AND let's not forget she'll be honored at the BET Honors in Washington DC. It'll be filmed on Jan 16th and airing Feb 1st!
WHITNEY HOUSTON - Whitney Houston has established a benchmark for superstardom that will quite simply never be eclipsed in the modern era, with over 170 million combined album, singles and videos sold worldwide during her career with Arista Records. She is a singer's singer who has influenced countless other vocalists, both female and male. Music historians cite Whitney's record-setting achievements: the only artist to chart seven consecutive #1 Billboard Hot 100 hits; the first female artist to enter the Billboard 200 album chart at #1; and the only artist with seven consecutive multi-platinum albums. Her current album "I Look To You" debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts when it was released this past August and to date has sold 2 million copies worldwide. In February, Whitney will commence her long-awaited Nothing But Love World Tour 2010, with dates starting in Soeul, Korea and moving on to Japan, Australia and Europe.

As long as they showed her love, that's all that matters. The NAACP spreads the love. They are finally giving Maxwell his due, so I understand why they nominated him everywhere. The fact that the NAACP embraced Whitney's comeback more than the Grammys means a lot.

Love Maxwell and no shade at him butt he NAACP noms are odd for the females to say the least. Whitney is nominated for Outstanding female artist but not album....makes no sense- sort of like Beyonce and Taylor at the MTV VMAs.
However, I'm glad that they nominated her and that BET is honouring her. I can't wait to see who the singers will be to serenade her. I'm thinking that J-Hud will be one of the 2.

ILTY drops back to 101 on the Billboards 200- remember, though, that its sales probably were higher than they would have been a couple weeks back, post-Oprah rerun. And last week was Christmas week, so it dropped back to a more "normal" range.

Will Urban AC give "Worth It" the same kind of love it gave ILTY and MDB? Because that format really is the only one that's going to give Whit notable airplay.
With Whit touring outside the USA, I guess we can't expect much in the way of upcoming promo? Is she even going to tour in the USA?

I'm sure she'll tour the USA but there's no set dates announced yet. :(
I'd say probably in the Fall

The only reason why they are going with "Worth It" as the next single is because some of her dumb fans keep emailing Richard Palmese about "Worth It" being the next single. They need to stay off that man's d!ck. He should change his email address. If "Worth It" flops, watch them email Palmese and b!tch up a storm. Ugh. They did the same thing with MDB!
With that said, "Worth It" may be her biggest hit of the era... hopefully.

Happy New Year From Whitney
JANUARY 7, 2010, 4:46 pm
Happy 2010 to all my whitney.com "peeps" and all my fans everywhere! First of all, let me wish you the happiest, healthiest and most blessed New Year! 2009 was a great year for me and I am pleased to let you know that my album has sold 2 million copies worldwide and is still going strong! Look for a new single soon. As you know, this is the year of my first world wide tour in almost 11 years so I hope to see many of you at my shows. The tour is going to be spectacular - we have an incredible brand new stage set and of course a brand new set list, which will cover songs from albums old and new. Hope to see you all soon! Peace, Whitney

You know, "Worth It" was not instant for me and over the first month, rarely played. HOWEVER, it really grew on me and IMO, are the best vocals on the album for me! I say its a safe choice and should do well on Urban

I can understand being disappointed if your favorite track isn't getting a single release, but you shouldn't be because you think one track has more hit potential than another. Whitney is not going to rack up big airplay at this point- but if the track clicks at her core format, it can help sustain album sales.

Well I hope it not only garners loads of Urban AC airplay, but Urban radio altogether. Maybe even Rhythmic will give it some spins?

Rhythmic is pretty ageist, as well, so I wouldn't look for too much in the way of spins from that format.
So, I wonder if Whit's setlist will differ from the show she did in Russia. It seemed pretty similar to concerts she had done in recent years (i.e. the love medley). Hopefully there will be some changes. Like keeping "Step By Step" in there, for one. :) Some "One Moment in Time" would be nice, too, as well as "I Have Nothing."

Worth It is the best choice. Whitney will not be getting any airplay but Urban AC so that is the best single to choose, because Pop will barely play anything she releases.

grouper, please edit the thread's title to include the next single. :)
Yeah I mean I'm sure the bulk of WI's airplay will be Urban AC, but even if she could actually get 30 million impressions out of it would be great, imo!

Sure, Oprah helped in that she sold more but the next week, she sold even more. I do think that the Instyle mag spread also helped. It seems to me that no current song is out and the stock seems to be depleted.I'm hoping that her trend of sales spike after an appearance occurs again after BET honours and new song is serviced/ video etc.

With Whit touring outside the USA, I guess we can't expect much in the way of upcoming promo? Is she even going to tour in the USA? This is a valid question. I hope they do and i hope that their listeners respond especially women. I see that Maxwell's 'fistfull of tears' isn't getting the same love but then again, he still has a song in the top 5 as does Whitney with 'MDB' still top 5 as well. I think generally you are right but that she could also get some spins froum urban, probably not great airplay but decent. Melanie Fiona's 'it kills me' is a slow jam, monica's coming with a slow jam so i hope that they don't do a Toni on Whit as they are doing with not playing 'so yesterday' and that they accept and play WI as it is a decent song with great lyrics and vocals.
