What live songs have done well on CHR? I don't want to define "well" but I suppose we shouldn't even consider anything that never made it to top 40 on mediabase. I was trying to think and nothing came to mind. I would love if the big name vocalists released some live tracks from time to time but CHR has gone in such a produced/auto tuned direction that it is less likely the more I think about it. Who has done it, what was the biggest live hits, or has it really never happened on CHR? I feel certain I must be forgetting SOMETHING.

Wasn't the live version of Sarah McLachlan's I Will Remember You in 1999 the one that CHR played? I think that got to like #9 or so.

I know you said top 40 only, but this is the only one I know. "Beat It" by Fall Out Boy featuring John Mayer went to #43 on Mediabase in 2008, and I believe that was live.

I know this doesn't really work, but I've heard some stations play the Live @ Nova version of Kelly's "Already Gone" late at night. I wish that was the version they played the whole day.

Haha I knew it was to promote their live album. ;) But I'm pretty sure there was a studio version of their cover which was used as the single. EDIT: Yep, definitely a studio version. There's a live version on the album, but they also recorded a studio version, which is on the collector's edition bonus CD.

First thing that came to mind was "Outside" by Aaron Lewis (Staind) and Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit).

This! Truly that raw, down-to-earth sound that has been missing from the pop chart for quite awhile.

Eric Clapton - Tears In Heaven (MTV Unplugged) He performed this song on the Unplugged album, but it was the studio version from the Rush soundtrack that charted. His unplugged remake of "Layla", however, was a top 10 hit. The "Unplugged" series did well for other artists, too. Rod Stewart had three top 40 singles: "Have I Told You Lately", "Reason To Believe", and "Having A Party". 10,000 Maniacs went top 10 with "Because The Night".

What about That I Would Be Good? I heard the unplugged version countless times here in the Netherlands, not sure whether it did anything in the US.

There's also Blues Traveler's "But Anyway". That one peaked in the 20's in 1996.

The most obvious one is Frampton's "Baby I Love Your Way" The live-ness actually made it a better song
