Well, I'm pretty certain this album will outperform JW. There's no doubt in my mind.

Oprah talked about Whitney's interview on ET tonight.....she said she had JUST watched the Diane Sawyer interview FOR THE FIRST TIME the night before her interview with Whitney and was scared Whitney would maybe be defensive like that, not be truly ready to talk, etc. But she was like YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ANY OF THAT! Oprah said Whitney talks about how her mom came to her house with the sheriffs, what drugs she used, how she used them, etc. etc. :o :o www.etonline.com/news/2009/09/78383/

showbiz411.blogs.thr.com/Whitney Houston in at No. 1 with 300K-PlusBy: Roger Friedman // Tuesday September 8, 2009 Whitney Houston makes a triumphant return to the album charts this week at No. 1 in her debut week. Her album, “I Look to You,” sold more than 300,000 copies. The final count is in, and hitsdailydouble reports a whopping 301,000 copies sold. And just think: Next Monday and Tuesday, Whitney holds court on “Oprah” for two hours total. She’s on her way to 1 million in sales in less than a month. That’s quite an achievement for a singer who hasn’t had a new release in seven years, was considered “washed up” by gossip naysayers. Houston can be proud of herself for what she’s done to recover from her personal problems. And then, of course, there’s Clive Davis, Larry Jackson, Richard Palmese and co. at Arista Records, Whitney’s trusted aide de camp Lynn Volkmann, sister-in-law Pat Houston and mom Cissy. It takes a village, after all. Now just think what Clive’s pre-Grammy dinner will be like this year! Whitney has hits galore on “I Look to You,” but I still say, when they release Leon Russell’s “A Song for You,” it will trigger an avalanche. Whitney has the jump on Mariah Carey, whose own new album is coming on Sept. 29 with lots of hits included. It’s too bad there aren’t any record stores anymore! What with the Beatles action and these ladies, there would certainly be traffic I don't think that 1mil is realistic but certainly 600-650k in a month which is still great!

She clearly doesn't have to go in such detail but she seems to want to share her story. Clive and her daughter was there for the interview. That takes courage and guts.

How this woman is still alive is beyond me. Only God and through numerous prayers is she still here with us. Lets me know that God has a plan for her life and she wasn't meant to stay down. *We fall down but we get up* I have no idea why I'm singing so much lol. Anyway, it's truly amazing to see her coming back and making her way to the top.

I love that picture. That could have been used as the album cover too. Is it just me or does Whitney look much younger as ever?

More Global Chart Debuts For The Album: #1 Switzerland (Also certified Gold) #2 Norway (Following a #2 in Sweden) #3 France #25 Portugal #63 Japan (Import Sales Only - 1,870 copies) I think she's a lock for #1 in Canada too, which would so far make it 5 territories that it's hit #1 in: US, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Canada! Also in Switzerland, "I Look To You" & "Million Dollar Bill" both debut at #'s 16 & 40 respectively. And "I Will Always Love You" reenters at #93.

Her next Pop/Rhythmic single is Call You Tonight and the next Urban single is Worth It. I don't know if I think they should do another double single at the same time again. It was cool for the first single(s), but don't do it each time. One time is enough. They're gonna waste singles this way, IMO. Just release "Call You Tonight" to all formats next. It's PERFECT for the Fall!

Well, "Call You Tonight" should be the third single. No double single. "Call Tonight" should be released to multiple formats.

Clive on ET talking about Whitney, her album, the response to her album, the first week sales, her GMA performance, Oprah interview etc This man clearly loves him some Nippy- I'm glad that he put the GMA appearance in perspective- it' s clear that that Oprah performance was draining and she had just done 2 late night, all day videos- www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWMvYhkLc_ECLIVE DAVIS ON WHITNEY'S TRIUMPHANT COMEBACK Whitney Houston has done it again, with her long-awaited album I Look to You debuting at No. 1. Legendary record producer Clive Davis weighs in on the achievement - but is it really a comeback? "I think this album has got it; I think that Whitney Houston has still got it, big time," Clive tells ET. "She's been away from the recording scene for over seven years, so for Whitney to have a No. 1 album is thrilling." The Grammy winner has sold millions of records, but Clive says, "It's surprising in view of the fact that she's had such incredible selling albums, but this is the biggest opening week Whitney's ever had." "All you've got to do is listen to the album," continues Clive. "The kind of mail that we're getting all over the world in response to this album not only shows that Whitney's still got it, but … shows that she has newfound maturity and emotional power." Watch ET for more with Whitney, including details from her incredible Oprah interview! www.etonline.com/news/2009/09/78394/

We see that Miley cyrus was never any competitition as her 2 wk sales are still less than Whitney's debut week (Miley is overexposed now) Pitbull: It's official, he's a Flo-rider- huge digital single sales did not translate into album sales. I hope that ILTY holds up with sales over 100k this week- I'm thinking that it will. We should know sometime today when HDD put out their early estimates which will include how Jayz is trending.
