It was on their music homepage for a while. Susan Boyle album sets pre-order record on AmazonLOS ANGELES (Reuters) – The upcoming debut album by British singing sensation Susan Boyle has become the largest global CD pre-order in the history of Amazon.com, the online retailer said on Thursday. Boyle's album "I Dreamed a Dream" will be released on November 24 by Sony Music Entertainment. It is the first album since the dowdy 48 year-old church volunteer from Scotland took the Internet by storm with her unlikely star turn on the TV show "Britain's Got Talent" in April. Amazon said that Boyle's album was not only the top CD pre-order in the United States, but also the biggest around the world in the 14-year history of it's web site. Amazon declined to give their pre-order figures but said "I Dreamed a Dream" surpassed the 2008 record held by "Supermarket Fantasy" from Japanese rock band Mr. Children, 2007's "Not Too Late" by U.S. singer Norah Jones, and British group Take That's "Never Forget: The Ultimate Collection" in 2008. "Susan's album is clearly capturing the hearts of our customers around the globe," said Craig Pape, senior manager of music at Amazon.com. Boyle ultimately lost the final of "Britain's Got Talent" to a dance team, and she was afterward briefly admitted to a private British clinic for exhaustion. However she was signed to a record deal by "Britain's Got Talent" and "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell and performed one track from the album -- a cover of The Rolling Stone's hit "Wild Horses" -- on "America's Got Talent" in September.

I love her voice. Her album is really good as well. "Wild Horses" is great!
Her America's Got Talent performance was incredible.

I don't know about 500K...300K is a safer bet. Either way, #1 in the bag.

I don't know about 500K...300K is a safer bet. Either way, #1 in the bag. Some estimations I read were saying that she already sold more than 200 k just in pre - orders !!! And I'm not talking just about Amazon, the album is huge also in places like QVC. So, all this sales will count as first week sales + people who will go buy the cd in stores..."I Dreamed A Dream" will be HUGE next week. Can't wait for HDD predictions.

She'd never had lost BGT if Americans were the ones voting. BTW, listen to this album, it's so so beautiful. "Proud" gives me goosebumps.

Those early HDD predictions are based just on pre-order numbers. Just on Wednesday we're gonna have the complete scenario with retail numbers. SuBo would probably be # 1 with just those pre-orders. If we add retail numbers, it's very realistic that she'll have an opening debut week in the 700 - 800 k range in the U.S . Wow. And 400 k is HUUUUUUGE for the UK market.

Yes it is. It is like selling 1.3Mill in the first week in the US.
WOW!
Robbie Williams didn't get those numbers in first weeks sales WORLDWIDE.

DREAM COMES TRUE: Susan Boyle’s Columbia album, I Dreamed a Dream, which hit the streets today, is already selling two to three times the estimated pre-release total for retailers, on top of breaking the all-time pre-order record at Amazon.com. Based on current tallies, the disc will easily top 500k and could go even higher. (11/23p)
