fail. Epic fail. Guess Fray will only have one hit this era. By the time this flops and they release Syndicate it will be too late. Hopefully the third album will do better.

eh, I wish they had picked something else. I agree that Syndicate would have been the best next choice.

As I've said, this is the only hit after YFM on the album, imo. I also think this will be bigger than YFM, just like HTSAL was to OMH.

I think that this song is a little too slow for pop radio. It'll do well on HAC and AC, but I don't see it going very far.
I like this song, but there are stronger single choices, such as Absolute, Syndicate, and We Build Then We Break.

Absolute I could maybe see as a single, but I don't get how people think Syndicate or We Build Then We Break would be a hit.

Absolute I could maybe see as a single, but I don't get how people think Syndicate or We Build Then We Break would be a hit. I think Syndicate is more catchy than Absolute, but Absolute is stronger than Syndicate lyrically. I think that We Build Then We Break should/could be released to show the casual listeners that The Fray can do more than just piano ballads.

My pick was 'Where the story ends'. 'Syndicate' was the obvious choice IMO. I love 'Never say never', I don't know if it will do well but I'm hoping so.

The fact there appears to be no common perception of what would make a stronger second single suggests this will likely be a short-lived sophomore era for them.
I would say though that, considering the strong downloads "Absolute" received upon the album's release, that it likely has the most appeal of the remaining tracks for mainstream.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

One of the only song on the album that can do well on pop after YFM.

I hate this bland and generic US rock band. It's funny how UK rock is so much better than US rock nowadays.

^Apologize by the Fray...just can't imagine it (or even Stop And Stare)
IMO One Republic is pop (with a rock beat in the background)...Tedder even wrote Bleeding Love (just not imagining dude from the Fray writin that one either)
Both have a piano, but IMO that's about it

Listen to the rest of the onerepublic cd. Apologize is the only rocking song. They are both extremely mellow chill bands most of the time. Onerepublic's "Come Home" for instance sounds precisely like a Fray song. Sure "Apologize" is a little different--but it did go #1 for a reason.

I love The Fray and One Republic. I'm a sucker for the piano styled rock stuff.

Not to mention Vertical Horizon, Lifehouse, etc. They're all similar. Not saying they're the same but looking at the entire spectrum of music, they are fairly interchangeable.

There is only so much crossover rock you can make. Its gotta be slow and melodious for crossover appeal. Therefore, it all sounds the same. The industry has hundreds of these cookie cutter bands lined up on deck for crossover hits (currently, we have Shinedown and Saving Abel). Look how many we have rolled through in the past 15 years, never to be heard from again once they 'sold out'. That's half the reason US Rock is dead (and the main reason the Alternative format in this country is dead).

Yeah sorry to disagree but IMO Vertical Horizon and The Fray are about as similar as U2 and Coldplay (or Pink and Katy Perry)...not sure what all this is about American rock bands soundin the same Vertical Horizon (and Lifehouse) are both Christian-based rock bands...the Fray almost seems the opposite to me (based on their lyrics) And still def. not gettin this One Republic connection (except I think the two guys look similar, and both play the piano) - The Fray is/was played on Alternative and Triple A and can't see those formats touching One Republic (i. e. too pop, lyrics too simple, etc.)

Both are from Colorado. Both are led by bland generic white guys. Both are mainly pop bands but get limited airplay on other formats--I've heard both on the alternative station out here in Colorado. Both are stereotypical piano rock. Need I say more?
Also, Fray are Christian as well.

I've never ever heard that, and i'm pretty sure it isn't true.

The Fray isn't exactly a Christian band, but members in the band are Christians, their second album was released in Christian bookstores, and "You Found Me" is being played on Christian radio.

What i mean is the band isn't characterized as a "Christian band" like say, Skillet, Switchfoot, or Thousand Foot Krutch. By the way, I thought of another band that is kinda similar to The Fray. Five For Fighting. At least most of their soft songs, The Fray actually gets a little heavier than Five For Fighting does, and goes away from the piano into guitar a little bit, but when you think about it, they are kinda similar. Also, The Fray is nothing like OneRepublic in my opinion. The Fray would never collaborate with Timbaland. Ha.
