I think next week she will be able to sustain +100k sales. I'm hoping for 150k on Oprah week!
Congrats Whit!

Are "Call You Tonight" and "Worth It" confirmed next singles? I say she ditch the multiple format idea and send CYT to all formats. The song can be a pretty decent hit, IMO.

I think it's pretty evident that Call You Tonight will be the next single. From what I gathered Worth It will follow Call You Tonight as the following single, not as a dual single.

^ Okay. That's a much smarter idea. I love "Worth It" and don't mind it as a single but I really hope Whitney and her label consider one of Danja's bangers as the single after CYT.

Yeah I think after Worth It they're gonna go with For the Lovers (my fav)! Salute/IGY/LINL are probably gonna follow after that.

They NEED to release "A Song For You"! LOL I think they'll release it internationally. I don't think it will do that well in the US imo.

WHITNEY HOUSTON'S I LOOK TO YOU DEBUTS AT NO. 1 ACROSS THE GLOBE WHITNEY LAUNCHES OPRAH'S SEASON PREMIERE WITH POWERFUL INTERVIEW AND PERFORMANCE ON SEPTEMBER 14 AND SEPTEMBER 15 NEW YORK, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Proving that it was well worth the wait, Whitney Houston's long-awaited album I Look To You debuts at No. 1 on several charts across the world, including the US Top Albums and R&B Album charts, according to Nielsen/Soundscan. With 304,801 units sold within the first week of release in the US, this marks Whitney's biggest first week sales of her career and the best selling first week by a female artist this year! Houston's No. 1 position extends across the globe and claims the top spots in Canada, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. Led by the dual release of the album title track and "Million Dollar Bill" at radio, coupled with presale promotional campaigns on Amazon.com, QVC and iTunes, and a heavily promoted appearance on Good Morning America, the chart-topping result marks the official return of "The Voice." And the critics agree! The New York Times boasts that Whitney "re-emerges with full diva qualifications," USA Today said: "Strong, confident and ready, she clearly hadn't forgotten how to sing imbuing the material with emotional power." The Washington Post cites I Look To You "hits all the right marks" and the Associated Press states "the pop queen still has a dazzling voice that can leave you spellbound." The spell will continue next week when Whitney Houston launches the 24th season of The Oprah Winfrey Show with a two-day event, inclusive of what Oprah calls "the best interview I've ever done," and an emotional performance of "I Didn't Know My Own Strength" that had "grown men and women weeping in the aisles" according to Oprah's recent Twitter post. "The Oprah Winfrey Show: Season Premiere: Oprah And Whitney Houston - The First Interview" airs Monday, September 14, 2009. "The Oprah Winfrey Show: Season Premiere Part II: Whitney Houston's Show-Stopping Surprise" airs Tuesday, September 15, 2009 (check local listings). Well, lots of people swore Miley would sell more based on the fact of what happened with Britney and The Eagles with their Walmart only EP. I can't lie, I was worried myself. lol

That's a good look...gettingWhit's cd- it's really good - Regarding Miley- no shade- he's just expressing that several people thought that Miley would edge out Whitney because of her mass appeal even though her EP was only being sold at Wal-mart. Me, personally, I think that she, like Drake is running the risk of being too exposed!

Can we edit the title of this thread to reflect 305k cds sold not 304k- the actual amount is 304,801k which is more than enough to round up! Thanks.

Canadian Sales: Whitney Houston debuts at No. 1 By JOHN WILLIAMS Senior Editor, JAM! Showbiz Whitney Houston made like it was the '80s all over again by scoring the top album in the land. Her long-awaited return, "I Look To You," shot to the top of the Canadian charts selling 10,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan data. It's easily Houston's best opening totals since Neilsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1996. Her last album, 2002's "Just Whitney," debuted at No. 85 with just 3,000 in sales. -------------------------- BTW, wonderful news from the UK. Million Dollar Bill is A-Listed on BBC Radio 2's Playlist, which is the biggest and most important radio station in terms of audience figures. It also means that you should expect a huge rise on the UK radio airplay chart in the next couple of weeks. www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/music/playlist/index.shtmlBBC Radio 2 is the biggest radio station in the UK, catering more to Adult Contemporary music as you can see.

According to my radio contact, the next 2 singles are supposed to be dual, which makes sense. I don't think either song has much crossover appeal but I do think they would both dominate at their core formats.

Isn't Radio 1 more influent than Radio 2 ? I've heard Radio1 is like UK's Z100, in terms of influence through other radio stations across the country.

"Call You Tonight" sounds like something would do well on multiple formats. It sounds like everything else that has hit radio since 2006.

SOUNDSCAN (WEEK ENDING 9/6/09) 1) Whitney Houston – I Look To You – 304,801 2) Miley Cyrus – Time Of Our Live EP – 153,147 (After 2 weeks – 215484) Go Whitney!!! :) Wal-Mart early sales of Miley's EP the previous week did NOT affect where Miley would have landed on the BB200 chart if it was released on the correct date. Also, Miley still wouldn't have outsold Whitney according to these Soundscan sales numbers. Whitney outsold Miley by 89,317.

I'm sure they'll do well but with all these dual singles how will her album span. I mean she only has 11 songs on the album to begin with...
