Wow. That was soooo embarassing. I don't know how to say this gently, but I didn't like it at all. The vocal, the cheesiness, the outfit... not a fan of any of that. He's done so much better. What happened? The Cookies are back You make it sound so bad. Later on I watched it with my family and all of us thought it was great and fun.

I knew he had to be sick. I've NEVER heard him sound like that. Sucks for the people who were hearing him for the first time, they probably wondered how the heck he made the final 2. I'm glad it's that, and not his voice changing. Well, I would think most people watching Idol watched last year too, lol...I can't imagine too many people are just now getting into it this late in it's run. It really wasn't that bad though. ??? It wasn't his best vocal, but it wasn't like OMGMGFM TERRIBLE, and he performed it really well. People here tend to overreact though, and the overall media response has been good, so whatever. I may of come off wrong. What I meant by that comment is that he sounded really bad for him. But him on his worst day is still better than 4 of the 5 contestants we have left this year on their best day. And I personally know 3 people who are new to Idol this year. I think every year it loses some old, and gains some new.

They should give him a break..he's been on tour since feb and it's gonna go on all the way till august..my voice would be completely gone by then.

I agree it sounds better in both recordings I've seen (one YouTube and one other format) with the band louder and David's voice sounding better. Most press I saw still looks pretty good with a couple (who sounded like fans) saying something like "though it was not his best performance" followed by compliments.

I didn't even notice that he was sick ???...In my opinion he sounded great, i wasn't expecting him to sing it perfectly like the studio version because David was moving around, dancing and jumping, maybe that's why some of you heard him a little different, but my friends, family and i loved Archie last night, and it seems like the press also loved his performance too and he looked so much more confident on the stage..I'm so proud of Archie.. I'm so proud of being his biggest fan!! love u Archie!!!

What press are we talking about exactly? ??? Cause all the press I've read (EW, MJ's Blog, etc) 100% agreed he sounded very underwhelming last night. They liked that he had more stage presence though, which I did too, but there's no way around the fact that he gave a worse vocal last night than any performance he ever did on the show last year, imo.

I'm talking about MSNBC, people, Usa Today, Newsday, The Seattle time... and about Ew, I don't pay attention to ew because that site never has supported david, they have always been mean with Archie without reasons, that's why i don't care what they say about David..Maybe they are jealous of David because he has proved them wrong many times. They never believed that David could be a marketable talent, they never believed that David could sell almost 700,000 records with a Pop Album, 1.7 with Crush, 165,000 with ALTNOY, so they can't handle his popularity and success, they never believed that Archie could sell out his concerts, But David has proved them wrong once again so they keep talking badly about Archie. >:( but anyway In my opinion David was amazing last night and i loved his performance!!!

EW and MJ are the biggest Cook supporters I know...should I be surprised? The other press said he sounded good. It wasn't his best but c'mon the dude's been sick for a week and has just gotten back from Asia..most ppl I know who watched it actually enjoyed the performance *shocker*

^Michael Slezak from EW has nothing against Archie, he thought he had a great voice last year, but just got a bit boring as the season went on (which he did). Just because someone prefers Cook doesn't mean they hate Archie.

Ugh, how is saying he sounded better on his worst day than most of the contestants this year on their best day bashing him? I even said it made perfect sense that he was sick, because I've never known him to sound like that. This is the perfect example why a lot of Archie fans have such a bad rep. Some of you guys jump on a person like we're committing some federal crime at the slightest hint of criticism.

And P.S., you won't find a bigger Archie fan then my mom, and she was the first one to say last night that she had never heard him sound that bad. I right away said he had to have been sick.

^Sorry then, it seemed like it was. I just get sick of not being able to have a criticism about him without getting stoned to death. I love Cook and Daughtry and Elliott probably more than anoy other AI alums, but I say negative things about them too sometimes. All of them have their faults.

If you read my post above, I said I agreed with you that he didn't give his best performance...no one's stoning you for your criticism. I'm just saying that I know a lot of ppl who really enjoyed the performance, so it definitely wasn't "so embarassing" as some ppl say ^.

I'm not trying to get attacked by the Archie fans, but I thought his performance last night was so poor. :( Definitely not going to help the song.

No it definitley wasn't embarrassing. I was just disappointed because I was looking forward to something like his AOL sessions where he nailed TMH, and instead we got him with a cold. :(

No one's gonna attack you..most of us on this board anyways agree with you. He was sick so he sounded really hoarse. Just too bad that the public got the nasely sinus version lol. He still looked really happy though so it made the performance more fun.

I'm talking about MSNBC, people, Usa Today, Newsday, The Seattle time... But actually, most of those places said nothing or very little about his voice. Newsday even said his voice was kind of flat, but still "enjoyable", and Seattle Times said he sounded like he could be suffering from a cold. So anyways, my whole point is that obviously I'm not alone in thinking it was one of his weaker performances vocally .

I just didn't like the performance. It was probably his worst performance of TMH. Ever. And it just happened to be the one seen by 20 million people. That frustrates me, because I was really rooting for him to prove those h8trs wrong, and show all the progress he's made. Instead, he sang a tweeny bopper song, and didn't even sing it that well. I thought the whole thing was quite silly, and really amatuerish. I know that sounds harsh, but that's my sincere opinion.

And he did prove a lot of ppl wrong..everyone said he improved his stage performance. I guess it's hard b/c of his age that his music automatically becomes tweenie bopper. Personally I think Kelly's new hits are tweenie bopper sounding but I guess I'm alone on that one..

But I've always complained about TMH sounding super young and cheesy. I just can't see how anyone over.... 15 could hear that and be like, "I wanna buy his album." As I said, the whole thing was amatuerish, and made me smh. I would be embarrased to sing a song like TMH and sound like that in front of 20 million people. I wanted him to have a "moment," but it was a total bust.

^Because, although I agree with you on the lyrics, the song is super catchy, and that's what the general public will gravitate to. People will like the song if it's catchy, regardless of the lyrics. If that weren't the case 90% of all rap hits would've flopped. It's also the same reason Miley Cyrus' See You Again went top 5 on CHR. Catchy song, so people overlooked the tweeny lyrics.

But anyway, all his music is moving up on itunes..Touch my hand has already made the top 100 on itunes overall , the deluxe cd, the AOL, ALTNOY, Crush and his videos are moving up too!! everything is moving up...That's great!!! ;) P.S: my friends and co workers loved David's performance too, they said " Aw the song is catchy, and David is still cute and looks taller and thinner." I'm so proud of David!!!
