I agree with Will that "4 Minutes" is catchy, but I had to read what he wrote like four times to even work out what part of the song it was. That's totally not the catchy bit

As much as I love it, I kinda sort of understand why someone wouldn't like 4 Minutes.
Actually you know what no, I don't sorry LOL. As for denying it has both a musical and lyrical hook... For one, I had people around me who detest the song humming or singing it at some point when it was released.

Yeah, for such a dreadful song with no lyrical hook it sure was a WW phenomenon.

Now you've just run out of arguments. What argument, lol? The song was a massive hit EVERYWHERE, so the majority of the people of the world thought it had a catchy hook. Case closed. Next. Or perhaps they just like the production? Perhaps they just purchased it because they like Timberlake and Madonna or Timbaland? There are many reasons why it could have been a sales hit. 99 cents isn't going to put a person out. Best look at the album sales for how many people were really interested/invested in that sound.

This song sounds like a Cascada reject.

I don't think 4 Minutes sound much at all like anything else from that album is and far and away the strongest track. People weren't investing in any given 'sound', they were investing in the song itself. The general population doesn't buy a track based on a name.

Not to mention the single sold 2.6 million copies in the US alone. Yes, those were all clearly people who purchased it specifically because of the artists and not because they actually enjoyed the song. Next. I never said that they didn't like the record. I said it wasn't catchy. I even mentioned the fact that they may have liked Timbaland's production and it's so far be. yond obvious that 4M was more a Timberlake/Timbaland vehicle then a Madonna song.

But the fact is dear, if they didn't find the song catchy at all, most likely wouldn't have purchased it. Like, clearly. *and I know I can tell that you like it and that it's good*

But the fact is dear, if they didn't find the song catchy at all, most likely wouldn't have purchased it. That's not true at all. There are songs that aren't catchy which have done well due to the fact that they have excellent production. Mmmkay. You believe that.
