If you can support this company at all, please do it:
I had a conversation with a top guy there (not Joel) who said that they are almost out of business after 40 years because of the internet (wikipedia, etc).
That's why they are publishing this book so soon after the last edition (2 years - unprecedentedly early) - to earn fast profits!

If I had the money to blow, I'd buy the four decade H100 chart DVDs and then throw in the one for the HRH, but alas, unemployment is not lucrative.

I spent a lot of money on there yesterday ordering the Hot 100 Eighties and Seventies books I can't wait to get them in the mail ^_^

I got mine today. Briefly looked in it. Disappointed. I happened to look up Beyonce, and there are no numbers for the Sasha Fierce era.
That pisses me off because it made its H100 debut in October 2008.........LAME!

^Are ya sure? The pre-orders touts every song that made the charts "From january 1955 through December, 2008." What does it say in the book?

I'm sorry. I made a mistake lol I meant it didn't include the later singles.
For example
The book that was released in 2007 it contained 1955-2006 and then likehalf the year of 2007
so i was expecting half of the 2009 year. i mean the book was due in august they could have included data through like april or something
They included a bunch of stuff about Michael dying and that was in June

D'oh- young Money, I sent an e-mail to RR asking if it covered all traks that made the chart through December 2008- and if it didn't, wasn't that misleading pre-order info (and info that appears on the site)? LOL I should have checked here first for your response.
Yeah, the cutoff usually is the end of a year, as that way, RR can get all of the weeks charted for those tracks (well, except for a real long-running track like "I'm Yours").

I called RR todday and the guy said that not all orders being shipped to P.O. boxes (which would be me) have gone out yet- but will within the next week.
YM, how does the book look/read? Satisifed? (other than it cutting off at theend of 2008 hehe)

(other than it cutting off at theend of 2008 hehe) It doesn't cut off the end of 2008. I was mistaken about that. All 2008 data is present. I just assumed that we would get partial 2009 data as a bonus as that is how it was in the last edition (partial data of the current year) otherwise, it is quite nice. i love the cover and seeing the bubbling under positions is pretty cool. my book came kind of damaged though. some weird creases on the pages but whatever

The last edition is the same as this one - it does cut off at the end of 2008
The artist listings list all singles that charted through the end of that year (in this case 2006 and 2008)
The chart statistics section runs all the way through the 8/22/09 chart
Jason Mraz 'I'm Your's' is listed at 69 weeks
The #1's list is current
The previous edition was laid out the exact same way. We did not get 2007 data in the artist section but long running singles that were charting at the end of 2006 were tracked up to publication in 2007

No singles debuting in 2009 are listed in this book
No singles debuting in 2007 are listed in the previous book
except in the statistics section (like #1 hits)

Some of the movement from 2006 is explained by points for singles being given all the way to chart position 135, where the 2006 edition only went to chart position 100

Since Bubbling Under is a new feature to this book here is a history of this chart (and its corresponding length)
Jun 59 - Dec 60 (15 positions) 1961-1962 (varied average 20 positions) 1962-1970 (varied average 30-35 positions) 1970-1974 (varied average 20 positions) 1974-1985 (10 positions) 1985-1992 no chart 1992 - present 25 positions
The chart came with this definition:
These records while they have not yet developed enough strength throughout the country for inclusion on any national chart anywhere, already have stimulated considerable regional action."
So this is why there were varying lengths for a time

2m,
do you like the inclusion of 'bubbling under' hits, or do you think it 'muddies up' the artists' hit lists? The jury is still out for me.
Unless Nelly releases a monster in the next three months, there's no way he will end up being the # 1 artist of the '00's. Beyonce is too close in overall points and has had too many chart hits this year.

I guess I was wrong again

Is the "featurings" count just include tracks where an act was the "featuring" act, or tracks where the act was the elad, and had someone else as a "featuring" act?
Peaks for 91-100 had received 10 pts. How many points are given for Bubbling Under entries?

Features are where Nelly was featured on someone else's track
I have no idea on the BU entries.
