Yep, HG! And good catch with Linda!!! I don't know much about her songs, but she managed to be somewhere out there among my favorite female singers of the 80s ;)

Updated P!nk's stats to reflect her latest No. 1 for the 5/18 chart.
Billboard reports eight leaders; error? I e-mailed Mr. Trust.
EDIT: The Billboard article's been updated to reflect her ninth chart topper.

I wonder if "#Beautiful" will allow Mariah to finally surpass JJ in the ranking of female singers with most Top 10s. She will tie JJ in the list of most Top 40s, finally!

HG and other posters have been trying to work in that list for some time (you can check previous pages of this thread to read those messages), and have even asked for help. We have all heard of those singers and many more (Bruce Springsteen, John Cougar/Mellencamp, Eric Clapton, Sting, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Steve Winwood, Tom Petty, George Michael, Phil Collins, Kenny Rogers, Lionel Richie, Eminem, Diddy, Billy Idol, Prince, Michael Bolton, etc.) How about you contributing to the list rather than complaining? ;)

Madonna having 33 Top 5 hits seems to be the most impressive statistic on those lists.

leon, if you've read through this, I've talked about how it's more difficult with the males, given that the archive site doesn't list every single "featuring" for some of the acts.
Here is a work-in-progress listing for male solo acts. If anyone finds additional info, corrections, etc., please share. :) I have an * next to Justin Timberlake and Pitbull (and some Bruno Mars)- if I missed a featuring hit, again, please inform. And I'm not sure if I have all of Akon's.
RE Chris Brown: If someone can count up his number of entries (again, the chart archive site may have missed a "featuring" link or two), I will add him to the list.

GREAT JOB, as always, HG!!! I was going to suggest you post what you have, so that we can help you cross-checking --as we did with some female acts ;) I know leonagwen meant well, and I was being facetious, but good to see that we can also discuss male acts now. Woohoo!!

Hey, HG, first observations about Elton John: - He should be in the list of most #1s. Mediabase shows 6 (...Brick Road, Bennie..., Lucy..., Philly..., Island..., Don't Go...) - Mediabase shows 19 Top 5. Wonder what the difference is? #5 peakers are: Bitch.., Sorry..., Still...

JuanK- the archive is Radio & Records, and then Mediabase. I've been looking at Billboard's chart for peaks when R&R ceased.
I added Elton to the No. 1s list and fixed his top 5 count- I count 19, as well. :) Keep in mind that "That's What Friends Are For" is not part of his history (though I believe that Billboard counts it as one of his hits- his name, and the two other featured acts, did have their names listed on the sleeve under the title, after "Featuring:...").
John Denver had one No. 1 on CHR/Pop- "I'm Sorry/Calypso."

Yes, I am aware of TWFAF :) I posted a comment in the thread about non-credited acts, regarding how "(non)friendly" Dionne Warwick was. She kept the credit due to the mention of her name as a lead act, but her other singers did not receive any. Is that what friends are for?? You might want to check the info of the following acts too: - 50 Cent: 8 Top 10s in a row from IDC to Just a lil' bit plus his feature credit with Jeremih (Down on me) (so 9 Top 10s and 3 top 5s); 14 Top 20s including featured credits on Game, Jeremih, Eminem songs - Puff Daddy/ P. Diddy / Diddy: 1 #1; 3 Top 5s; 6 Top 10s (including featured credits with Nelly and Mario Winans); 8 Top 20s; 12 Top 40s (maybe more if some featured are not included). - Rick Astley: 5 Top 10s (including 2 #1s) - Christopher Cross: 2 #1, 5 Top 5, 6 Top 10, 7 Top 20, 8 Top 40 - Andy Gibb: 2 #1, 3 Top 5, 6 Top 10, 8 Top 20 - David Guetta: 1 #1, 4 Top 5, 5 Top 10, 9 Top 20, 13 Top 40s - David Bowie: 1 #1, 2 Top 5, 5 Top 10, 7 Top 20, 13 Top 40 - Don Henley: 1 #1, 3 Top 5, 6 Top 10, 9 Top 20, 12 Top 40 - Peter Cetera: 1 #1, 3 Top 5/10 - Sean Paul; 2 #1 (incl. with Beyonce), 3 Top 5, 6 Top 10 (incl. with Rihanna), 7 Top 20, 12 Top 40 Less successful: - Ricky Martin: 4 Top 10s (incl. 1 #1), 5 Top 20s, 6 Top 40s - James Ingram: 1 #1, 2 Top 5s, 4 Top 10s, 7 Top 20/40s

Justin Timberlake scores a sixth No. 1 at pop- though I already had him at six. Hmmm... :)
Thanks for the notes, JuanK- thanks. :) I upped the threshold for listings in the categories, so there aren't THAT many more listed than there are for the female ones. For ones like Puff Daddy and 50 Cent, we probably should check their Hot 100 history and then cross-reference to see if there are any that may not be listed under them or linked to the main act.
We're on our way. :)

Nothing of note on either the female or male list for the 6/15 chart; when Bruno Mars' latest hits the top 10, that will be his 10th, so he'll join that list. :)

^Totally overlooked him- you can understand that, right? I adjusted his totals. :) The BDS chart doesn't credit him, though I imagine Billboard regards it as an try for Nelly?

RiRi- shocker- lands another top 40 entry. Billboard reports she has 36- did "Pour it Up" sneak onto Billboard's chart and I missed it? Otherwise, I'm still off one.

Britney Spears debuts at 27* this week, so I updated her top 40 count.
I have Rihanna's top 40 hits count with an *, Billboard reported 36 top 40 entries. I thought it was 35, but I'll have to go back and check.
No notable male activity- though I have yet to get to Chris Brown's totals- he's featured on a current top 40 entry.

Justin Timberlake and Pitbull land new top 40 hits.
Also- I believe I have all of Rihanna's 36 Mainstream Top 40/Pop Songs entries. "Pour it Up" peaked at 40 on Mediabase, but I don't believe it reached Billboard's chart. And "Birthday Cake" reached 41 on Mediabase, and that didn't reach Billboard's chart, either.

Ms. Alecia Moore-Hart scores another top 40 entry.
I have Olivia Newton-John at 24, but, in the R&R database, there are 22 Olivia hits, and then "The Grease Megamix" would be 23. Did I have her total one too high? (before R&R's inception, there was "If Not For You").
