I hope this is true. For people that own The Fame already, there's no need to buy it again but there are enough new tracks to warrant a separate release. I'll be getting this one. Although I do wonder, how will Billboard count this? I'm assuming The Fame is being re-released as well as having this released on its own?

So she's having a re-release and her "sophomore album" released the same week? ??? That's going to split her sales...

This isn't her sophomore album. It's her first EP. Her first EP with new material yes. Her other EPs are The Cherrytree Sessions and Hitmixes. And Red And Blue as Stefani.

Although I do wonder, how will Billboard count this? I'm assuming The Fame is being re-released as well as having this released on its own? That's what we were discussing in the Bad Romance thread yesterday I believe. There's so many possibilities, it will be very interesting to see how it plays out. So she's having a re-release and her "sophomore album" released the same week? ??? That's going to split her sales... Yeah that's why I don't think it's going to count as a re-release with the special edition, but this week we should be able to see all the details and have a better idea. And I don't think this is going to count as her sophomore album but rather her EP. It's really confused right now, all that's known for sure is the EP and the special edition of The Fame, but how will it count on Billboard??

Hmm...I was hoping for a rerelease so I could have an excuse to buy The Fame, which I never bought but whatever.

It will be included still. There will be a package deal at most outlets for $15 or so.

I'm not sure how this will all work out but I'm fine with it. I was going to buy the album either way even though I still have The Fame.

Billboard still considers the deluxe as a re-release Then the deluxe sales will count toward The Fame? and the EP as its own. And then regular copies of The Fame will still be produced, instead of pulling them in place of the re-release (when that was planned).

But BB hasn't yet considered the Fame Monster 8 song CD as separate yet.

Hmm, I own The Fame in mp3, and I I'd consider purchasing the deluxe edition to have the actual CDs, which is something I haven't done in.... I can't remember how long. I think Gaga has reached that critical mass of great singles where many casual listeners will now be willing to give her entire catalog a chance. She seems to be gaining a lot of new fans.
Should be interesting to see how BB handles the re-release/EP situation.

I actually like the way they are doing this...I'm sure there's plenty of people who haven't yet bought The Fame but want to, and now they can with the additional songs. At the same time though there's people like me who bought The Fame already. I honestly wouldn't mind buying the entire full release again--in fact, I was planning on it--but now that they are releasing just the new eight songs separately, I'm going to get that because it's cheaper.

i'll def buy the 8-song set...but it really seems like a waste. either do 3 extra songs and re-release or wait and do a new album...what's the point of this? did the label want to make her do it so they could extend the success of her debut album? seems cheap and not something LG would want to do.

^^ This seems like something LG would totally be up for. Unless I'm just buying into her schtick, she really seems to want to give the fans something like this. Why sit on songs that she wrote and obviously stands behind.

Lady Gaga was never a fan of the re-release in the first place. There's video of her saying as much. That's all her record label that wanted to do this. Lady Gaga did NOT want her fans paying extra money for the 8 new songs since a lot of her fans already have her "The Fame" album. Interscope Records did NOT want to do this. Interscope wanted the extra cash. Lady Gaga had to fight for this 8 song EP for her fans. Lady Gaga wants her fans to have her new music but, she doesn't want fans to pay for songs they already purchased if they have her "The Fame" album.

Yeah, I clearly remember her saying she thought of Monster as being her sophomore album and she wanted it presented to and treated by her fans as such.

Originally it was planned to be one, now it's an EP with 8 tracks for $8. according to the link you posted-GaGa Daily, there will be a deluxe version including the original The Fame album so basically it is a re-release but for those who already have The Fame, they decided to sell the new disc separately. and i think it's not confirmed yet ??? That's great. At least people have to option to buy just the new material :)

Will Lady Gaga release "The Fame" as a single? Hopefully not. And I'm pretty sure any more singles from "The Fame" will be from "The Fame: Monster."

But BB hasn't yet considered the Fame Monster 8 song CD as separate yet. They will/should unless they change the rules. In order to count as the same title, there needs to be a certain number of songs from the original release on the re-release. There will be no songs from The Fame on TFM EP.

"Bad Romance" and "Lady GaGa" are trending on Twitter; the video is getting out of this world response.
BB will count the 8-track TFM as a new CD. No doubt about it.

I'm seeing the album being promoted as The Fame Monster: the new album from Lady Gaga. So basically it's being marketed as its own separate entity. I will consider it her sophomore album because everything is completely fresh and new. It's the start of a new era as far as I'm concerned. Sure it has its ties to the previous one, but enough is different for this to be on its own.
The video is brilliant. I am really stoked to hear the rest of the new stuff she came up with. If it's even remotely near the same level as "Bad Romance", I will be one happy camper.

I have hated all of Lady Gaga's music videos, but that has changed with BR! I love everything about. This will most likely win Video of the Year next year at the VMA's.
