For those who have just joined us: Madonna has a new single out called "Celebration". It may or may not be as catchy as "4 Minutes". That is all.

This is so much better than anything off HC! Pleasant surprise, although too electronic/dance for my taste. I which it had a poppier sound, it definitely had that potential. Anyway, I like it. :)

Are we seriously debating how catchy a song is? What the hell.

That's not true at all. There are songs that aren't catchy which have done well due to the fact that they have excellent production. I'm intrigued to see this list. I'll use the four 90's teen queens: Jessica Simpson With YouBritney Spears I'm A Slave 4 UChristina Aguilera HurtMandy Moore I Wanna Be With YouNone of these songs have lyrical hooks.

At least it's arguing over Madonna songs (mostly) and no one else has really been brought into it yet! Bonus!!

Is this arguing really necessary? Some people like '4 Minutes', some people don't. Arguing over whether it's good or not is a complete waste of time.

Maybe I shouldn't keep this going but the performance of those four and 4 Minutes is pretty incomparable. Those are just examples, my established point is that you can have a successful song that is not catchy. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Finally, this thread gets open. Love the song. Cannot wait to dance to it.
P.S. I still don't get the hate for HC:P

This will be lucky to make the top 30 on CHR. It might not even crack the top 40.
It could manage top 10 on the Hot 100 though due to downloads.
I personally hate it, but this type of music isn't really my thing, so I'm probably not the best judge.

the production is very 1997 but it all somehow works cause of how she sings the lyrics. In the UK and Europe I heard theres a 'bit' of a 90s/techno/rave revival (seems a bit soon) but im sure she knows what shes doing! anyways this should easily be massive in many euro countries . As for the US lol, well hopefully she have huge itune 1st week sales I love how dance songs going for adds at Pop brings out some members' lack of knowledge of dance music. "Celebration" is about as close to rave as Miley Cyrus is to gangsta rap. It has a trance vibe but its definitively not something you'd hear at a rave, at least at the ones I used to attend.

I LOVE CELEBRATION!!!! The first verse is frickin' brilliant and one of the best hooks i've heard in a long time! It totally gets you goin. The spoken part is good too. Miles ahead of 4 Minutes, btw. They can't even be compared.

The thing I really dislike about the song is how the music totally drowns her out. It's extremely hard to understand most of what she's saying. I'm liking it more though.

I am surprised she decided to do a total dance track that any dance queen could have put out...it has no pop hooks what so ever .....and Paul has never had a pop hit every on billboard! What was she thinking...I love Madonna but if she wants another bb hot 100 top 40 hit she better think as she did with four minutes....maybe this will grow on me but i have a feeling it will hit number one on the dance chart and some international charts and maybe lower half of bb hot 100 if she is lucky...major miss.

WOW The queen of pop is back! Well, Hung Up is one of the most successful singles of all time! no1 in 45 countries, an all time record! I don't think anyone will ever top that. I can see Celebrate though hitting no1 in more than 25-30 countries which is HUGE compared to other monster hits which hit no1 in 10-15 countries. But nobody can be compared to the Queen and her power.

the song overall is fine and CATCHY = effective hit song, BUT again, I just am not loving the production; it's souless. Her lyrics and the way she delivers the vocals are waaaay better than Oakenfelds tinny production.
