I'm a bit disappointed that the conference isn't about something musical related I have no use of Olay products - whatever they may be.

How about a world tour sponsored by OLAY?

Agreed. I hope there's a twist, like, a charity or something.

Olay is a HUGE deal, guys! It is a worldwide brand and it is well known and respected all over the world.
I personally think it is a big deal to be the new face of Olay, as the products are great, and they have tv commercials, print ads, etc, all over the world.
This will get Carrie back on tv for commercials like for Vitamin Water, and it is an international, worldwide product, so this might help Carrie get exposure overseas.
I use Olay soap and lotion and it is awesome.
Olay commercials have used very beautiful models in the past, and it is an honor for Carrie to be the new face.
I actually think being the new face of Olay is as big, or bigger, as being the new face of Revlon or Cover Girl or something like that. Olay is HUGE!

That was such a pointless press conference...but whatever. Good for Carrie.

Question: How is Olay associated with Patrick Melville? His site says he uses Aveeno. So is that a separate project altogether, or will he style her hair for the photo shoots, etc?
Carrie did really well in the press conference. Loved her dress and love that Olay is sponsoring her tour.
This will make Carrie a ton of money. Happy for her!

Agree with misterscribbs...
Good for Carrie though. Hopefully this will be the first step towards international recognition.

I'm actually really disappointed by this news; I know it's not a big deal to most people but one of my favorite things about Carrie and one of the things that made me like her as a person was her stance on how much she cares about animals (even though it's not necessarily a "cool" stance to have in country music)....So for her to be an ambassador to a company that tests on animals just makes her seem hypocritical given her actions in the past.
Honestly, my level of respect for her as a person just dropped. :(

I personally think before we start loosing respect for Carrie over her choice here we might wait and see what the whole thing is going to be. Yes, they did test on animals, maybe now, they don't, we don't know the facts.

I don't think Carrie would sign with people who test on animals. I'm sure she addressed that with the company. After all, they mentioned how she's a vegetarian and they keep referring to the "future" of the company. Maybe they won't test on animals anymore?

It's possible they've stopped testing since the last boycott in May, but I haven't heard anything and I didn't manage to find any news of it.
I'd really like to see Carrie address it; who knows, maybe she's going to be part of a campaign of them doing away with animal testing. I still think it's kind of odd she'd sign with them (P&G) given all the bad PR Iam's has gotten regarding animal cruelty in mainstream media and bad press they've gotten in general regarding their secrecy about animal testing policies, but, as I said, I'm just one person and I do realize it's not an issue for most people; it kind of just rubs me the wrong way.
However, it doesn't affect my listening to her music, and it's not like I'm going to boycott her.

Just an interesting thought here before the " do they test on animals "discussion may take off. Some companies that show up on various "DO test on Animals" lists show up on these lists because they may be part of a larger company tree (i.e. Proctor and Gamble or Johnson and Johnson). If the large branch of the company tree has any pharmaceutical limbs some of their product lines lead them onto the "Do test on animals" list because all pharmaceuticals are required to be tested on animals.
ETA: I think Olay is part of the Proctor and Gamble family.

I highly doubt Carrie would ever be apart of a company that harms animals in any way so either they never have tested on them or have stopped. I guess we will see if this is brought up in the future.

Some of the lists (i.e.; the bad ones) that list the "companies that do test" don't take into consideration if the company manufactures products that are required to test on animals by law. A good/unbiased list will take that into consideration and will only add them if they voluntarily test.
Interestingly enough after I mentioned I wasn't planning on boycotting her over something like this, I got an email forward suggesting just that. I'm not sure how big of an issue it'll become, but she might have to address it at some point.

I'm sure all the nay-sayers are going to jump on the bandwagon in another attempt to diss Carrie. Anyone who thinks she would be part of anything that harms animals in any way obviously don't know Carrie.

Uh, not everyone who disagrees or questions something Carrie does is automatically a nay-sayer trying to jump on a bandwagon. That's kind of a big blanket statement to make.

^That article from AP makes me happy about the prospect of Carrie's future acting gigs! It seems Carrie was happy with how she did in the film, and is willing to try new projects, just not the lead role yet! Yay!! I was hoping she would not walk away from this hating acting and feeling bad about how she did. I love that she admitted she would have liked to have been nominated for EOTY, but that she was happy for her friends. Total Class act response, as always. I would have hated it if she said she didn't care about being nominated as that would have been too much of a pat answer. I love that she said the truth, but still kept it classy. :( I am sure the line that Carrie will endorse will not test on animals. Carrie feels VERY Strongly about that and I have faith in her that she will not throw her beliefs out the window for an endorsement deal. I think we should give her a chance and learn the facts before you assume the worst, right? :( Quote: Carrie is trying to kill the animals. Are you kidding, or being serious? Carrie is a vegetarian and HUGE animal rights protector, so she would never hurt animals whatsoever. Just because a company may have tested on animals in the past, does not mean they are still doing this kind of testing. I can guarantee you that Carrie's line that she will endorse will very specifically state it does NOT test on animals. It is amazing that people jump all over her the second something like this is announced without waiting to learn the facts.
