She did evolve up to a certain point. That is why she has lasted this long. But she can definitely step it up a notch and take some more risks. I feel like she's had the same exact look, more or less, for the past decade. The "Touch My Body" video was a treat because she looked so fresh and good just from the weight loss. I wanna see even more evolution from her.

Mariah was a BONA-FIDE dime in E=MC2. Every video (save I Flop in Love) was just amazing. She has never looked that good in her life...and she was 38 at the time!!! AMAZING!

I'm pretty sure she is going to be working with BRAND NEW PRODUCERS for the next album. She is pretty good about dropping beat-makers when they don't get her any more hits. Walter A was dropped after Butterfly JD was pushed back to "The A" after he gave her Janet demos on E=MC2 After SS flopped, she vowed never to work with Neptunes again list goes on and on Also to poster D, Mariah does EVOLVE. That is why she is the only member of the 90s divas (Celine, Whitney, Janet, and Toni) getting Top 10 Pop hits and #1 Rhythmic hits album after album. I sure hope she does work with BRAND NEW, and take her time with them. I just realized for someone who's had so many studio albums, there are still alot of producers she yet to collabo with, within the r&b/pop arena. Many of them, I have little doubt she couldn't make some fire with!

^Not bad. It had a good run. At least it will pass 500k. So it's not completely embarrassing.

Actually agree with Alex. :o
Mimi must have evolved if she is still getting hit songs. The only problem is that she is plateauing and getting stuck in a mold. She needs to get out of it.

For her next era, I'm sure she'll get back in shape. She got kinda lazy since the era was pretty much over as soon as it begun.

but she sounded horrible emc2 era... the easier songs like that chick you like she could not even perform well. tmb is hard to sing live though.
she has mentioned before that when she exercises too much, her singing gets affected though.

She looked fantastic in 2008. I wish she would get back into shape, simply because it's the healthy thing to do. I still think she looks great now though most of the time.

She looked her best ever during the E=MC2 era. She dropped 20 lbs and 10 years. Whatever she was doing then was working amazingly well. She will get a lot of press if she can get herself looking that good again. Man, that last picture from the E era, where she is brushing her bangs to the side, is SO HOT! Where's that picture from? That dress looks sexy!

^ She & Nick were going or leaving for dinner. It was one of their 1st "public outings" as husband & wife after the announcement.

Meanwhile, she looks like a bloated mermaid in the third picture from the 'now' category. Oh, Mimi! <3 I can't believe I almost forgot this: HAPPY 40th 12th ANNIVERSARY MIMI!

Happy Birthday Mariah! Personally, face-wise Mariah always looks beautiful regardless of weight gain or loss. I too am one of those people who think that she looked her best during the Butterfly Era. :)

I don't think her image is the real problem (at least in terms of being stale), but rather MOAIA just wasn't as strong of an album as TEOM and E=MC2 were. I think she needs to step it up with the music for her next album if she wants it to do better. Also losing some weight should help since she has a sexy image to live up to.

I'm tired of people who were raving about MOAIA when it leaked, backtracking once we saw the aftermath and its failure. Musically, MOAIA>>>>E=MC

I still think MOAIA is an incredible album, her best only after Butterfly (and maybe TEOM, the verdict's still out on that one). The quality of MOAIA had nothing to do with its sales. If quality = sales, Music Box, by far the most bland and uninteresting album of Mariah's career, wouldn't be her best-selling album internationally.

^Truth. However, for me, nothing on MOIA really jumped out at me. Many of the tracks just strung together, without much variety.
The debut, Butterfly and Emancipation remain my top 3 albums from her. The debut had the most variety, IMO, and it was nice to see her mention "Sent From Up Above" recently (one of my favorites from her, period).

If quality = sales, Music Box, by far the most bland and uninteresting album of Mariah's career, wouldn't be her best-selling album internationally. But Music Box came out when she was still fairly new and hot stuff on the scene. Mariah isn't the constant reinventing type of pop star like Madonna is. Later on in her career, people want a really good or catchy song from her the most, I feel. MOAIA, while by no means a bad album, felt like a step back for me after Emancipation and E=MC2. Like HolidayGuy said, most of the songs on it didn't really jump out. To me it just felt like she didn't try her best in writing or selecting most of the songs to be on it.
