Yeah, good stuff. If they can find a way to trim this a bit, it has a shot at #1 IMO. Yeahhhh, what what? :) 2 1 LINKIN PARK New Divide 1955 1865 90 3 2 SILVERSUN PICKUPS Panic Switch Dangerbird 1929 1786 143

2 1 LINKIN PARK New Divide 2041 1875 166 9.953 3 2 SILVERSUN PICKUPS Panic Switch 2040 1786 254 10.272
1 spin. This should be interesting to follow throughout the week. I'm rooting for both songs to spend a decent amount of time at #1, so hopefully they can trade back and forth for a little while.

Could this SERIOUSLY get denied after being only 1 spin away two days ago? The margin is back up to 43 now.

It reached #1 on the Hot Alternative Tracks chart though (formerly known as Modern Rock)

Hey, that's something. :) The first Hot Alternative Tracks #1. Artie would say I nailed the prediction!

Billboard's website updates the charts every Thursday around noonish. Maybe it'll show up as one of the charts tomorrow with "Panic Switch" at #1.

Well it still says Modern Rock on the site, but sure enough, "Panic Switch" is #1. While I know this site considers Mediabase its official source, anyone who predicted "Panic Switch" getting to #1 I feel is right.
As for those folks who wanted to see this single dropped a month ago in favor of "There's No Secrets This Year," well...I still don't think this song is done. Plus if this song can be huge, that'll only make TNSTY bigger when it does come out.

That's awesome! More good news!
Wasnt' expecting it to hit #1 on Billboard Modern Rock Alternative Tracks but I'm glad it did. They also scored their first Hot 100 charting song with "Panic Switch". It charted during one week at #92.
This song has grown on me so much. Oh, and Swoon is one of my 5 favorite albums of the year so far. :)
I want "There's No Secrets This Year" next! That one is already my favorite Silversun Pickups song.

Am I the only one who wants "It's Nice To Know You Work Alone" for the second single?

I want "Surrounded" second, followed by "Nice to Know", although it'd be hard to go wrong on this record.

I want "There's No Secrets This Year" first and then "It's Nice To Know You Work Alone" second. Both are awesome songs that I think would make great singles.

I haven't heard anything in its entirety other than "Panic Switch," but based on the iTunes 30 second clips, my favorite song was "Growing Old Is Getting Old." Then again, I should probably hear the songs before really standing behind that pick.

I want "Sort Of" or "The Royal We" for the next single, but I'd be happy with anything, honestly.

Okay, I'm not that familiar with these guys, but literally EVERY time I hear a killer song and I ask who it is the answer is "Silversun Pickups". I take it is high time I break down and actually get something by them.

And now it's 290. :'( I saw Linkin Park had run away with #1 when I got back home in the middle of the week. I was like, "Wait. Wasn't 'Panic Switch' a lock for #1?? How in the f**k did that happen?!" Here's my album ranker for Swoon: 01. Panic Switch 02. Growing Old Is Getting Old 03. It's Nice to Know You Wear Cologne Work Alone 04. There's No Secrets This Year 05. Sort Of 06. The Royal We 07. Surrounded (Or Spiraling) 08. Substitution 09. Catch and Release 10. Draining 4/5

I got to listen to the album once this week - good stuff, nothing quite as amazing as Panic Switch but solid all the way through. I'll have to give it another listen or two to pick out my favorites, but I'm thinking "The Royal We" and "It's Nice to Know You Work Alone" will probably be up there.

03. It's Nice to Know You Wear Cologne Work Alone Ha, I like to say it like that sometimes. I quite like the album. "Growing Old Is Getting Old" is my favorite, but the first half is pretty swell. Matt's first sentence reflects my impression of the album. I like "Sort Of" but think that's too vague a title for a single.

Every time someone here mentions "Growing Old is Getting Old" (though I've never heard that song), I instantly get Jason Michael Carroll's "Growing Up is Getting Old" stuck in my head.

Panic Switch 2. There's No Secrets This Year 3. The Royal We 4. Growing Old Is Getting Old (all very close) 5. It's Nice to Know You Work Alone 6. Surrounded (or Spiraling) 7. Sort Of 8. Draining 9. Catch and Release 10. Substitution

Well, they're commonly compared to Smashing Pumpkins and it's not like this song doesn't have a bunch of distortion. "Well Thought Out Twinkles" would probably be the better choice, though. "Panic Switch" should be played on any format it can be on since it is that good.
