Yeah... I love the song and it deserves to be a single, but still I think it could work better as the third/fourth pop single... but I guess they want TA for summer and ITWYLD for fall... maybe?

Good choice, but not after "Gotta Be Somebody" underperformed at CHR/Pop. They needed to release "If Today Was Your Last Day". I would have released the singles in this order.
1. If Today Was Your Last Day 2. I'd Come For You 3. Gotta Be Somebody 4. Never Gonna Be Alone 5. This Afternoon

YES! Great choice. I know I'm in the minority but IMO this and NGA are better than ITWYLD. ITWYLD comes off as too boring for me. But anyway, this is a friendly rock ballad (and is in the same league as Photograph, FA, IEC)and I hope that it performs better than GBS.

Surprised they didn't go with ITWYLD. That has been in the Top 100 on iTunes for a while.

ITWYLD is a takes longer to get into, whereas this is instantly catchy.

I don't know yet, but I have a feeling this era's gonna flop hard.

That would be my perfect single chronology for the album: this next, TA in the summer, ITWYLD in the fall, and if they really wanted a 5th pop single, NGBA next winter. I'm pleasantly surprised at them going with this as the 2nd single, since I was fully expecting ITWYLD. I think this song will be the biggest hit off the album on CHR/HAC.

Eh, I won't call this era a flop. Sure, GBS didn't really scorch the charts but the album's performing the same way (actually even better) than ATTR and has already sold 1.2M.

And they were also up against the return of Brittany Spears and Beyonce. I think Nickelback will be much more long term in the charts.

Not to mention that they absolutely had no promotion whatsover for the album. They had ONE TV appearance (Leno) and that was it. And the video for GBS came out like 10 years later.

I think it has to do with wantin g to eventually send ITWYLD to all formats at once. Right now they have Something In Your Mouth on Rock and Alternative, so why not send this to pop, then when they both die out send ITWYLD to all

On first listen, this song is... pleasant, for me. It's really nice melodically and lyrically, but a little boring. I love Nickelback and I love this song, but I would have expected something stronger for 2nd single. IMO, 'Gotta Be Somebody' and 'Far Away' were better.

This is such a good choice and should've been the first single! Today Was Your Last Day has to follow, both are future pop smashes.

i'm surprised too that ITWYLD won't be their 2nd CHR/POP single but i'd come for you was the right next choice so maybe this will give to the album some extra longevity...i hope this one will restore the underperformed Gotta be somebody for me that song is just like what far away was in ATRR so i believe it will peak very high

I don't know yet, but I have a feeling this era's gonna flop hard. That's what I remember thinkin at first, but the CDs sellin so well (or at least it was at first...haven't checked in a while), that I def. think it can carry a whole bunch of hits (even if they are more pop than previous CDs) - also GBS's def. surprisin me with its longevity on HAC and CHRs that lean that way IMO If Today Was Your Last Day's a great song, but it burned really quickly for me...still thinkin Never Gonna Be Alone's gonna be really big also esp. on Hot AC Wouldn't be surprised though if this CD "flops" them on Alternative/Active Rock

well remember that Something In Your Mouth is still carrying them up there heavy on Active Rock, doing really well, if that can go #1 it'll save their rock cred for at least 1 more album

I like this more than "If Today Was Your Last Day" (actually, that might only be ahead of "Far Away" on my Nickelback-single report card if it was released). If I had to compare it to an All the Right Reasons single, it'd be "Savin' Me". (But it does have a nearly identical lyrical buildup to the chorus as "Someday" and "How You Remind Me" with the "by now you know that..." line. Hey, I smell another PeopleBase top 5 hit. )

Release Burn It To the Ground, Just To Get High, S.E.X. and/or Shakin Hands after SIYM and they could have a whole slew of #1's on Active from this album, imo. Seriously, half of the Dark Horse album just screams Active smash after smash.

interesting title. you can always count on nickleback to have one distinct sound. they never fail on delivering that one sound and people just love it time and time again.

Maybe it's because this album is horrible (apart from GBS and ITDWYLD) compared to their previous effort, imo.

This album has 4 or 5 major Hot AC hits waiting to be released and a number of Active Rock smashes as well. I'm a bit surprised "Gotta Be Somebody" didn't even make the Top 10 at CHR/Pop, but they have three other songs on this album that I believe have even more pop potential than that one. This album may not sell as well as their last album in the long run, but anyone with those expectations is being unrealistic. That's one of the best selling albums of the past half decade.
