I think it will hang around the top 20 on the Hot 100 a while, if she promotes.
I just hope her next single doesn't completely flop after her recent track record.

she just needs to switch up her style, that's all. No pun intended, but she should re-invent herself, lol. These last 3 albums have been exactly the same type of music. She went from pop-princess to urban RnB princess successfully, now she needs to go from urban princess to something else. And if you don't switch it up, the public gets tired. Hence...flop.

Has it occured to anyone yet that maybe Mariah and her team have finally abandoned all those beating the Beatles craps? :o It's hard to believe, but the two songs that we've heard so far are more urban than anything she's done this decade, perhaps deliberately so. If they're still aiming for that #1, I'm sure they would come up with something more dancey, as I am sure IDJ is capable of conducting a market research, or at least, someone at IDJ must have enough sense to notice the most popular musical trends right now.

LOL it just got into the top 50 give it some time. I think this will be successful even though it is more urban than pop radio.

This thread is just so annoying to go to anymore. There's always posts about people saying how Obsessed sounds too much like this and less like this and how it will flop. I mean come on I read the same garbage over and over but just written differently. Okay and you "heard" that H.A.T.E.U. was too Urban. Jesus you haven't even heard the song and your saying it will flop.

^ You haven't heard the "Hate You" demo? It is very urban. Not that it's a bad thing, of course.

Maybe people wait for her album to drop instead of buying Obsessed. Do I sound like a delusional lamb?

Honestly, I think that Mariah is mainly still in it for the record-breaking and the chart successes. I don't get the feeling that she really is at that interested in any creative artistic development anymore. I think her and the label are literally thinking about how to craft the singles with the highest potential of hitting #1. That being said, they seriously misfired with "Obsessed."

i think this fell by one spin on pop yesterday...OMG .......I hate her label and team they are ruining her career! No wonder Janet dumped the bald fatso. According to all access she is back down to 56 pop stations down from 76 just Friday! She needs to trash this single and bring on something or do market research before releasing anything else this could be A NICOLE for our mimi and we dont' need another flop era!

I don't think it's over at Pop yet... It's still climbing on Rhythmic and Urban. Once it goes Top 5 there, (which there is a very high likelihood that it will). Pop will definitely jump on it.

She has alienated the pop audience too much.

And....if her fall on itunes continues as is, the sales of this single will flop monumentally for a first Mariah single.

She has alienated the pop audience too much. Please. She served Pop up a prime piece of old-school, pure pop Mimi with I'll Be Lovin U Long Time. Pop has alienated her, if anything.

Then everyone needs to chill the hell out. We can declare it over if it loses spins after the adds date.

We're going to be reminded that adds dates are "formalities".

the video is out the song has been out for a month.....the adds dates mean nothing....pop is passing on this for Shakira's horrible dance song and all other dance tracks...Mimi should have dumped the R&b dudes and gone dance why oh why didnt her team warn her? She could have done a Beyonce and released a ballad and obsessed at the same time and taken her chances? I cant stand to go through the last era again with pop ignoring mimi after the first single and flop after flop Mimi is not Nicole!

theyre ignoring her cus the song is lame.. i agree that adds dates are just formalities.. If it were a better song they would have been playing it regardless

For big artists, adds dates usually are formalities. If pop radio was going to jump on this I think it already would have. I am not sure it will become a hit on pop now. Its chance will be if it becomes HUGE on RHY and Urban and then slowly grows here.
