No Boundaries is awesome in his hands but he deserves to win based on his decision to cover Falling Slowly and not suck at it. I just read the lyrics for the first time as I listened to his studio version. If I am going to hear something infest the airwaves and nighttime dramas, I would prefer it be something like this.

That is a thought that I have had....some of these types of artists can really fade fast or they all sound the same after awhile...I hope Kris can find a great balance for this album to avoid something like this.
I would love lot of acoustic stuff, but I hope to see alittle more upbeat stuff also, just not over produced.
But then again, with his version of Falling Slowly....he could easier try for that style of music......definitely alittle different than those other guys.

Anything more than about half acoustic may be a bit much for Kris's first album. Acoustic works better in the context of a live performance sometimes. I'd like to see Kris's label pair him with people like Jon McLaughlin to write tracks. I really enjoyed Jon when he opened for Kelly and I believe he also did some work with Randy Jackson. That's the direction Kris needs to go.

I still think he should consider a more... country sound. That would be a good commercial move, I think. I mean, is there any young male country singer on the scene right now? All the country males seem to be like 40 or something. They need some youth. Kris is young, cute, plays acoustic music, has a great voice, and is from the south, and is married. I know he's more of a John Mayer type of artist, but when you think about it, what's the difference between Taylor Swift and John Mayer? A steely guitar. ;)
I know it would be kind of like selling out a bit, but he should consider it. That Keith Urban performance was just sooo good. Like pop with a country twist, so he can attempt to get some country airplay.

I am thinking about a singer-songwriter doing pop with a country flavor and has crossover appeal.

Well, there are plenty of them. Not just Taylor Swift.

^ WTF are you talking about? Nobody said anything about teenage crushes. They're both singer-songriters. DUH.
And Taylor IS a singer songwriter. Again. WTF ???

^ That'd be great news IMO. I can't wait for confirmation on what label he signed to.

Jive is an odd fit for Kris. They usually sign young pop stars, Kris is an older, acoustic artist. I don't think the acoustic/Hot AC market is Jive's strong point.
But hey they're a good label, so they should know what to do.

Jive is one of the best labels around regardless of your genre. They are pretty on top of things, for the most part.
And let me just reiterate that I say a big hell no to country. How in the world is it a 'smart move' to completely abandon the style that led to his Idol victory in the first place? He has said he doesn't want to do country anyway and it's apparent that that's not who he is as an artist at all.

Yes! I hope hes signed to Jive!
The Country thing - I don't think that would be good. Plus hes said he doesn't want to do that.

Just an FYI they are screwing Nick Lachey over right now. I wouldn't be so quick to be excited about Jive. Their babies are Britney and Justin Timberlake.

Even if he did Pop/Rock with a Country flavor.. what is this Country flavor?
I don't think he should go Country at all. With all his singer-songwriter tunes I can see them trying to get some Country spins, but Country doesn't usually play artists that don't label themselves as Country. Am I wrong about that?
I would like him to work with Kanye though. I think he is versatile enough to do a cool Pop/Rock. Ryan Tedder would be a dream with him. Kris will be working with Kara right?
I've pin-pointed down what kind of album I want from him: Pop/Rock tinged with Soul. Sort of like if Jason Mraz, John Mayer and Robin Thicke were one person.

I hope he stays awaaaay from Ryan Tedder. How come? I don't want Ryan to give Kris the kind of stuff he gave Kelly, Jordin, Beyonce and Leona. More like the OneRepublic stuff. It fits the style Kris wants to do.

It fits the style Kris wants to do. That would be slightly better, but Tedder just bores me. There is nothing attention-grabbing about his material imo. I hope he stays awaaaay from Ryan Tedder. New hit song! Stay awaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy Awayyyyyyyyyyyyyy Stay awaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Awayyyyyyy awaaaaaaaay awaaaaaaaay That sounds deep, bro. ;)
