In the USA, singles like "Love Profusion" and "Miles Away" didn't even go for official play (not that it would have mattered, mind you). Could you imagine if it were a GHV3? Die Another Day American Life Hollywood Nothing Fails Love Profusion Hung Up Sorry Get Together Jump 4 Minutes Give it 2 Me Miles Away New Track New Track New Track That would be some weak-arse collection. May as well license "Me Against the Music" and tcak on the dance releases "Nobody Knows Me" and "Mother and Father" while at it. I don't know if I agree. I think she's always released good singles, and they were international hits, so this kind of compilation makes sense to me, if promoted with the aid of a hit. It also wouldn't eat into Immaculate's catalog sales, I guess.

It wouldn't even make sense to release a compilation like that, both TIC and GHV2 had four studio albums to cover and they didn't even include every single.
On the other hand, I can't really see the public buying "Holiday", "Like A Virgin" or "Vogue" again after TIC. At least 13 tracks will come from TIC and probably 7-8 from GHV2. Throw in 2 new songs and there's just enough room to include 2 tracks from each of her last 3 albums and the ignored hits like "Dress You Up", "Who's That Girl", "You Must Love Me" & "American Pie"...

I wonder if they're going to include the edits on TIC, or album versions. Either way, I think they should offer different version of this. A two disk with basically the songs Black Moses posted, and a deluxe 3 disk that encompasses everything. If by "encompassing everything" you mean including every M song that was released as a single in at least one country, they still might have problems fitting them all on to 3 discs, as that would be over 70 tracks. To maximize sales this should be a career spanning 2-CD set that focuses on her most recognizable global songs. And yes, that would mean including songs like ITG. It technically wasn't an actual single in the US, but it still got big airplay here and everyone knows it.

The only Madonna albums I don't like are American Life and Hard Candy. Most of her albums are very solid.

I don't dislike any of her albums.
On another note. A GHV3 type thing wouldn't be that bad, or maybe they could include a rarities disc like No Doubt did back in 04.

She hasn't releases a solid album in over a decade imo. AL was trash to me and on the other 3 I can easily find at least one track that wrecks the whole experience for me (Get Together, She's Not Me, Nobody's Pefect). The stuff from 1989-1998 however, was pure gold.

Even Ray Of Light has stuff like "Shanti" or "Little Star"...

Imo of course, Shanti triumphs pretty much all of AL & the only thing close to a downside to the Erotica album is the album version of In This Life (it tries to detach itself from the icy tone of the rest of the album and doesn't succeed imo). The live version from The Girlie Show on the other hand is great. I'm not too fond of Little Star, but it fits in that album really well. A lot of COAD sounds like updates on old songs (not just HU) or eurotrash (like GT). The "all-dance" theme really kills its value as a single piece of work for me because it lacks what I always found to be a strong point of Madonna albums: variety.

^Fair enough. I think you do have a point about COADF not being varied enough and that many of the tracks are just updated versions of old dance stuff, but to me it still gives a lot more joy than Erotica, which I find overlong and too cold with kinda dated production. It does have some gems though. Guess I'm just more of a later-day Madge fan. ;)

I'm a Madonna fan as well, and find that the COMPLETE MIXED VERSION of COAD is a masterpiece from start to finish, if listened to in one sitting. (I also have COAD the unmixed version with the breaks in each song)
So excited for a tracklisting for this new Madonna era!

You forget that The Immaculate Collection is mainly those odd Q-Sound mixes that don't really match up with single or album versions. If she wanted to release a career-spinning collection that actually contained the hit versions of her older material, then that would technically not be re-buying the same tracks.

I just meant the two disk could be the biggest and most popular singles, and the third could include the other singles that are fan favorites/not as popular etc. I would love if there was some sort of box set that came with a disk of rare songs/b-sides/remixes, but I don't see that happening.

It's funny that her biggest hit in the US "Take a Bow", is one of her lowest charting singles in the U.K. (I am aware that it was released during the competitive Christmas season, though).

New Q & A posted at ICON with Guy Oseary...
1) Would you consider an Asian leg for Madonna's next tour? Madonna loves Asia and definitely would love to go back.
2) What are the plans, if any, for a Sticky & Sweet Tour DVD/CD Release? Will it include a tour documentary? We plan on having the DVD/CD come out in the fall, hopefully in November. Nathan Rissman shot hours and hours of b-roll. We will edit it down and definitely include highlights in the DVD.
3) Now that Madonna has decided to extend her "Sticky and Sweet" tour, is there any chance for her to release a 4th single off her 'Hard Candy' album? I don't see that happening.
4) Could you tell us more about the new Greatest Hits to be released by Warner Bros? Will it include unreleased tracks? Is there a release date available? We are trying to get two new tracks on the album. But not sure if they should be "never before heard" gems, or simply start from scratch. She is thinking about doing something dance and up tempo, so stay tuned....
5) Will this summer's show be the exact same as last year's? Will Madonna make some changes to the set list, costumes? Mostly it will be the same, with an added surprise song to the show. Again, stay tuned.
7) What is your best memory with Madonna? My best memory? Too many to mention. I've been with Madonna for over half my life. My favorite moments are when we are alone, taking a walk through the countryside together or having dinner together. I do have fond memories of when I first became friends with Madonna. I was such a kid who knew so little , yet she took my hand and showed me the world. It's been an amazing ride.
8.) Do you know what Madonna thinks of her fan club and all of her devoted fans there? She loves her fans. Honestly everything she does she considers her fans. I can give you an example from tour - When she did the L.A. Dodger Stadium show the whole front of the stage broke the night before the show. We almost cancelled. When I said "don't worry, everything will be fine no one will care", she responded "no my fans will care, they notice everything!" She doesn't want to do anything less than amazing for her fans. But at the same time, she didn't want to let down her fans by canceling the show, so at 9 pm the night before, she said the show must go on. All these decisions are always made with the fans in mind. She has seen many of Iconers showing up at each show and she really appreciates it - you know who you are!
9) Will Madonna release some unreleased songs or demos from her past albums at some point? At some point, would love to do something amazing with the remixes and demos. Thanks to you guys for many of your suggestions on this, they are all being considered.
10) Why wasn't Australia included in the tour itinerary and will she visit Australia anytime soon? Madonna really needs to go to Australia!! Its a must...and I'm going to do everything I can to make sure we get there next time Madonna tours. Unfortunately it didn't work out for this tour. She appreciates her Aussie fans coming to many of the shows. Israel never missed one show in Europe or South America and he waved his Australian flag at every single show. We are long over due for a trip down under and apologize for that, it will happen.

The comment was MORE OF A singles artists than an albums artist, which I agree with. Doesn't mean you can't be both. In this case, I would have to refer to the catalog chart to guage long term demand for Madonna albums as a basis for agreeing with this. 'Immaculate Collaction' is the only disc that makes an occasional appearance I know this is not the proper forum for this since there are no "casual" Madonna fans here but, I would tend to think, anyone with a casual familiarity with Madonna can name many of the songs she is famous for but would have a harder time naming the albums they come from.

I think most people have heard of Like A Virgin, True Blue, Like A Prayer and to a lesser extent Erotica, Ray Of Light, Music, COADF and Hard Candy
But then most people couldn't tell you that Take A Bow and Secret were from Bedtime Stories or even know that Die Another Day was tacked on the end of a stinker album with no hit singles (American Life was the name of that album for those wondering)

Bedtime stories... my favorite Madonna album... Secret and Take A Bow... masterpieces.
I would love to have a disc of demos, remixes, etc. I love what she did with Erotica on the Confessions Tour. And some new songs would be awesome.

According to MTV Italy, Madonna is supposedly filming a music video for "Incredible." www.mtv.it/news/news_page.asp?idnews=25953Other Madonna forums are reporting it too, but given what Guy Oseary had said about there being no more singles, there's probably little truth to it.
