I think Mariah leads with overall #1's. What exactly is this chart is is airplay or sales or both.

Mariah's first 10 singles all went to #1 @ R&R, so I'm sure she's had far more than 14 charttoppers to date.

This covers airplay at Contemporary Hit Radio (CHR)/Mainstream top 40/Pop.
I added Jennifer Lopez to the "Most Top 10 Hits" section.

If you're going by R&R, Celine also had 10 top 10s.

^Yes- "Love is in Control" peaked at No. 17 on R&R's chart, though- hence, the difference in the count.

I could work on one at some point (unless someone else takes it up).
Based on info from the first page, Elton John has the most entries for a male (48) since 1973. He also has the most top 40 entries (46) among males and most top 20 entries (35). Michael Jackson has the second-most top 20 entries (29), while Prince has 28. In regards to top 10 hits, Michael Jackson has the most among males since 1973 (26), followed by Elton (24) and Prince (22). For top 5 hits, Michael J. has 20, while Elton has 18. For No. 1s, Michael J. leads males with has 11 since 1973.
NOTE: Looking at pre-1973 hits, MJ had six solo top 50 hits on the Hot 100, with three of them being top five and one No. 1. Elton John has six top 50 Hot 100 hits, with five being top 10. Of course, pop airplay charts weren't published for viewing at that time, so here nor there (and imagine what Elvis Presley's counts would be).

I updated Rihanna's top 20 tally in the first post on this page, and added Most Top 5 Pop Hits to the same post.
"Princess of China" is charting on Mediabase, but has not cracked Billboard's pop Songs chart as of yet. I think I'll just hold off until it charts o nthe latter, as Billboard is tied to R&R now. "Take Care" looks to be the next top 40 hit on the official chart, so I will add that once it happens.
And, we missed Kelly Clarkson for most top 10s- I added her to the list. Looks like "Mr. Know It All" missed the top 10 on Billboard's Pop Songs chart (No. 11), but maybe she'll add to her top 10 tally with "Stronger."
Madonna will be releasing her new single soon- will it become her...
54th top 40 pop hit? 49th top 20 pop hit? 39th top 10 pop hit?
The categories she has the best shot at adding to her tally are top 40 hits and possibly top 20 hits. Top 10 at pop would be surprising. But, if any 50-plus-year-old could do it at this stage, she'd be the one.

Given the buzz so far, I'm quite certain Madonna will score her 49th Top 20 Pop hits. Fingers crossed.

Added Paula Abdul to the Most Top 10 Pop Hits and Most Top 5 Pop Hits lists in the first post of this page. I had her on the No. 1s list, but how did I miss her on those?

"Take Care" enters Billboard's Pop Songs/Mainstream Top 40 chart this week; and, "Princess of China" has charted. So, Rihanna has passed Houston and Spears and has amassed 30 top 40 hits at pop radio. I updated it in the first post on this page.

Added Jennifer Lopez to Most Top 40 Pop Hits list in first post of this page; "T.H.E." is her 19th top 40 appearance.

Thank you- more to keep track of than I had thought. :) I had her in the "Most Top 40 Pop Hits" list, but missed her in the top 10s list.

Should you include: - Christina among most #1s with 5 (GIAB, WAGW, LM, B, MLJ)? - Beyonce among most Top40s with 18 (besides Top 20 she would have Countdown, RTW, UTEOT?) - Barbra Streisand with 7 Top 5 (NMT and Guilty)

I think another fun thing to keep track of would be most consecutive #1s.
Who all top that at the moment? Mariah Carey - 10 {VOL, LTT, SD, IDWC, EMT, CLG, MIH, IBT, DLV, HR} Katy Perry - 7* {WUIV, CG, TD, FW, ET, LFN, TOTGA} Lady Gaga - 6 {JD, PF, LG, PPRZ, BR, TLP} Whitney Houston - 6 {HWIK, GLOA, IWDWS, DWAHIA, SE, WDBHG} Michael Jackson - 6 {TL, IJCSLY, B, TWYMMF, MITM, DD} Alanis Morissette - 5 {IRN, YL, HOF, UIVT, TU}
*Well, she will before too long.
Are there any others that belong in this list? I'm counting five consecutive #1s or more.

UIVT? Huh? Uninvited Invited Vited Ted?? IRN? Ironic Ronic Nic? TL? If you want to help with the one-word titles, better use Capital only for the first letter.

Updated Rihanna's Top 20 count, as "Take Care" has cracked that portion of the pop chart.
