now, and I'm sure doing other things in his mature age than writing "gangster rap" lyrics. But Dr. Dre never blended in with the crowd! Dude is an amazing rapper & producer! Everyone who's not in the limelight isn't gone by circumstance, some aren't making albums constantly by choice! Go back to the NWA days, the 90's and turn on the classic hits Chronic & 2001. Dr. Dre is heavily respected in the hip-hop community. That statement was just... wow. As far as your opinion of Sammie, to each his own I guess. If he so chooses, he'll be back and I'm sure he'll be coming hard next time so I'm not even worried about it. And to keep this post on topic, (lol) how is this doing in sales? And has his album begun to sell at all? I don't recall seeing any promotion for it when it was released, nor do I see any now... lol

Sammie will probably have another hit. But he has to strike the iron while its hot and work with the right people. As usual.

I don't think it's really fair to call this a Soulja Boy hit. Everyone knows that it is Sammie that makes it. ^Yeah that might explain it...kinda like IMO T-Pain completely carried "Low" for Flo Rida I mostly heard the T-Pain version. Flo Rida himself made Low a smash. This is for all the people who said T-Pain made "Low" big.... Listen the Flo Rida singing version that always got played on the radio: www.pp2g.tv/vZn96ZXI_.aspxSammie did not make the song.A lot of people who don't watch BET don't know who the hell he is. Kiss Me Thru The Phone Chart.#22 on the Mainstream Top 40 #3 on the iTunes Top 100 #10 on the Rhapsody Top 100 There is a possibility it can pass #9 this thursday on the Billboard Hot 100.

Sammie did not make the song.A lot of people who don't watch BET don't know who the hell he is. Its not about people not knowing who he is! Sammie's chorus makes the song catchy to people even with him being a nobody! Yea...

Ashanti wasn't known before 'Always On Time' but her part made the song.

If Jim Jonsin did not produced the hot beat, then it would have had been anotha Soulja Boy flop. Sammie didn't make the song a smash cuz he blends in and nobody knows who he is. This was like the first fukkin time I hear him on KIIS-FM and Kiss Me Thru The Phone isn't even on his album. So how in the hell is he the "star" of the song? Take a look at The Game, 50 Cent was mainly singing How We Do and Hate It Or Love yet he managed to steal the spotlight. Kiss Me Thru The Phone is currently #21 on the Mainstream Top 40 today.

^ You've misinterpreted my use of the word "star". I think you mean the main selling point of the song (in this instance it's Soulja Boy as he's got the biggest reputation). Whereas I mean the best part of the song--the thing which is convincing people to buy this (I believe Sammie's chorus is this).

The beat + Sammie makes the song! If it was just a beat with no catchy chorus it would be flopping
