It's actually a bit jarring to hear CC and MS back-to-back. I have them in that order on my iPod. You go from "that boy is like a disease" to "he is good, so good; he treats your little girl like a real man should." I'm still loving MS. I love that Carrie's doesn't belt; love the head voice parts; love how she curls notes; love that the emotion is there in the recorded version of the song. And I am loving this iTunes Countdown. You get to appreciate (or not appreciate) one song at a time, instead of getting everything (other than the lead single) in a bulk package. IMO, it's great marketing. If you're popular, you have a song speeding up iTunes each week and placing on the Hot 100. Btw, MS is now #11 on country; and #84 on all genres.

I love MS! Carrie is such an amazing vocalist and I think this song really shows it. Great wedding song that's for sure.

hm coincidence or not that TH is released after MS? maybe they read the feedback that it wasn't easy to appreciate MS since it was sung after TH during the taping.

Mama's Song is just beautiful. I love it. I'm thinking there is a hockey mom in Canada who must be just as proud and touched by this song as Carrie's mom.

^ :) Good point!
Also, MS is now #7 on country and #65 on all genres. Since CC is at #2 on country, Carrie has 2 songs in the top 10. I wonder if all 4 (CC, MS, TH, UI) can all be in the top 10 simultaneously.

She sounds good on "Mama's Song," but I could do without the cheesy lyrics. I'm more excited for "Temporary Home" and "Undo It." Weren't those the fan favorites from the Invitation only event?

Weren't those the fan favorites from the Invitation only event? they were all fan favorites to be more serious, i think everyone agreed that TH is her best co-write so far in her career. wait till you all hear it.

carrie has always got that deadpan sense of humro that i really love. cant wait for the comedy sketches.
i like mama's song. i like the simplicity of the melody and underprodction, so to speak. fits the feeling of the song. the lyrics could have been better, but i guess all carrie wants to tell in the song is that she found the right man to her mommy. carrie's vocals shines. i like the vocals in here than in cc. to me there's some parts of cc where it seems that she was fighting the music again. this one is just level.
so i see theyre releasing the songs already sung in the invitation only on itunes. man, carrie has this album close to the vest!

Her song produced by Max Martin made the album.

^ Yes, it's track #2 entitled "Quitter." It was also co-written by Max Martin, Shellback, and Savan Kotecha. ETA: Does anyone know when the Walmart Soundcheck thing goes live? Is it midnight of October 15th? ETA2: twitter.com/crystaldarche(radio announcer from Vancouver, BC, Canada)

www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpRZ_HdlsS0&Tyler posted this over at cf. Interview about Mama's Song interesting. she talks about the song being a bit vague because of the possibility of the double meaning with the guy possibly being God (ie giving the kid away to God when the kid leaves home for college etc), because that was one of my thoughts too when i heard the song. that explains the lack of development in the lyric.

Whaaat? I scoffed when Alison Bonaguro of CMT theorized that the song could be about God. She was right?! I thought Carrie already talked about how this song came about during CMT Invitation Only. That Kara was asking her if she had a boyfriend, etc. Also, Carrie, get some sleep!

Thanks Jeff. I didnt really think about that possibility (Heaven help me I hope that doesnt make me a heathen ;)) Given that I will have a daughter heading to college next fall I am feeling very ope n to that interpretation of the song.

I really enjoyed this interview. I can tell she really FEELS the song and that makes me like it even more. I think it will touch a lot of people even with it's generic lyrics.

i guess alison is vindicated lol.
when i first heard the song at the taping i did think that it sounded like it could be about God. i even commented (via PM to some) that i thought it sounded like what i would sing in Sunday school as a kid.
the song did come about when Kara asked carrie about her bf, i guess as they wrote the song they decided to leave it general so it could take on a different meaning for others.
this explains the generality of the lyric and lack of development (my main criticism of the song). as crazy as this sounds, the lyrics make so much more sense to me now.

Congrats to Carrie on her nomination. Hopefully she'll be able to take it this year, although Swift is really on fire right now.

I'm so excited TH is the next countdown song! It actually makes more sense to me in that context, especially the chorus. I originally felt the song wasn't specific enough about what made him "good", but if you listen to it knowing the double meaning it makes more sense why she doesn't have to describe it. But I wonder how many casual listeners will have heard about the double meaning?
