^lol. madonna is a joke in america. 50 year women singing songs about going to the club and dirty sex is not appealing at all. I just about spat out my Sierra Nevada Glissade on that one, bro. I might have to vote for you this week. Killin' it. Shut those hairy-knuckled apeheads DOWN. That movie info is of the hotness. Can't wait.

Mariah in New Tyler Perry Movie Black Voices has learned that writer/director/producer Tyler Perry has selected the cast for next film, "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf." At last night's premiere for his latest film, "Why Did I Get Married Too?," the black box-office maverick revealed that the cast will include Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Jurnee Smollett, Kimberly Elise, Kerry Washington, and Macy Gray. Based on Ntozake Shange's award-winning 1975 play, the film is scheduled to shoot in June in New York with a possible winter 2010/2011 release date. The riveting play, consisting of a series of poems performed through a cast of nameless women, known only by a color -- deal with such subjects as love, abandonment, rape, and abortion, garnered much acclaim, becoming the toast of Broadway when it opened at The Booth Theater in 1976. It later morphed into an Emmy Award nominated television special and is still being performed around the world. Elise and Carey are the only two that made the cut from Perry's initial wish list that he mentioned back in September 2009, which initially included 16-time Grammy Award winner Beyonce Knowles, Academy Award winner Halle Berry and media queen Oprah Winfrey. "Making a film of 'For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow is Enuf' is a dream come true for me," Perry said about the project. "Ntozake Shange's play is a magnificent tribute to the strength and dignity of women of color, and I think audiences of all generations will be able to recognize and embrace the experiences these women represent. Creatively, this movie is one of the most exciting undertakings of my career." As previously reported by Black Voices, 'For Colored Girls' will be the first project for 34th Street Films, Perry's new production company, which is housed at Lionsgate. I'm gonna quote and bump this since this is the new that should be focused on and not that other nonsense. I love that she has the acting bug again and is making more positive movie choices.

I'd love to see her in a comedy. But again, a character so far from who she is. Ironically, the one character Mariah doesn't seem to portray well in movies is herself (Zohan for example!).....maybe a romcom would be good.....?

Usher will make Justin retract his statement by tomorrow morning. Kids talk to damn much. Justin needs to be mute and one-word-answers like Britney and Tiger.

Yes, people, four solid pages of obsessive Mariah Carey fans trying to prove themselves and somehow thinking THEY know what's best for Mariah.

I would think alot of her fans in the music industry that have followed her career just might have better ideas than 60 yr old A&Rs.. Its not that unimaginable.. When are these suprises coming???

At this point, she has NOTHING to lose in going back to pure pop. I highly doubt she is going to come out with another 100% R&B album like she did this time.
She needs to do a Pop album and release her R&B remixes like she did back in the day.

she is technically not even 40 yet.. LOL. Why even say this? Isn't she about to turn 40 really soon? It's not like another album will be released before then.

When did Mariah ever put out pure pop albums? All of her albums except for Music Box maybe have always been mainstream R&B.

I think she can find a "happy medium" in terms of sound. Her initial best bet to really raise the bar for a new project is to seek and collaborate with an entirely new set of writers & producers that she's NEVER EVER worked with. I think she's a chameleon in the regard of being able to work with some very unsuspecting partners, and make it out to be a winner. She'd be wise not to sleep on that skill. Whether it turns out to be a commercial hit or not, from an artistic standpoint, she'd receive some applause for not staying in her "comfort zone".

Exactly. Her albums have always been R&B/Pop albums. They used to be happy mediums. Now they lean so heavily to R&B that her pop sounds generally get ignored.
Her best bet is to find a happy medium again. She got away with it during TEOM because the world was still hooked on R&B/Hip-Hop music, but times have since changed. She made it work with 'Obsessed' and 'Touch My Body', she can make it work again. It's just a matter of doing those types of records throughout. Argue if you will, but 'Obsessed' is a pop record when compared to 'The Impossible' and 'More Than Just Friends' and 'Inseparable'.

Even though Mariah turns 40 tomorrow, girl looks early 30s and could even pass for a 29 year old when she's super slim (we have to admit this). In other words, she will be alright.
Like someone else said earlier, Mariah always feels the need to prove herself (even now when she does not have to) especially when a project doesn't turn out to be as successful as expected. I believe she's going to release a new album by next spring, succeed and then take a a much needed break for family etc. I highly doubt MC is going to take a break this year.

Even though she probably would never "go there", I just noticed that producer Dr. Luke has assisted with some pretty big pop/mainstream hits over the past few years. Wonder what their chemistry would be like?

Im well aware that she is going to be 40 tomorrow, I said technically... and the reason i said technically is because people have been saying shes 40 for about 3 years now lol.. I think her pop sounding songs are the best ones anyway.. like fantasy, heartbreaker, honey, dreamlover, TMB, shake it off etc..

I would love for her to drop the extra weight and slim down to the way she was for E=MC2's launch. Then she could record a few R&B/Pop bangers, nab a hit or two, and I'd be satisfied. She needs an image/sound update though badly. I'm a massive fan but everything lately about her seems so incredibly stale. She's looked exactly the same (except weight-wise) for so many years now. Dye your hair, cut it, do SOMETHING different. Evolve. I don't know what it is but I'm so bored with her. Memoirs... is an excellent album, don't get me wrong. One of her best. But she really needs to do something to freshen herself up a bit whether it be physically or sonically or both.

I'm pretty sure she is going to be working with BRAND NEW PRODUCERS for the next album. She is pretty good about dropping beat-makers when they don't get her any more hits.
Walter A was dropped after Butterfly JD was pushed back to "The A" after he gave her Janet demos on E=MC2 After SS flopped, she vowed never to work with Neptunes again list goes on and on
Also to poster D, Mariah does EVOLVE. That is why she is the only member of the 90s divas (Celine, Whitney, Janet, and Toni) getting Top 10 Pop hits and #1 Rhythmic hits album after album.
