Allison Iraheta, fourth-place finisher from season 8 of American Idol, will perform her new single “Scars” during the show’s Thursday-night telecast (8 p.m. ET on Fox). A live performance by the red-headed rocker should provide momentary respite for the four season 9 semifinalists (two men, two women) who’ll get the boot during the course of the hour-long telecast. “Scars,” written by Toby Gad and Alyssa James, and produced by Gad, is a ballad from Iraheta’s 2009 debut Just Like You; a rep from 19 Entertainment confirms “Scars” will be the followup single to “Friday I’ll Be Over U.”news-briefs.ew.com/2010/02/22/allison-iraheta-american-idol-thursday/

The sun has a better chance of exploding tomorrow than this does doing anything on any chart. With all she already has going against her, they're gonna release a ballad? Talk about guaranteed failure. Not that I think anything from the album has a real shot with FIBOU doing nothing mind you, but if they're gonna bother with a 2nd single, why not at least pick a hit potential song? This song isn't even that great anyways, it's the most overrated from the album, imo. Trouble Is is miles better as far as stripped down ballads go.

^I don't hear a piano in this. I hear a guitar. It sounds like Big Girls Don't Cry/If I Were A Boy. Although, I'd put this between those 2 with BGDC being the best of the 3.

Same guy wrote all three songs IIRC. I happen to think this is her best ballad on the album. So if they were going to release a ballad anyways, this is a great choice. Although I would have liked D is for Dangerous or Robot Love before this one.

Thank Jehovah it wasn't "Holiday".
I'm sad Friday is over and never smashed. :( If that didn't do much, I doubt anything left can, but this is a good choice regardless.

I have to agree that I don't think this was the right choice for a second single. The song is fine - it's a pretty song. But, with the exception of somebody like Leona Lewis, there hasn't been a debut artist that has scored a first hit with a ballad in a long time. I may be forgetting somebody--possibly--but that just shows that it's not a common occurrence. Ballads are generally reserved for 3rd singles - or 2nd singles if the first did well.
Again, the closest comparison to this situation would be Lesley Roy. She struck out with "I'm Gone, I'm Going"--an uptempo pop-rock song--and then Jive released the ballad "Unbeautiful." Granted, "Unbeautiful" did better than IGIG, but it still only managed to peak in the mid-30s.
If Jive puts everything behind this and pushes it hard, giving Allison the promotion she should have had a long time ago, maybe it can do something. It's a pretty good song (although not my personal favorite off her album). She's performing it on Idol, but that is generally only good for sales, not airplay. Good thing for sales is that the Idol audience seems to respond better to ballads than other types of songs.

Yeah, I saw that when I posted, don't know why I said piano, I know there's no piano in there. I don't think this even touches BGDC or IIWAB, and I'm no huge fan of the latter. Those were catchy though, so they could do well. This has a very weak hook, imo. Both were also awhile back, before the upbeat craze we're in right now.

Such a shame, she and FIBOU had so much potential. The only thing I remember about this song is that it's a ballad and that she sounds like Pink in it. Since FIBOU wasn't a hit, nothing else will be either.

^^ I don't think that's true. Something else could be a hit. I just don't think this is the right choice for a single. But maybe it'll surprise me.

It's really unfortunate how poorly she's doing, she has a ton of potential, but her label is screwing her over.

You all are making me depressed. :( I love Allison, so I am really rooting for her. I have no idea how this will do as a single, but I will cheer her on anyway.

Scars is a good song, I doubt anything she releases will be a hit but at least she will be able to sing a song she likes and sounds good- 'Friday' was embarrassing.

I'd rather she perform FIBOU and see if that gives any boost to the song and if not then come back on Idol towards the end and do Scars. FIBOU got screwed along with Allison. My wish is for Scars to do well and give FIBOU another shot but I don't see anything taking off if FIBOU couldn't. :( I just love the album but at this rate I wont be getting another.

I like this song...but yeah, it probably isn't gonna do too much. At least it might get a decent Hot 100 peak because of Idol. I could've seen this being a decent hit 4 or 5 years ago but not now.

this is kinda off topic but i dont know where to ask it. who all do u think will be perofming on idol from the show this year excluding the finale im thinking:
1.Kris (DA) - Live Like Were Dying 2. Adam - Whatya Want from Me / If I Had You? 3. Allison - Scars / Friday Ill Be Over You? probably scars 4. Danny - My Best Days are Ahead of Me 5. Kelly - All I Ever Wanted 6. Fantasia - I think she has a new single out...even angels? 7. Carrie - Tempoary Home / 3rd Single 8. Kellie - Didnt You Know How Much I Loved You 9. Katharine - 2nd single? 10. Daughtry - Life After You / 3rd Single 11. Clay - I think hes working on a new album so maybe the first single towards the end of the season? 12. Kimberley Caldwell - Mess of You? this could be a strech 13. Bucky Covington - Doesnt he have something new coming soon? 14. Blake - He could promote something from Heartbreak... 15. David Cook - First Single of 2nd album towards end of season 16. David Archuleta - First Single of 2nd album towards end of season / this could be a stretch 17. Jordin Sparks - First Single of 3rd album towards end of season / this could be a stretch

LOL
This is just Jive being Jive. I'm not surprised at their choices anymore.
That's too bad for Allison, though.

The fact that Don't Waste the Pretty was supposedly the other song in the running to be 2nd single was almost as bad. What about Just Like You, Beat Me Up, Still Breathing, or something quirky like Robot Love? Those have pop appeal, imo.

HAHAHA if I didn't know better I'd think this was a joke (from listening to it for the first time right now).
Her voice kills me (not in a good way)....so much for the "rocker chick"

Her voice is the only great thing about this song. If it weren't for her singing, this song would be totally disposable, imo.

Jordin Sparks - First Single of 3rd album towards end of season / this could be a stretch Kris is singing "Let It Be" on Thursday and Allison is singing "Scars." Kris has the chance to appear at a later date as well, but I expect he'll be singing a 2nd single. Adam will of course get a spot. Also heard Scott from last season will be on (I don't get it... not sure he even has a single). Danny Gokey will probably make an appearance. As for previous season's people: Clay stands an ok chance. He was big, but he's no longer with 19M and was pretty contentious with them when he left. But it's possible. If Cook can get out a single in time I can see him premiering it on Idol. He is with 19M. Archuleta probably will have a single out before the end of the season, but he's not with 19M, so you never know. Jordin is also not with 19M, but I don't think that's what will prevent an appearance. She's not going to have a 1st single from a 3rd album ready. Maybe if she gets a 3rd single from her current album she can appear. Otherwise, no. Daughtry--potentially. Carrie--probably at some point. Kelly--uh... maybe not. Last season's appearance was pretty unusual for her. I don't think Idol cares a stitch for Blake, Katharine or Kim Caldwell. But I could see them have Kellie or Bucky appear, if there's time.

LLWD and FIBOU will not be performed on Idol. Kris will come back to perform his second single. Aside from them, my guess is Adam, Cook, Gokey, Kelly, Fantasia, and Carrie all performing during the season. Jordin if they decide to give her a 3rd single for the album.

Also heard Scott from last season will be on (I don't get it... not sure he even has a single). They owe Scott. He got snubbed at the finale last season because the musician he was suppose to be playing with pulled out last minute. Thats why he is getting to do it.
