To me Music Box and MOAIA are her worst albums. Full of boring and bland songs. But at least Music Box had a few brilliant songs, whereas the highlight songs of MOAIA are somewhat forgettable. I would put Charmbracelet third, another boring album but I feel like it has less filler tracks than the other two ones.

The verdict's still out on everything... I personally find MOAIA to be one of her most boring albums. I don't really care f someone wants to think it was because of its poor sales. Yes, I was excited when it came out (as with every new album) but I also showed skepticism when it came to "rank" her albums. I always ranked it on the bottom of the list, only above Glitter and Charmbracelet. E=MC2, on the other hand, is pure genius. I still play it quite frequently!

My favorite albums (since we are playing that game again) are Emancipation, E=MC2 and Memoirs. I have always shown more respect for Mariah as an ARTIST as she has entered her darker, more complex period. It is during this time that she became more emotionally connected to her music as well as wanting to take her listeners on a sonic journey. A lot of her productions back in the day were just so...simple. As someone who pays verrry close attention to sonic detail, I have been most impressed with the layer of craft applied to Mariah's latter-day output. Save the cheesy dance/gay-club songs for remixes and not for an actual album (which is the problem I had with the first 3 albums). Also, leave the rent-a-rappers off the album altogether (which is why I loved the last 3 albums because other than a couple songs, the focus was pretty much all Mariah). Last but not least, I want a wall of Mariah, which is what I have with Memoirs. I am pretty much a happy camper these days, at least when it comes to listening to Mariah's output. Her live performances, weight fluctuations, marriage, sales - I tend to ignore, for the most part. It's better that way.

I think they need to release like two up tempo's are the first singles. Her last two uptempo's have done #1 and top 10 so they can be what she needs right now to get people interested again.

'Together' Forever From this week's Ask Billboard:
According to Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems (BDS), which electronically monitors radio stations in more than 140 U.S. markets and provides the data that powers Billboard's radio airplay charts, "We Belong Together" has been played 743,758 times through Wednesday (March 24).
I asked BDS Director of Data Services Adam Foster how that sum stacks up against other hit songs released five years ago.
Here is what Adam found:
"We Belong Together" began a 10-week run at No. 1 on the Pop Songs chart for the week of July 2, 2005. Here are the to-date detection totals at BDS-monitored U.S. terrestrial radio stations for Carey's smash and the other songs that were in the top 10 (in order) that week:
All-Format To-Date Plays, Artist, Title 743,758, Mariah Carey, "We Belong Together" 399,636, Gwen Stefani, "Hollaback Girl" 513,149, Kelly Clarkson, "Behind These Hazel Eyes" 226,340, the Black Eyed Peas, "Don't Phunk With My Heart" 160,319, Will Smith, "Switch" 279,099, Ciara featuring Ludacris, "Oh" 374,941, 3 Doors Down, "Let Me Go" 358,332, Papa Roach, "Scars" 244,448, 50 Cent, "Just a Lil Bit" 356,973, the Pussycat Dolls featuring Busta Rhymes, "Don't Cha"
The total for "We Belong Together" is more 200,000 plays higher than its closest title ("Behind These Hazel Eyes") and twice the to-date average of the rest of that week's top 10 (323,693).
Not surprisingly, and even though it wasn't released until halfway through the decade, "We Belong Together" earned the honor of top title of the 2000s on the Billboard Hot 100 (a feat Carey proudly touted to the audience when I saw her in concert in January).

Looking forward to the new album. Hopefully it will be more in the vain of Obsessed. That was an awesome lead track... It is one of my favorite Mariah uptempos since Fantasy, along with I'll Be Loving U Long Time.

^ Again? What about the musical based on her Merry Christmas album? It's like every damn year there's a big new project and then it ends in the nothingness.

Better watch out for this on extremely summer days, eh? I thought I read somewhere that Mariah doesn't even have a license...

The past two years also had E=MC2 and Memoirs. I prefer that she take her time, especially relating to her classic Christmas album, and do somethign worthwhile. She likely hasn't gone forward because it's not right/not ready. Patience grasshopper.

Hello my fellow Mariah fans :) How are you girls doing? I have on my DVR the canadian show eTalk Daily about Precious, it's only about the movie and has interviews with the cast including Mariah. Do you want me to upload it for you in DVD quality before I delete it? It played in early feb.

I was thinking about what Justin Bieber said the other day about Mariah, and I wonder, in his mind, if "old Mariah" is 2005 Mariah.

^^ lol maybe. It's not as if Mariah's 90s catalog is unknown though. I think everyone has heard songs like Fantasy, Always Be My Baby, and Hero...they still are on the radio.
If not Bieber, since he's a "musician", there likely is a whole generation of kids that is relatively unaware of the size of Mariah's catalog.
Oh btw, this is to the person who started this thread: Is your "mariah-mariah-mariah" name meant to be said like "marsha-marsha-MARSHA" from the Brady Bunch? Wanted to ask that for so long lol....

Random thought: I was loading some Mariah music onto my iPhone, and I was sticking to IDJ era Mariah. When I put some songs from E=MC2 here is what I put on: Migrate, Touch My Body, Cruise Control, Side Effects, I'm That Chick, I'll Be Lovin U Long Time. That album, at least for me, is sooooooooooo all about the uptempos. Mariah made an album, and IDJ promoted it as if it was a different type of album, seemingly. They repeated the pattern w/ Memoirs only even worse. They could not have picked single less representative of the album than I Wanna Know What Love Is. I tried to be on board, but I wasn't. I never listen to that track.
